Chapter 2 - Sunlight

As Nala woke up in her bedroom, the first rays of dawn breaking through the window, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was different. She felt an energy within her that she had never known before, a sense of purpose and determination that seemed to pulse through her veins.

She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood up, feeling a strange sense of excitement as she prepared for her first day at the library. She chatted briefly with her mother as she made her way downstairs, her steps light and sure.

"Good morning, Mum!" Nala said, a smile on her lips.

"Good morning, daughter," her mother replied, her eyes soft with love. "Did you sleep well?"

"Surprisingly well," Nala replied, a sense of wonder in her voice. "I feel great."

She patted her loyal dog, who wagged his tail happily, and set about making herself breakfast. As she ate, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was stirring within her, a sense of excitement and adventure that she had never known before.

As Nala finished her breakfast, she couldn't shake the feeling that her mind was working faster than usual. She checked and double-checked to make sure she had everything she needed for the day ahead, a sense of nervous excitement coursing through her veins.

"See you tonight, Mum," she said, a smile on her lips. "Have a good day!"

"You'll do great on your first day too, dear," her mother replied, her eyes shining with pride.

And with that, Nala set off for the library, her steps light and sure. As she walked, she couldn't help but notice that her senses seemed heightened, as if she was more in tune with the world around her. She could feel the wind on her skin, the warmth of the sun on her face, and the crispness of the air in her lungs. It was a sensation that was both exhilarating and terrifying, and she knew that there was more to it than met the eye.

As Nala arrived at the library, she couldn't shake the feeling that she had been here before. It was a strange sensation, one that sent shivers down her spine and made her heart race. She greeted the head librarian, Sarda, and was shown around the sprawling stacks of books.

As she walked through the rows of books, she couldn't help but feel a sense of déjà vu. It was as if she had been here before, as if these shelves and these books were somehow familiar to her. She shrugged off the feeling and continued on her tour, taking care to caress the books as she went.

Despite the strange sensation that lingered in the back of her mind, Nala found herself feeling at home among the books. She took care of a few customers, getting her bearings in the library, until the evening arrived. That was when Sarda asked her to finish tidying up the back room.

As Nala walked into the dimly-lit space, she couldn't shake the feeling that something important was there. She could feel it in the air, a sense of anticipation and excitement that seemed to pulse through her veins.

As Nala sat in the dim light of the back room, her mind racing with the revelation of her forgotten memories, she knew that she had to take the time to understand what was happening to her. These memories were clearly bound up with the ancient tome that lay before her, and she knew that the key to unlocking their secrets lay within its pages.

She remembered the moment of revelation that had come just before she was murdered. She had felt a sense of power wash over her, a feeling of strength and determination that had filled her to the very core. She clenched her fists, searching for that strength in her memories, and knew that she would need every ounce of it if she was going to survive the journey ahead.

And so, with a sense of determination and resolve, Nala sat down in front of the book and opened its pages. To her surprise, she found that she could understand each of the strange characters that were written there, as if they were a part of her. She knew, with a sense of excitement and wonder, that she was on the brink of a great discovery.

As Nala gazed at the cover of the ancient tome, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. There, etched into the leather in bold letters, were the words "Scriptures of Magic, Volume 1, by Aaron".

"Magic?" she whispered to herself, her heart racing with excitement and disbelief. Could it be true? Could magic really exist?

As she thought back on the events of the last few hours, Nala knew that she couldn't discount the possibility. After all, she had gone back in time after her death, a feat that seemed impossible to anyone who had not experienced it firsthand. If magic could do that, then who was to say what else it was capable of?

With a sense of wonder and excitement, Nala continued to inspect the book in detail. She saw that it was a manual, a guide to learning magic. She couldn't believe that such a thing could exist, and yet there it was, in front of her. She knew that she had to learn more, to uncover the secrets that lay hidden within its pages. And so, with a sense of determination and resolve, she began to read.

As Nala delved deeper into the mysterious tome, she began to understand the true nature of magic. It was, as the ancient writings described, the art of manipulating the surrounding mana, an energy that existed all around us and within us.

According to the book, this mana was the guiding force behind the natural world, shaping the wind, the heat, and the very gravity itself. And it was within each and every person, a latent power that could be harnessed and wielded with the proper training and discipline.

As Nala delved deeper into the mysterious tome, she began to understand the true nature of magic. She learned that mages were able to manipulate the mana inside them, using it to resonate with the mana outside and bend it to their will.

In order to do this, however, they first had to learn to sense the inner mana that flowed within them. This was a delicate and precise process, one that required the mage to focus all of their attention on the subtle movements of their own mana.

Once they had mastered the art of sensing their inner mana, the mages then had to learn to move it, using their will and their focus to guide it through their bodies and out into the world. Only then could they begin to divert the mana from its natural flow and use it to cast "spells".

It was a difficult and demanding process, but one that Nala was determined to master. She knew that with hard work and dedication, she could harness the power of the mana and bend it to her will. And so, with a sense of determination and resolve, she set out to learn the art of magic.
