Thale sits alone in a small clearing, deep in thought. He has just taken care of the two enemy soldiers and is now wearing one of their uniforms, trying to blend in as he makes his way deeper into enemy territory. But as he sits there, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the distant cries of battle, he can't help but question the reasons behind his actions.
Why am I doing this? He thinks to himself. These people have done nothing to me, yet here I am, fighting against them in a war that I barely understand. Am I fighting for my emperor? But I've never even seen the emperor, let alone know what he stands for.
He starts to remember the reasons that led him to this war. He wanted to help people, to make a difference in the world. But now, as he looks around at the destruction and death caused by this war, he can't help but wonder if he's made the right choice.
