Chapter 34 - Gathering Information 2

The tavern is a bustling place, filled with the sounds of laughter and conversation. The air is thick with the smell of ale and the faint aroma of roasted meat. The walls are adorned with various trinkets and decorations, including old maps and the skulls of exotic animals. The patrons are a mix of locals and travellers, ranging from rough-looking pirates to well-dressed merchants. Some are sitting at the long bar, chatting with the bartender as they drink their ale, while others are gathered around tables, playing games or sharing stories. Thale takes a seat at the bar and begins to listen in on the conversations around him, hoping to gather some useful information.

Some people are talking about the recent political tensions between two neighbouring countries, while others are discussing the latest gossip about a wealthy merchant's affair. In the corner, a group of adventurers are bragging about their recent quests and the treasure they've found. Thale also hears bits and pieces about the pirate group he is looking for, but the information is scattered and unreliable. He decides to approach one of the adventurers and ask for more information about the pirates. The adventurer, a rough-looking man with a scar across his face, tells Thale that the pirate group is known for their ruthless tactics and their massive treasure hoard. He advises Thale to be careful if he decides to go after them, as they have a reputation for not taking kindly to outsiders trying to mess with their business.

Thale leaves the tavern and finds an information broker. Thale enters the information store and is immediately struck by the vast array of knowledge available. There are rows and rows of shelves filled with books, scrolls, and other records, all containing valuable information on a wide range of topics. Thale approaches the counter and asks the clerk for any information on the pirates who attacked his hometown. The clerk nods and leads Thale to a section of the store dedicated to criminal activity. Thale spends the next few hours pouring over the records, learning everything he can about the pirates and their operations. He makes notes and copies of important information, determined to use this knowledge to one day bring the pirates to justice.

Thale starts to research the different pirate groups, looking for any clues or information that might help him find the group responsible for Elara's death. He spends hours in the information store, sifting through records and talking to people who might have knowledge of the different groups.

As he gathers more information, Thale begins to understand the complex web of relationships and power struggles within the pirate world. Some groups are small and specialized, while others are massive and have a wide reach. Thale realizes that he will need to be strategic in his search, and that simply killing any pirate he comes across will not bring him closer to his goal.

After several days of research, Thale finally gets a lead on a group of pirates that might be connected to Elara's death. He makes a plan to track them down and bring them to justice, determined to honour Elara's memory and avenge her death.

Thale is currently at Verdant Green Empire. Verdant Green Empire is a large and prosperous kingdom known for its beautiful landscapes and rich culture. It is home to many powerful cultivators and has a thriving trade economy. It is likely that there are many sources of information about the pirates in the empire, as it is a hub for trade and commerce. Thale may be able to find more information about the specific group of pirates he is searching for by asking around at various information brokers, or by speaking with other cultivators who may have knowledge of the pirate activity in the region. He may also want to consider seeking out the assistance of local authorities or cultivator guilds, as they may have resources and connections that can help him in his search.

Thale is poor and has no resources, you can do very little with no money. Thale knows that he needs to find a way to make money and gather resources if he wants to take on the pirates and seek revenge for Elara. He starts by looking for job opportunities in the city, hoping to find something that will allow him to earn some money and build up his strength. He also starts to look for resources and allies, searching for people who might be willing to help him in his quest for revenge. As he searches for these things, Thale is always careful to keep a low profile and avoid attracting too much attention to himself. He knows that the pirates have a long reach, and he doesn't want to risk being discovered by them before he is ready to take them on.

Thale asks around to find out who are the riches people in the city. It is likely that the richest people in the city will be merchants, landowners, or members of the nobility. Thale may be able to find out more about them by asking around at the market or inquiring at local government offices. Alternatively, he could try to gather information by networking with other wealthy individuals or by hiring a private investigator to do some digging for him. Whatever approach he chooses, it will likely take some time and effort to track down the wealthiest people in the city and learn more about them. It only makes sense to learn from the people who are rich.
