My breathe laggged and became hitched as I saw the shioullette of my father outside the room. I was only able to see as some rays of light reflected in the dark cold room. My eyes grew wide as I was shocked that my father was my kidnapper. "But why??" , I asked within myself with no answer. I was distraught at the moment.

I'm Cody Stones. An 18 years old born into a family of four. My family can be regarded as one between first class and middle class though we struggle to maintain the status. My father lives off his inheritance from his parents as his only sibling and sister, my Aunt, didn't take interest in it. She worked her way to first class all by herself and my father depends on her at times but she died some years back and her inheritance are not accessible for some reason. My mother owns a fancy store some blocks away, established by my Aunt for mom's birthday. I have two sisters, Lisa and Catherine, and one younger brother, Richard. Lisa is 26, Catherine 21 and Richard 13. I and Richard were very familiar with my Aunt than our sisters but she preferred me the most. The bond between me and Aunt Gabriella can be considered unbreakable. It was more of a mother to child bond. My elder siblings loathed me and I think it's because of my relationship with our aunt. She had a lot of assets but unfortunately had no successor. I pitied her alot as she gets taunted at times by my mother for not having a child. I grew to be found if her and spent most of my holidays with her.
Aunt Gabriella has maids and bodyguards that I wondered how she got killed in the first place. It came as a surprise to me when I heard of her death. I was the most devastated. My parents were actually indifferent as all they wanted was her properties. After her death, her lawyer came to announce that she wishes for me to live in one of her mansions. Living an extravagant life wasn't really my thing but I had to fulfill her wish.
Living alone with just maids wasn't easy but I finally adapted to it. I even made friends with some of them as some preferred the boss to employee relationship. I had a best friend too. His name was Rogers and he was the head of all the bodyguards.
After a while, I found out that my aunt actually willed all of her properties and assets (over a billion dollars) to me and I was to be the CEO of her popular company after I turn 18. It was supposed to be a secret but I found out when rummaging the stuffs in her library. It was there that I saw the agreement. I informed my parents and they were happy about it. Little did I know that I exposed myself to doom.

My heart beat got faster with every passing second and my thinking travelled wild. I got more shocked when I saw my mom there too. I couldn't stand as I was weak and unable to move a muscle. I was injected with a substance which knocked me out. I heard them talking but I couldn't make out anything reasonable. The words that got to my hearing dazed me. "Foster child", "inheritance", "sign documents".
I couldn't hear anymore as I fell into darkness once more, sleep welcoming me back.

I woke up again feeling cold water on my skin. They had splashed water on my face in order to wake me up. This time around I was not on the floor but tied to a wooden chair. I was almost naked if not for my underwears covering the last bit of my nudity. Coming face to face with me were my parents and someone else behind them. He had some wads of cash in his hands and seemed to have earned it from my kidnap. Then I remembered him. The taxi driver that I stopped to take me to the market. He must have been asked to kidnap me by my parents.
At that moment, I had nothing else in mind to ask them "Why would they kidnap me?" "What is going on?" "What led to this?"
