Chapter 17 - Strength determines everything

"We are gentlemen of the civilized world, do not see things in terms of local caste." Pamela Mountbatten's face was odd, this young civil servant, how he opened his mouth like an old man, obviously the world has a lot of good things, but the other side is blind to them.

"Every day the two major religions are fighting in arms, and we in Britain did colonize this place, if we leave one day, do we expect the Indians to thank us?" Ellen Wilson snorted, "We know exactly what Britain has done here as British people."

British India once wanted to establish a more efficient management system, that is, before the Great Indian Uprising. At that time, Britain established an efficient management system while devouring the native states and eliminating the caste system.

But the caste system was the pillar of Hinduism, and eventually several reasons combined to cause the Great Indian Revolt. After the Great Indian Revolt, British India also officially appeared. After that, the Governor General of British India formally gave up the previous idea of retaining the earth state and the earth state to live together in harmony, and did not want to do anything about the caste system.

Even if Britain sent more colonial officials, they would always have a numerical disadvantage, so the caste system happened to facilitate their colonial rule, making it easier for them to find out which communities were the upper class to be drawn and bought, and which were the lower class people who only needed to serve as cheap labor.

The traditional caste system also made it easier for the British to plan which communities were to be engaged in which manual labor and which upper classes were to be bought with benefits to occupy which positions in the colonial government.

The British Empire did not rule India for the purpose of giving away welfare and spreading equality among all people. They retained this system of dividing people into classes, which was essentially of the same nature as classifying animals in a zoo for easy captivity.

After a long investigation, British India formally absorbed caste into British Indian law to strengthen it. As for the British citizens, enjoy all the rights and benefits of the Indian high caste, but not in any caste. Simply put, the benefits all want, but also beyond the caste system.

"Miss, do not trust any colonial upper class people, they all have an agenda, once we leave, they will incite the lower class to curse us, it is inevitable." Ellen Wilson held the file bag one by one tapping the desktop, "Do not see how calm they behave are false, Nehru is one of the representatives."

Nehru? Pamela Mountbatten heard this name, as if I had heard my mother mentioned!

How come the commander-in-chief of the Southeast Asian theater of operations had not returned yet? Alan Wilson, although already prepared for a career in civil service, happened to accept a less reliable mission, the mission is actually still reliable, Mountbatten this person is a bit reliable.

"Or I can help you give it to my father, you will not distrust me, right?" Pamela Mountbatten stretched out her hand and raised it in front of Alan.

"Uh, no, it's just more reassuring to hand it over with your own hands. It may be the distribution of materials for British India's support of the war effort in Burma, and in principle should not be known to political figures of Indian origin." Alan Wilson wanted to say, like a good determination to hand over to Pamela Mountbatten, "I am not a civil servant of the Governor General's Office, and I have to rush to Hyderabad in the next few days, then it will be left to you."

"Don't worry, I will hand it over to my father myself, and definitely not let my mother see it." Pamela Mountbatten tilted her head confidently and said, "You are too serious a person, how is it like MI6?"

Alan Wilson's body towards the door gave a slight lurch, but immediately adjusted to leave the villa, how does this sound? He was really, providing intelligence on Pearl Harbor, how could he not be in contact with intelligence. Now he was an informant for MI6 in addition to being the Hyderabad commissioner.

"Miss Pamela, please, then." With a polite request, Alan Wilson took the door with him from outside.

Now occupying the position of the world's mainstream media was undoubtedly the Yalta Conference, the triumvirate of Churchill, Stalin and Roosevelt, which was full of collusion, as the post-war order would be formulated under the leaders of the United States, the Soviet Union and the United Kingdom, given that the Axis powers were at the end of their tether.

Later French President Charles de Gaulle once said with unbridled anger that it was a meeting to divide the spoils, full of backroom deals. But in Alan Wilson's view, it was only the absence of France's cake on the spoils table that made him so upset.

Time back thirty years, the triumvirate after World War I, there is a place for France, Britain and France joined forces to cold shoulder the United States of America's President Wilson, so that in the international are still a bit young, the United States did not get what it wanted.

"Sir Barron, it seems that the Prime Minister has not gained the understanding of President Roosevelt on some issues." Mountbatten crossed his legs and looked somewhat gloomily at Sir Barron, as well as Viceroy Wavell of India, who was in the same room, and said ruefully, "Shouldn't we in Britain and America be on the same side?"

Sir Barron's face changed slightly, cleared his throat to organize the language, "Commander Mountbatten, politics is a very complex matter, each country has different interests of each country, at this stage in the war is not over. The Prime Minister's first priority is to ensure the integrity of the united front, in the process we have to maintain the surface rapprochement with the Soviets, at least until the defeat of Germany is so, as for the American idea, we also look at this issue from a mature political perspective, before the end of the war, should not be too harsh."

Allen Wilson rolled his eyes, Sir Barron with superb words, seemingly said a lot of things, but in fact nothing, in fact, the current U.S.-Soviet consistency on many issues can only be explained by one reason, that is, the Americans, and also President Roosevelt believes that the Soviet Union is stronger than Britain, so listen more to each other's claims, strength determines everything.

But it is somewhat unspeakable to have Sir Barron and the British here, admit that in the eyes of the Americans the Soviet Union was more important.

As for why Alan Wilson is here instead of back in Hyderabad, that's a good question, and he wants to know.

"Actually, the benefits we were able to exchange with the Soviet Union were not less than those of the Americans." Governor Wavell sighed, "but there is a stalemate over Poland and Greece."

Mountbatten tapped his head, shaking his head reluctant to bother in from this matter, and turned his attention to Alan Wilson, sizing up, "You are a little younger than I thought, no wonder Pamela reads about you, but Alan, my daughter is still young, she is only sixteen, and it is not gentlemanly for you to enter my villa and stay with her for so long in private. Of course you twenty-one years old to do Hyderabad Commissioner, is not very bad, only and I have a gap, as for the appearance of it? The same gap!"

If there was a gun in his pocket now, Alan Wilson might consider shooting the narcissist, although the other side is right.
