I strive for success. I have always done that. My whole life is part of that.
Reaching the destination, I examined the area and see a bit of zombies piling on the ground. One is shot in the head while the others seem to have been hit with a baseball bat, which explains the ruptured skull. That indicates there's a presence of a survivor in that building.
I exited the vehicle and armed myself with a rifle and head straight into the entrance.
Hopefully, there are fewer infected who are alive in there so I don't need to waste my bullets.
It was dark, everything is consumed by darkness or shadows. There is a little bit of sunlight pouring in but not enough to illuminate the entire area.
The shelves were empty because of the infection, and a lot of people probably stockpiled their carts to get as many supplies as they can.
There's also a shootout in here as there are bullet holes and blood stains on the wall. But weirdly, it's empty with no sight of any bodies lying around. Did they go here? Or is it an infected that ate all the bodies in here?
As I head into the dark vicinity, I came across the first body, which seems to have laid there for a while based on its odor.
Let's head to a storage room to see if there are any supplies that I can stockpile. I head into the far back of the warehouse and opened the double door leading to its storage room. Strangely, It was closed. There, it contains a whole ton of supplies in here. Did I hit the jackpot why is this place not looted yet? I heard the sound of footsteps coming near me, and without any further delay, I went to cover and tried to sense where the noise came from.
Grabbing onto my holster, preparing myself for any possibility of a violent encounter.
"Who are you?" I shouted up, but there was no other footstep but just this. There seems to be no infection around. I inquired for the second time.
"Who are you?" with a more intimidating voice to make it seems like I'm ready to become hostile if they don't answer the question or assume they're infected.
Pulling out my pistol, I heard another footstep, it seems steady and nervous. It is probably a conscious human. I pointed the muzzle in the direction that the sound coming which appears to be behind a shelf. The other guy is still trying to approach me. I was planning to change my spot to confuse them further but remained still cause I want to inquire about them further.
"Why are you approaching me slowly? Are you intending to take me down? Give me a response before I shoot you in the head once you expose yourself." I outwardly threaten them to loosen their weapon if they don't have a long-range weapon in hand.
They seem to not have a firearm because their movements seem to stop the moment I mentioned that I had a gun. But they don't seem to want to surrender.
The guy is in the opposite direction from me to my left and the other to my right. I think I should take out the one on the left. With careful calculation, I racked up my speed and dashed around the shelve to my left and catch the guy off-guard or so, the girl. Quickly, I charge towards her and with brute force, I punched into her stomach and swiftly reposition myself around to her behind and kept her a hostage.
"It's over buddy. If you want to play, I can blast her head off first." The guy as predicted, step out of his hiding spot and headed toward me.
"Stop! We have no intention to hurt you." Even though he tried to persuade me to believe it, I won't.
I squeezed my arm around the girl tighter which makes her to choking up a bunch of bubbles from her throat. "Then why didn't you stop."
"We were trying to keep ourselves safe since you have a firearm. We don't know whether you would shoot us immediately the moment we stand up and surrender ourselves." He tried to plead for his innocence.
"Then why do you still trying to approach me, knowing that you're gonna die because you don't have a firearm in hand?" They do have a firearm, it appears they do. No one would dare to approach a person with a firearm unless she's a professional militant veteran.
As the girl is about to be rendered to lifeless, I loosened my strangle and let her inhale a whole bunch of air.
"We were..." He's trying to make excuses.
"You are trying to take me down." And I increased my strength to strangle the girl once again. She murmured some intelligible words to him. "H...mm...e.....uck...."
"Okay, okay, we were trying to attack you so please let go of her." I loosened my arm and kicked her knees to make her kneel on the ground, then I provoked him once more since I was trying to get intel from him.
"Then why is the storage room isn't looted? Are there other guys that are with you?" I questioned him and ripped out my Glock-19 to point at the girl's head.
"Stop! I...um...I..." He struggled because he was contemplating whether he should risk his team or save his girlfriend's life, probably.
"Tell me quick. I don't have time." there are possibilities that others in his group might hear the commotion and come towards us at this time.
"Sis!" I'm hearing some flashbacks, am I? I questioned myself as there seemed to be some familiar voice heading in my direction. I peeked around to see where the source is. But then my eyes fall onto the boy who's in his adult age, trying to plead with his sister to spare his friend while having his other friends looked at.
As I stared at him for a couple of seconds, I directed my attention toward the girl standing next to him, seemingly trying to hold him back from mindlessly approaching a person with a gun.
I froze at that moment, eyebrows said and staring with wide eyes. He had a girlfriend? Well, didn't tell me that. But how and what just happened? I swear I heard him saying he wouldn't be having anyone while keeping a stoic, cold, and expressionless face. Well, that took a turn.
I put away my pistol and retreat myself back, away from the girl and the group.
"What happened in the classroom?" I asked my brother about the incident. In addition to that, I further added, "Why are there 4 people who died?"
He tried to keep his mouth from moving but he failed miserably and had to tell the truth.
"We planned to escape from there before you came there." Someone stopped him by saying,
"Wait! That is you?" I nodded my head and directed my attention toward him once again.
"4 of us died because of an unexpected ambush. We planned out the entire thing but weren't able to fully incorporate our plans into action as most would likely fall out of formation." He sighed upon the death of his classmates.
I observed every single facial feature he brought up. What I noticed are sorrow, sadness, and regret.
"You seemed to have been through a lot." I tried to warm up the atmosphere a little bit.
"Sure, talking about you running from a horde of zombies last night and successfully escaping." He chuckled.
"It's experienced," I responded.
"Now then, what are you going to do next?" I inquired him about his next moves because he always had a plan up his sleeves whenever he got himself in a terrible position like when we got chased by our neighbor's dogs.
"None. Seems like we just rot here till the days this apocalypse ends." As expected from his response. Sounding intelligent but his mind is merely a dumbo.
"You had quite a lot of supplies to sustain you for 5 months or so. Assuming food that is contained in cans while others non-contained food be left outside or refrigerated can be saved for 1 month at max." I suggested he look for other alternatives to keeping himself and his classmates alive.
"You should be thinking about this since it concerns people who want to live, possibly including you and that girl." I noticed his saddened expression. I was expecting him to deny that he hooked up with a girl but he didn't. I guess it's real then. I turned around to walk the opposite way. "Think of a plan tomorrow." As I walked away without looking back.
My brother, Sebastian, I never treated him right, I never treated him like I was supposed to like his older sister. He wanted to resemble me as his idol but never once has I encouraged him to be like me, I wanted him to be himself, only himself, and not anyone else. He doesn't have to eat like me because he thinks that it contains all the nutritious values. He doesn't have to concern himself with how much lesser achievements he made as compared to me. He doesn't have to kill himself day and night, trying to study for an exam that I had a national recognition on. He doesn't have to.
I want him to live his life to the fullest without anyone or anything making it more miserable than it currently is. Since the loss of his mother, he wouldn't want to interact with anyone in his school. He was devastated to the point that even I couldn't persuade him to eat with me for 3 months straight.
I sat in my car for a while. Then shifted my driver's seat back to relax my back a little bit since I'm tired. Turning my head to the side, I noticed a card sticking out from the humvee's glove box.
It reads 'Happy Birthday to Fianna Casley on her 24th year alive on this Earth. Commemorating the moment that happened a year ago. I smiled at the ugliest capture of my face on the card.
"Never thought our lives could come to an end this quickly." I stuffed it back into the glove box and rested my back. Eventually, I drifted to a temporary slumber.
Morning came up, I quickly raised my eyelids to stare at the blue light sky. Shifted up from my slumped-back position, I surveyed the area to see if there are any infected nearby but it seemed a peaceful exception to those already dead laying on the ground.
Opening the door, I climbed out of the humvee and walked back to the warehouse. Surprisingly, I see my brother had intended to make this into a group base as I see people streamlining, running, around, and trying to get the necessary tools to construct walls for fortification I suppose. Strangely of all, with this kind of loud noise, none of the infected is approaching this way. It appears that they carefully selected the safest spot for their base.
I stumbled upon 2 concentrated workers who were drilling into a random steel plate to make something. As I stared at them, they suddenly noticed that I was there and looked up to lock eyes with me. But I further don't want to disturb their work so I diverted my gaze to somewhere else and continue strolling around.
They took away the cashier stand and placed it in the entrance to block it off I suppose. Quite a lot of work for... 1... 5.... 15... 24 people in this building. That's quite a lot, where did he get this many people from?
As I kept walking around with my rifle dangling in front of my chest, I received plenty of frog eyes.
Then I saw my brother, commanding every person in this building to do whatever he needs them to do.
How did he garner this plenty of trust? They gladly obeyed him without any disagreement. Unusual for sure.
I wander around for a while and kept locking my eyes in my brother's direction. He's doing his work perfectly. I never knew he had this in him. Is this a dream? In this sort of dream that a sophisticated person like him just shot out of a mama's tube and quickly picked up a book. Where did he learn this? I never knew about this. Either way... let's just go look for his girly girlfriend.
She has to be close to him, of course, she has to. As I kept walking, I soon noticed a black long straight hair girl appearing out of thin air in front of me, helping out the other girls on how to do certain things.
"Hm..." humming while pondering about how things came to so unexpectedly well. I sat on the curb outside the building to look at the far distance, where there is no trees nor houses whatsoever, just an empty parking lot with an extended farther land that no one had occupied yet. This is peaceful. I feel like I've fallen away from where I was supposed to be but this is more relaxing now. It feels relaxing when I don't have to worry about laws and regulations anymore. I took a deep breath and then puffed when I noticed someone is coming closer in my direction. I darted my head towards the person and saw that it is my brother.
"How is it?" I asked him.
"Fine. Better than ever." He responded with a grim look.
"What happened?" I inquired.
"Nothing."
"You're hiding something. Tell me." Intending to assert my dominance.
"Haiz... You kept butting into my issues." He responded rather annoyed based his rolling his eyes paired with a long-suffering sigh.
"And I raised you to this point." I took out a can of soda from my bag and opened it.
"That doesn't mean you can butt into my matters." He retorted.
"But I can curb you in the right direction, no?" I answered back with a smirk.
"The right is your perception, not mine."
"I considered most of the factors in handling a problem you might have. You agreed with me before so why don't you do so now?" I responded.
"So what sort of problem that I have?" He ran his hands through his hair.
"People wouldn't like you if you keep ordering them around like that."
"You noticed?" He responded rather in a surprising way.
"I watched." Jokingly looked at his facial expression after I said this. But he was rather confused as hell.
"How can I deal with that then?"
"Simply by taking notes of what these people are concerned about and addressing it directly," I responded with a smile plastered on my face and finger steepling.
"Just try it out in a couple of weeks to see its effectiveness. I had to go now." Standing up and wiping down the dirt on my jean, I walked away but then turned around to gesture to him to go back and make it happen then turned my head around and went the opposite way again.
Hopefully, he's having an awesome day after today.
Tapping my finger on the steering wheel. I'm bored. I've been sleeping outside in my vehicle for the past 5 days. I think I should shift my means of living a little bit higher by moving into the building.
I noticed a cargo dropoff with a ramp placed there this morning, so in the evening, I will storm the car into the cargo dropoff to park it safely. What a good idea.
I turned off my headlight and drove the car around the building to its cargo hole with a ramp. Perfect. Then I turned on my headlight to remind those in there to watch out while I pressed the gas pedal and stormed it directly into the hole without any problem. The loud sound of a vehicle driving into the building is heard by almost everyone. As I released the brakes and turned off the engine and took the key, walked out of the vehicle, and locked it. I walk towards the people who recently just peeked their heads around to see what's the commotion and gave them a waving "Hi." They immediately got back to work afterward.
Hopefully, tomorrow isn't to be a tiring day.
