After a whole day of continuous rain, it finally stopped, but the sky still wasn't clear. Layers after layers of black cloud were still visible.
Despite the bad weather, three white BMW cars were speeding toward a cemetery in the northeastern part of Grasal City,
A young man in his late twenties was driving the center car, while a man in his fifties was occupying the passenger seat.
"Dad, I understand it's an important day and we must make it to the cemetery, but you need to consider the weather. Can't we go on another day instead and skip this one?" The man behind the wheel talked slowly. He appeared to be scared of his dad.
Taking a deep breath the older man spoke sternly "If I could skip this day, you and I wouldn't be here. Shut your mouth and concentrate on driving." The voice was a bit chilly
The environment inside the car remained silent for a while.
After two-three minutes the young man again spoke, "Dad, Something doesn't feel right today. Even the traffic cops are absent from the desolate highways. I am feeling quite uneasy, but I can't put my finger on it or express it well. Perhaps we ought to strengthen security even further or head back home.—" the young man would have spoken more if the old man didn't give him a sharp glance. He had no choice but to keep his mouth shut.
"We can't bring a lot of people as the opponent would easily notice us. I have already sent a few of our men to the cemetery to make prior preparation. Few are following us. Without anyone noticing, we would be back in time. Being a business magnet and a part of the underworld, how can you act so cowardly, Neil? You are disappointing me" The old man's words were harsh.
The young man Neil spoke in a voice similar to whispering, "that's not what I want to do either…"
The old man raised his brows and then massaged his forehead, trying to control his temper. How could he not know what his son was speaking about…
The atmosphere in the car became more gloomy and cramped due to the silence. Neil dropped the window to let fresh air into the car to help with the suffocation. Focusing on driving, Neil rested his right hand on the window.
"Those bastards are watching us closely and waiting for us to make a mistake. Because of our patience, they are attempting to sabotage our position...Whatever you are investigating, is it worth facing life-threatening danger? Can't we take a step back? If not, why not make a move while the iron is hot? Why continue to wait?" Neil inquired.
"Hahh…you can't use your mind then f**king shut your mouth. Do I have to explain? I have to investigate those things even if I may lose my life. I can't let the enemy be alert before I get the final result." The old man spoke sharply while leaning on the seat and closing his eyes.
The BMW car which was behind had already disappeared behind as it couldn't catch up. Both the father-son duo hadn't noticed it.
Suddenly, Neil's eyes went to the rear-view mirror and he noticed that a few black SUVs were following at a high speed and was about to catch them.
"Sh*t we have been followed. Fasten your seatbelt, dad. We need to shake them off." Neil immediately looked through the side mirror. His aura sharpened, disappearing from his weak previous self as if it was an illusion before.
At first, Neil didn't want to disturb the old man but he had no choice due to the urgent situation.
"Neil, be careful. I think our people have betrayed us. There could be a trap. I knew those bastards are impatient to wait for long." The old man snorted and did his best to remain calm.
It wasn't that he didn't fear death but it was a result of his lifelong exposure to death. He had expected this day will approach somehow as his investigation advances, but not so soon.
The road was empty and didn't have any turn or sub-road to take beside the main road. Neil did his best to shake them off but the opponent's number of vehicles increased while the white BMW in the front halted.
"Sh*t…sh*t" Neil began to swear while trying to divert the car's direction.
Using the distraction the car in the back bumped hard. The BMW shook a little but made a way to move forward the halted car.
The other SUV still followed the car.
"Dad, can you drive? I need to use the gun to make those sons of b**ches go to hell. Are they trying to challenge our authority? Do they think they can do whatever they want? They have to know who their father is…" Neil was burning in rage.
"You would drive better than me. Let me deal with those." Without waiting for a response, the old man stretched to the back seat and brought a shotgun, and loaded the bullets.
During that time, two SUVs cornered the BMW from left and right and tried to attack, while one car bumped the trunk.
Neil slowed down, the vehicles to the left and right advanced and collided, changing the course Neil picked up the speed.
As the chasers couldn't catch the BMW, they began to fire bullets.
Bang…bang…bang…
Luckily the BMW was bulletproof and the impact was on its body part. It only created a dent and not any major problems. Neil as an expert in driving did his best to dodge the bullet.
"Open the top window. We need to finish them." the old man spoke.
"Dad, use the helmet and bulletproof vest before you take action." Neil was still concerned about his father's safety.
As his son had said he didn't reject.
With the help of a shotgun, the target was either the wheel or the engine.
Boom…Boom…Boom…
One after another the SUVs were blasted. Finally, all the chasers were taken care of.
As the old man returned to his original seat, Neil could see his right-hand bleeding. In desperation, Neil tried to stop the car.
"Don't stop. We are about to reach the cemetery so keep on driving." the old man bandaged his hand but still he sounded full of authority.
After the treatment, he checked his phone to make calls but noticed his phone didn't have a network. He couldn't call for extra help.
"Damn it… Son, I think there is an unavoidable fight approaching soon. Do your best to remain safe." The old man was still massaging his temple.
Neil wanted to ask more but seeing his father being over serious, he stayed quiet.
Finally, the car halted at the gate of the cemetery.
Even though it was already four o'clock in the afternoon, the day grew darker as even more ominous clouds formed in the sky. Showing that something was bound to happen.
