As soon as Scarlet gave the okay for me to go, I dashed in. I used [Flash steps] and quickly moved from one area to another and back to the original location to create after images of myself to throw off the ogre.
The ogre, as soon as he noticed me, lost its interest in the deer it was holding and got up from its current position.
"*ROAAR*" the ogre let out a deafening roar that made the ground quiver and all monsters in the surroundings take notice and look in our direction.
I coated myself in my armour: [Armour bent from the flames of death] and transformed Adonis into the sword I used against the cursed corpses.
"I wonder how this fight will turn out." I said absentmindedly.
I mixed [Inferno] and [Flames of destruction] while encasing the flames I produced around my sword before enhancing the sword and flames with both enhancers, [Wind enhancer]and [Lightning enhancer].
"*ROAAR*!" yet another roar was produced by the monster in front of me that was coming in for a frontal charge. It held a massive club made with magma and glared at me before swinging the club at me.
It's bulky figure rotated with the clubs momentum that was promptly blocked by my sword.
"Does it know how to fight or does it fight on its instincts? It clearly didn't think this through, well, it is corrupt so that could be the reason." I muttered, holding my sword firm and taking a step forwards before pushing my sword to push back the club of magma.
Once I pushed the club hard enough, making the ogre take a step backwards, I leaped back by about 15 or so metres.
"[Flames of destruction: -", I spoke, pointing my sword at the ogres chest, "-beam]"
The flames of destruction whirled around the tip of my sword before firing off at the ogre with immense speed and accuracy. The ogre, however, noticed this and quickly prepared a spell to defend itself.
It spun its club before bashing it against the ground with a roar.
"*GROOOAAAAR*"
The ground directly in front of the ogre began to shake and a split second later, a wall of magma rose to defend its caster, the ogre.
My beam collided with the wall with a loud crashing sound that resounded all over. Cracks were forming quickly all over the wall from my beams pressure and began to crumble so the ogre poured more MP into the wall.
The wall shone with an orange hue, that reminded me of lava, and began regenerating the breaking and already broken parts.
'The ogre will probably realise that the wall will break even with the constant regeneration and will stop providing it with MP. I assume it will jump to the side after stopping the walls regeneration, letting the beam pierce through.'
"[Flames of destruction: Arrows]" I said, causing the mana around me to fluctuate and form multiple arrows made with my flames.
I waited a little to see the response of the ogre and, just as I expected, the ogre stoped providing its MP to the wall and jumped to the side.
Realising this, I waved my hand down and the arrows rained upon the ogre.
Not losing hope, the ogre roared and swung its club frantically to hit and/or block the arrows though I couldn't tell which. It simply looked like someone flailing around.
While the ogre seemed to be in a panic I jumped forwards and swung Adonis down diagonally resulting in a long gash across the ogres body.
"*ROOOOOAAAAAR*"
Enraged, the ogre swung its club down onto my head with speed I hadn't seen it use before. I quickly moved my sword above my head to block.
'This thing has lots of strength, seemingly more than before when I managed to push it back. Does its strength grow with its anger or something?' I thought as I crouched slightly under the pressure.
Noticing me crouch slightly the ogre decided to kick me. It's foot pushed against my torso and pushed me back much further than I would like to admit.
'I think that fractured a couple ribs.' I thought, looking down at my body and rubbing it slightly, 'well it doesn't matter when it doesn't hurt.'
Skidding to a halt, I bent down and pushed with all my strength. The ground under me cracked as my feet left the floor and I moved forwards with speed I didn't realise I had.
"[Flames of destruction: Crescent]"
The crescent of flames moved at the same speed as I did and would collide with the ogre before me so I decided to use my speed to thrust into the ogre after the flames hit.
"I wonder how long we can both last." I said as the crescent collided with the ogre's body.
"*GRAAAAAA*"
..
(Tess's POV)
"*GRAAAAAA*"
I heard a massive roar coming from the ogre currently fighting with Kiera and I couldn't help but be impressed.
The ogre had massive cuts down its body while Kiera had no visible injuries which was a relief.
'Kiera really is strong.' I thought to myself while looking at her thrust her sword through the ogres body before harshly pulling it out and leaping into the air. 'And hot.'
Realising the direction my thoughts were turning I quickly shook my head and focused on the monsters I was about to fight.
'If I don't want to be left behind by Kiera and her insane progression speed then I need to focus and train harder than I already am. I won't let her down and I won't hold her back.' I was determined to help Kiera, I knew she would always try and protect me and I wanted to protect her. I wouldn't be able to bear it if Kiera was fighting someone stronger than myself on her own in order to protect me.
"I've got this, go me." With my goal in mind, I rushed into a group of monsters with my sword ready.
Currently, the group of monsters ahead of me, consisted of a ton of fire dire wolves and some salamanders while the sky was littered with multiple birds, the ones that flew lower down were the weaker ones, being the scorched birds while the highest ones were the harpies.
Kiera once told me about harpies and if I remember correctly she said that they were beast humans but they follow those that are stronger than them. The one stronger than them, in this case, is probably the corrupt ogre and therefore are going to fight us to protect it.
Harpies are half-human and half-bird with legs of birds and talons as feet, their arms had feathers under them that grew to be wings giving them access to freely roam the sky. The rest of their body, however, was human with some areas that were covered with feathers. In addition to this, some rare individuals among the harpies had feathers growing out from their tail bone like an actual birds tail.
The harpies also had a classing system. The weaker ones didn't get titles and were generally bad looking while those that held titles were much better looking. Kiera said that the stronger the harpies are then the higher better their title is and their appearance. In my opinion it's rather weird but it has nothing to do with me so I don't have to think about it.
The titles for their class is the same as humans, commoner or the regular folk that hold no titles, baron/baroness, viscount/viscountess, Earl/countess, marquess/marchioness, duke/duchess and, of course, royalty, The king and Queen.
Currently none of the monsters and beast humans that were occupying the sky were fighting and just watching for now so for the time being I need to focus on the ones on the ground. The harpies seemed interested in the fight of Kiera vs the dungeon boss while the others were looking over the area as a whole.
'Now isn't the time to evaluate the monsters, Tess, focus on those in front of you.'
I knew that my fire element probably wouldn't do me any good in these fights and I should use my water element so that's exactly what I did.
I formed multiple spheres of water in the air around me and fired them off at the monsters, when I shot them, however, they became thinner and sharper to become almost needle looking.
'Just balls of water won't do much damage so this'll be better.'
The needles of water hit the wolves closest to me and pierced through their skin. I didn't aim the needles at their vitals but at less important parts so, hopefully, they would ignore it or do little to block which would help me get hits in on them and ultimately wear them down little by little. The places I aimed would have quite a large impact on how they would be able to fight so it would be easier for me to fight them. I shot their paws, legs, ears, eyes and made some graze over their torso.
'They'll probably dodge but will still get hit in some areas despite that.' I thought.
Like I expected, some dodged but still got hurt while others either blocked or did nothing but snarl at me and maybe charge at me after.
The ones that blocked used their fire as a shield over their body, thicker in some areas like the eyes and ears as they were relatively important for them. The ones that dodged would move out of the way of the ones I fired but into another load of needles so they got injured on their legs and ears. The ones that did nothing at all got hit in every place I aimed making them stumble forwards or shake where they stood, finding it hard to stay stood up from their leg injuries they obtained. They, in addition to the leg injuries, could no longer see and had difficulty hearing, rendering them as pretty much useless.
I demobilised at least 7 of the 50 or so and injured more than half of them.
'Okay, this is going pretty well so far.'
I manoeuvred around the uninjured ones and went towards the ones that had some sort of injury. I didn't bother with the ones that couldn't move because, well, they couldn't do much and I would notice if they threw spells at me. I didn't need to worry too much about spells thrown at me by the demobilised ones anyway as they used their MP to either aid in their healing or defend themselves.
I slashed horizontally to a wolf that tried jumping away but failed to do so in time, resulting in a cut across their chest and shoulders. Then thrusting forwards into their chest at the location of their heart, they stumbled and flopped over onto the floor, dead.
I spun around on the spot, striking all the wolves that leaped at me, hitting them all and dealing injuries to those that didn't use magic to defend their bodies.
One that didn't jump at me but ran directly at me bit into my ankle and drew blood.
"Tch." I clicked my tongue, "get off."
I stabbed my sword down on the wolf that still held my ankle in its mouth, trying to bite deeper into my flesh but failing due to my tough skin that naturally came from me being a dragon.
My sword easily went through its skull and killed it instantly. When it's jaw loosened, I kicked its corpse away from me and used fire to burn it.
'This idea is pretty good with dealing with dead bodies, thanks for the inspiration, Kiera.' I smiled at that thought and continued fighting the wolves that pounced in a group.
"Come at me, once I'm done then I'll help Kiera. This won't take long, hopefully."
