Chapter 36 - Raider's Cowardice

As Souta and his team explore the base, Stacy leads the way. Despite the many fights they've had, they saw hope in the survival plan General Roger provided for the people.

Once inside a house provided by the general, Souta asks Stacy about the base's origins. "How did your father build this base?" he inquires.

Stacy explains that the government had planned for a "just in case scenario" in which they would take control if the apocalypse became uncontrollable. Each general had picked a place and stocked up supplies for the plan. When the apocalypse hit, the generals quickly reacted and saved many lives.

Souta is impressed by the commander in chief's foresight, but wonders if he's still alive. "Is he... dead?" he asks.

Stacy is confused. "What are you talking about? The commander in chief has been in charge of this country since the government shut down," she clarifies.

Albert comments on the commander in chief's reputation. "That guy is more dangerous than this apocalypse," he says, piquing Souta's interest in the enigmatic leader "Hoh?" Souta said "I will take my leave here, I will come back tomorrow for an update"

Souta couldn't sleep, so he took a walk around the base in the middle of the night. He arrived at the barricades where he was stopped by a soldier.

"Hey, only authorized people are allowed here! Go back!" the soldier warned Souta.

"Even me?" Souta asked.

"Who are you?" the soldier demanded.

"Ask your supervisors, they know me. I just want to walk around and see your defense. It's more or less good," Souta replied.

The soldiers were insulted by Souta's comment. "More or less? What do you mean?" one of them asked.

Souta explained, "Let's say there's a horde of zombies attacking you. You can easily defend that, right?"

The soldiers nodded in agreement.

"But how about a horde of zombies attacking from the inside? Your security is too focused on defense. If an attack from the inside occurs, you won't be able to defend it properly because you have to prioritize your civilians. And how about taking out the civilians? That would be easy now, don't you think?"

The soldiers looked worried.

"Being happy and enjoying life is good, but don't forget about the apocalypse. There are still dangers lurking around here somewhere. Conduct a self-defense training for the civilians and a drill in case of a zombie attack. With this, your defense will be more secured. Remember my name. My name is Souta. Tell your supervisors what I have told you," Souta instructed as he started walking back.

"Wait!" one of the soldiers called out, but before they could say anything else, Souta was gone

Early in the morning, Stacy rushed to Souta's house and began shouting, "Who do you think you are, criticizing our defense like that? We've been holding this place since day one! Even if you're from the empire, you have no right to mock us!" Before she could go on, General Roger arrived and intervened, "Stacy, calm down. What Souta said is true. We lost sight of the basics in focusing on dealing with the raiders. Thanks for speaking up, Souta."

Souta nodded, "No problem. I'm just glad to help. By the way, I know where those raiders are located. We'll take care of them this morning."

"Hmm, okay. I'll leave it to you then," replied General Roger, a note of relief in his voice

After thorough preparation, Souta and his team set out in their armored vehicle and arrived at a warehouse located 50 kilometers away from the Military base. They utilized drones to survey the area and found out that there were 100 raiders. Souta realized that it was a significant number of people and came up with a plan to use their cowardice against them.

One of the scouts stationed in a tower reported multiple military vehicles approaching, which prompted the them to quickly pack their belongings and retreat to their vehicle. As they drove away from their escape route, the first car exploded, and they found out that the route was filled with trip mines.

Panic ensued as the raider's members "were surrounded!" one of them shouted They frantically turned in different directions, but each path was filled with trip mines. Albert, one of the team members, threw dozens of grenades at the raiders, and they started pleading for help and forgiveness.

Despite their pleas, Albert mercilessly killed them all without hesitation. The battle ended in less than half an hour
