Chereads / To Be The Dark Lord / Chapter 12 - Master Of Scripture Pavilion

Chapter 12 - Master Of Scripture Pavilion

As Jon was walking absent mindedly on his way to the scripture pavilion, someone attached him from behind with a palm strike containing a great mount mana, sending him flying across the street and lodging himself on a wall.

"Who dares to sneak attack.." Jon stops mid sentence as he gets a look at his attacker.

"My dear, oh, my dear! How the hell did you practice your magic skill to have fully mastered the Mana Guardian? I hit you with 40% of my power just now, but to my surprise you came out completely unscathed?" Cersei asked identifying herself as the attacker.

'Cersei! So it was her! No wonder that attack was more powerful than Sigyn's full powered punches! Her strike at 40% power nearly broke through my Mana Guardian which is upgraded above the level cap. If she where to go all-out I would be dead by now!' Jon thought to himself.

"My lady, is there something you want?" Jon asked nervously asked sitting on ground.

"Nothing, I'm just a little bit curious... My dear has become a little deep and difficult to understand recently, and I just can't wrap my head around him." Cersei said bending over to Jon's eye level showing of her bust.

'Cersei has every right to be curious. After all, it must be incredibly shocking for someone to fully master the Mana Guardian in a single night. It's quite unlikely for someone to be that formidable.' Jon thought to himself getting up from the ground.

"What is there to understand? It's all just pure talent, you didn't marry me for just my handsome face, did you!?" Jon replied dusting himself off.

"I'm her to warn you, the chief executive will definitely try to do you in now that you have gotten in on her bad side. And I'm leaving on a mission soon, you'd better not foolishly wander around outside. You'd better be a good boy and stick to the master like a glue." Cersei warned, ignoring Jon's question.

"I'm just the matriarch's manservant, how could I possibly pester her all day? Huh? My lady, could it be that you're jealous? You can't possibly believe that I have that kind of relationship with the matriarch, right?" Jon asked in a comical manner pointing his finger at Cersei.

"I've been falsely accused! There is nothing going on between the matriarch and me, I'm completely innocent! You're my one and only true love in this life!" Jon declared dramatically going to hug her with wide open arms which Cersei dodges completely by side stepping him.

"What a glib tongue you have. But with my dear's current condition, I'm afraid you're only all bark and no bite!" Cersei said turning around to leave 'This punk is getting smarter and smarter as of late. He's not as gullible as he used to be.'

"Shouldn't my lady know my tongue best? How could you say I'm all bark and no bite?" Jon asked defending himself. 'Tch, this bitch wants to deceive me? Does she take me for a block head? But she is right. Right now, my strength is not enough to contend with the chief executive. The matriarch is my only shield.'

Jon reached the scripture pavilion. It was like a huge vintage library and had a 'scripture pavilion' sign hanging outside.

'With more than 200 source points on hand, what's most important right now is to turn them into actual strength.' Jon thought going inside the building.

Inside he met a short old man who seems to be the guardian of the scripture pavilion. He was the size of a five year old, with long grey beard which seems to reach his waist and long grey hair.

'He looks pocket sized, but he must at least be on par with the executives when it comes to power, else he wouldn't be trusted to guard the scripture pavilion, all by himself.' Jon concluded.

"The guild leader send me here." Jon said bowing to the master of scripture pavilion and handing in the green token he got from Astrid.

"It seems that the guild leader looks upon you with high regard! This is the highest token for the scripture pavilion. You can choose any magic skill in the pavilion." He said looking at the token. 'As long as it's a skill I can understand, I can record it in the system by looking at it once.' Jon devised.

"The more than hundred magic skill books you see here are the guild's most prized collection. From the most simple basic techniques to the most complex and powerful once, you'll lack nothing." The Master of pavilion told Jon, showing around the place.

There where numerous book collection in this section of the pavilion, and all of them being a magic skill.

'There are so many magic skill books here, my efforts have finally paid off! With the system in hand, not only will I bag all of the secret skills in the scripture pavilion, I'll also perhaps come across unexpected treasure... isn't this how it usually goes in sexual fantasy novels?' Jon was laughing silly with drool coming out the side of his mouth, thinking up scenario's in his mind.

'What's this little brat thinking? Laughing silly like that.' The pavilion master thought looking at Jon's antics.

~bang~

The pavilion master dropped a heavy book on a table. The thickness of the book was equal to his height.

"This is the Black Phoenix guild's ledger. It contains a record of the names and a brief introduction of all the skills in the guild. Now, hurry up and choose!" The pavilion master said showing Jon the catalogue for the scripture pavilion.

This woke Jon up from his dream of memorizing every technique in the guild.

"Can't I go through these classics with my own hands? The information I can glean from only looking at the introduction is limited. There's no way for me to find a suitable skill for myself looking through a catalogue." Jon asked in a last ditch effort to make his dream a reality.

"That used to be the case, but it hasn't been possible since Casanova Mancini, the 47th guild leader, secretly learned all the skills in the pavilion with his extraordinary knack for memory retention." he explained to Jon.

"I don't think a little punk like is very honest. I won't give you any opportunity for any slight of hand! You can only choose them from the catalogue!" Pavilion master said with a knowing smile.

"Fine!" Jon agreed out of options. 'Damn, what a crafty old fox. Still, what's up with that Casanova Mancini? Why didn't you secretly have fun and be done with it? Why did you have to spread the word around and ruin the younger generation's prospects?' Jon ranted in his mind, looking through the catalogue.
