While I was simply for Harold, street dogs were barking in the locality. I suppose they found or smelled bears as we live closer to the mountains.
I got out to take a look but couldn't find a bear or the dogs. It was a quiet night with a clear sky emitting fine shades of blue along with the tinkling balls and long strips of clouds.
The scene is so literary, I leaned against the gate of my house to just look and feel the atmosphere. This is the only pro we mountain people get aside from harsh winters, we cannot run our vehicles cause of tire skidding.

feeling the breeze on my face I glanced around and saw a cat acting in stealth mode guess she's gonna have a feast.
There was a popular mythical story carried from the ages in our heavenly mountains, about the cat, dog, and a crow. It always cracked a bit differently every time it hit my mind.
There's a dog who's a pet in an overly wealthy household and there's a cat who's not a pet and lived in ghettos and the cat used to get food from dump yards or she simply used to steal food from the slum houses or hunt rats as they were plenty in the slums.
And then there's a crow who also used to hunt small prey but he had a different style of doing things and was the most intellectual in their group.
All three knew each other very well for a long time and were friends. One day the dog and cat were eating meat together, it was A1 quality meat the dog brought with him. Soon the crow joined the party.
Crow said, "hey you heard the rumors about the mountain god and his offerings".?
"Yeah, But who would believe In such pathetic stories?". Says the cat.
"Which stories and which god "? The dog asked surprisingly.
The crow said, "there's a mountain god who resides in the cave located at the edge of the cliff, and he offers us a divine gift of changing our physical self into any creature we want."
"Oooooh," said the dog but is it true. ?
The crow said, "of course it is true, all the creatures are changing their physical forms into their desired creatures".
"Let it be crow, we are not interested, even if it's the condition is to kill your desired creature and offer it as a sacrifice to the Mountain god." Said the cat
"That's gruesome," said the dog.
"What do you think guys which animal would you like to become".? Asked the crow
None of them replies and both the dog and cat were lost in themselves.
After their mini-party, all three left for their home,
The cat truly wanted the dog's rich life, to be able to eat different kinds of meat now and then and spend the rest of the life in extreme comfort.
The cat began to think and started planning the homicide of the dog.
Meanwhile, the dog had every source of satisfaction and a rich diet, he neither had any desire for materialistic things.
But there was one thing he craved, and that was freedom, he wanted to move like air flowing from one place to another and he got an opportunity to fulfill the only desire he had. Yes, it was to kill the crow and get his body as he was the closest and an easy target.
On the other hand, the crow didn't want to anyone's body, he was already satisfied with the keen understanding skills he had.
The crow had a very close friend "rat". One night the rat came to crow and asked for help.
He said, "I too wanted to change into some superior animal, I have to spend every minute in fear of getting attacked by stray dogs, snakes, cats, and eagles there are so many predators behind us."
"I just wanted to get into one of the predator's bodies to help me."
The crow couldn't say no to the rat. He thought of every possible way to kill a higher creature for the rat, but it was an impossible task for a crow to kill such ruthless beings.
He thought maybe he could use his friends the dog and the cat as he can lure and kill one of them with stealth.
Now each one of the three was planning decisively of killing the other.
The cat concluded that there was no way she could kill the dog with her strength, it was impossible. So she reached the crow first to get help from him as the crow will give an effective plan and when they'll work together the dog can be killed.
The dog also concluded that he was too bulky and large to attack the crow, and he will never be able to catch him to kill. So the dog reached out to the cat for help, he said he needs help to kill the crow, you can catch him with your ferocious speed and reflexes.
"Ok said the cat I will help".
Now the crow had to decide which one will he kill first so that everything will work.
He also has a job to help the cat kill the dog, he found no relevant reason to help the cat. So pushed his clever brain hard and hard and finally reached a plan.
The crow went met the dog in his mansion and directly said "the cat wants to kill you and she made plans for it. If you don't believe me you must come to our usual spot tomorrow morning and confront her. Said the crow
The dog denied " she and I are friends for so long I don't think she can kill me even if she thinks about killing me. there's no way a cat can kill a dog".

The dog was concerned and agreed to do something about the cat.
After meeting the dog, the crow went to the cat and said we are having a party at our usual spot be present for tomorrow's breakfast and lunch.
The next morning on the usual spot, the crow arrived first and saw no one, later came the cat and they shared a normal talk, then came the rat.
Cat said "wow nice breakfast you got here crow"
"No he's not on the menu today... There's someone else...I mean something else, he's my friend and I invited him too". Said the crow
"Soon the dog came and stood in front of them,"
The crow's words came out "here have a seat and..... Right at that moment the cat took a leap and grabbed the crow's neck and stretched hefty jerks all around!!
The crow kept crying "Doggo !!!! attack the cat, kill the cat!!! Kill the damn cat!!!! Why are you standing still !!! Moron, she'll kill you too!!
The body of the crow was lying lifeless without a head. Wings shattered and blood splattered around.
The cat said, "here is the passage to the cliff, hold this crow and start moving upwards it's a bit long but you can do it and offer the body to god."
The dog was so much thankful for the cat and he held the crow's body and begin climbing the passage.
The cat and the dog both climbed and climbed and climbed for an hour, for 2 hours, for 3 hours, 5 hours... "Just! long is it ?" Asked the dog he said he was thirsty and needed to hydrate immediately.
The cat said, "I have some water." The dog snapped the bottle out of her hands and emptied it.
The cat poured water into the dog's mouth. The dog couldn't move, memories flashed before his eyes, and he couldn't speak nor could bark.
The cat said "You know dog, it was never about the cliff. All you had to do was chant the name of the god and ask for your wish and you would've got the crow's body."
The cat blocked the dog's windpipe and the dog died of suffocation.
The rat snatched the crow's body from the dog's mouth and enchanted the name of the mountain god and asked to let him have the body of the crow.
Eventually, the rat became the crow.
Cat did the same thing and became the dog.
At the same time when crow had gone requesting the dog to kill the cat for the rat,
The rat went to the cat and asked her to kill the crow as she can do it with ease. The cat thought the rat risked his life coming to her out of all the others.
"Very brave of you". But what do I get from it?
The Rat said, "you lived in ghettos all your life, I think you deserve a better life than this".
"I have found the source of the ghost orchid flowers which are hallucinogenic, once you mix it with some edible thing and make the dog eat it, he will lay still for hours making it possible to kill him.
"Looks like you are cleaver than your crow that's a perfect give and take". Said cat
"So what's your plan"? says the rat
The cat says I don't trust you, 'cause you might be double-crossing me how can you be trusted when you betray your beloved friend." Said the cat
"See I give you the ghost orchid mixed in a drink and you somehow manage to make the dog drink it before giving me the crow if he survives you don't give me the crow that's it." Said the rat
That's a bit of assurance and that's how the pact was made.
Mayo just snapped back after playing the whole story in her mind.
She always felt pity for them as their friendship shattered because of some horrible god.
"Oh... When did the man bring his ass home last time"?
