Chapter 286 - 286— A Day Packed Full Of Meetings

"As you wish, my Lady." Li Chuanmo teased, then raised another spoon of porridge to her lips.

Appeased, she accepted the next spoonful as she asked, "Do you have any meetings today?"

"A few." He mentioned a couple of people he had to speak with and Pei Yueran nodded. He was definitely going to have a busy day despite it being the weekend.

"What? You can't bear to part with me?"

"As if! The longer you take, the better I feel."

Li Chuanmo: "...."

Why did that sentence sound wrong?

He was definitely being dirty-minded again.

"I know you don't even mean that."

"Whatever." Pei Yueran almost stuck out her tongue at him, but then decided against it. Why was she becoming more childish as the days passed?

She continued, "Don't stay away for long though. I was thinking we could go and inform Dad and Mum about the latest developments."

"We should definitely do that. This evening?"

Pei Yueran nodded as she ate the last spoonful of porridge.

"Alright. Now I think you should get back to sleeping," he said as he dropped a kiss on her lips. She tasted like chicken porridge and flowers.

A man had to be crazy in love to be able to tell the taste of flowers oh.

"Right. I plan to call Mom and inform her as well, but I'll probably do that when I wake up." As if on cue, she let out a yawn and laid down again, "Good night then."

Shaking his head with a smile, he made sure the blanket covered her properly before letting himself out of the room.

Li Chuanmo's day was indeed swamped. He first had a meeting with the headquarters' sales director to discuss the progress of their collaboration with their potential home appliance suppliers.

Then Gong Anwei called to ask about the date for the meeting with the executives across all companies under the Li Conglomerate.

As it was going to be on such a large scale, they had to plan for weeks in advance. Because Li Chuanmo had lots of comments, they changed to a formal online meeting setting and added the secretary, Min Shiyi to continue the discussion. It took almost an hour.

Halfway through the call, someone knocked on the door of the study before Pei Yueran's face popped in. Seeing him on a call, she mouthed, 'I just wanted to check up on you.'

Unsurprisingly, Gong Anwei— this unmarried, single dog P.A — and Min Shiyi were left on hold while Li Chuanmo spoke with her and asked why she got up so early.

"It's been two hours already, how is that early?"

"You need rest."

"I'm a hardworking employee, Chairman Li. How can my boss be working so hard while I laze around in bed?" Pei Yueran said with professionalism.

"You already did all the hard work yesterday, you know, all that rid—"

His voice was drowned out by Pei Yueran's cough, while her eyes glared at him, daring him to complete the sentence.

"So just rest, and leave these trivial things to me." He concluded with a highly suggestive smirk.

"...."

Pei Yueran felt like throttling him. His meeting partners could hear them!

Min Shiyi's eyes widened, then she quickly switched off her video. No, the boss she knew couldn't mean what she thought he meant. The chairman was too much of a frozen iceberg workaholic to even think about saying that.

Although she didn't know what he was about to say before the Young Madam's cough cut him off, she had to convince herself that he was definitely talking about organizing the party. That smile on his face was just lopsided due to her camera angle, ehn, that must be it.

Gong Anwei was quite puzzled. Yesterday was the Boss's birthday, no? What work could the Young Madam have done that could make Chairman Li's huge workload seem trivial in comparison?

Then he felt like he had understood.

The Young Madam was really a dedicated employee, to find time to do so much office work whilst managing to organize such a successful dinner party for the Boss's birthday.

It must have been really hard work, and it wasn't even a week day. He had to admit that he was impressed.

So it was Pei Yueran's turn to be puzzled when Gong Anwei stopped by her office the next Monday to give her a compliment on how committed to the company she was.

But that was a future matter.

Pei Yueran decided that it was definitely a bad idea to remain here, so she escaped without even saying goodbye.

The smile on Li Chuanmo's face as he watched her go almost blinded the other two people in the meeting.

Where did their professional chairman go?!

After that interlude, they wrapped up the meeting in another half an hour. Then, Li Chuanmo had another meeting with the representatives of a company they were already working with.

He was not directly in charge of this project, but the director in charge had asked for his help to dissuade the other party from changing the contract terms they had already agreed on arbitrarily.

So he only sat in on the meeting without speaking, but just his frosty look and imperious aura was more than enough to keep those unscrupulous businessmen in line. They couldn't agree to everything fast enough, making the director marvel.

This, this was true talent!

Next was a meeting with the directors of CM Luxuries, after which he read the reports that had been sent to his email and signed off on documents that needed his attention.

The day was no different from a typical work day in terms of workload, but Li Chuanmo handled it with relative ease, all the while checking the time.

Pei Yueran didn't stop by after the first time, and Li Chuanmo laughed remembering her flustered look.

When it was some minutes to six, he wrapped up and left the study. They had a place to be.

*****

Pei Yueran went back to the room with a blushing face. Her husband was a rogue, through and through.

It wasn't his fault, it was because she indulged him too much!

But why was she so happy to do so ah....

To take her mind off her straying thoughts, she concentrated on sending a message to Zhang Heying, informing her of their impending visit.

The response came back quickly: "Great, we'll expect the both of you then."
