Still, he wished she had. He had been gone for almost nine years already. She needed someone to love and take care of her and their child.
He briefly thought about going to City A to find her, but he decided against it. Right now, his position in the Han family was not stable. His stepmother was also a vengeful person.
To this day, he wasn't sure if she had a hand in his accident or not. He wasn't convinced that it was an ordinary drunk driver that slammed into him that day. He planned to investigate properly.
Amidst so many uncertainties, bringing her and his son into the picture would spell doom for them. He wanted to keep them away from all the dirty intricacies of an aristocratic family.
Despite the logic, he almost couldn't resist the urge to go and see them just for a bit. He had not seen his Ran'er in almost nine years. Would she have changed much? Did she quit her job?
He sighed.
No, he decided. It was better to wait a bit more. Once he had everything under control, he would go to City A and get his family.

"Don't you think that's totally unnecessary?" Pei Yueran asked, wide-eyed.
"Is it really?" Li Chuanmo said calmly, as if suggesting they fly the private jet to City A was the most normal thing in the world.
It was Friday, and they were on their way to the meeting with Gaoyi Group. Pei Yueran had been tense since they met at the office, but the closer the meeting time drew, the more irritated she became.
At last, Li Chuanmo started this conversation to take her mind off the impending meeting.
"Chuan, it's really not necessary. We can just book seats on a commercial flight. If it's comfort you need, let's get first class seats."
"Fine, but it had better not be a seat on Gaoyi Airlines. I'd rather walk to City A than fly with Gaoyi." He was almost grinding his teeth just thinking about it.
Pei Yueran laughed at his petty behavior. "Why should you let yourself suffer because of him? Don't worry, there are many airlines that fly to City A, so we can just take another one."
"That's much better. I'll tell Gong Anwei to book two seats for tomorrow then."
"Great."
They had arrived at the meeting venue by this time, and Pei Yueran squared her shoulders, ready to do battle.
There was no need however, because Gao Tinghua did not make trouble for her this time. Infact, he wasn't present at all.
The second representative bowed and apologized for his absence, stating that he had to return to the Capital for an urgent matter.
Pei Yueran sighed in relief. The look on his face at her office that day made her instinctively dislike him. He was a dangerous man, someone who was not to be trifled with.
As expected, the meeting went without a hitch. Both sides quickly came to an agreement and amended the contract. A date was fixed for the official signing as well.
They were able to make lots of progress due to one person's absence, so the meeting ended on a rather pleasant note.
Since they were going somewhere together the next day, Li Chuanmo convinced Pei Yueran to sleep over. Han Yichen was already at the house, spending time with Li Yuchen.
The plan was for them to go without the boys this time, so they would stay at home together until the couple returned.
Pei Yueran had no objections. She had packed a bag each for herself and Han Yichen earlier anyway, so everything was set.
They retired to bed early after dinner. It was a peaceful, uneventful night for them.
But elsewhere, a storm was brewing.

Code Red: First Young Master is back!
This short one-liner moved from phone to phone and chat to chat, warning employees to be on their best behavior, that is, to be practically invisible.
As far as Gao Tinghua was concerned, workers should neither be seen nor heard, they just had to do their jobs efficiently. That was why employees at the headquarters avoided him like a plague.
Everyone was very happy when he left to handle the collaboration with the Li Conglomerate, it was like spring had returned.
Unfortunately, the god of Menace had now come back. It was too sad.
The object of all this sorrow and panic—Gao Tinghua, was sitting in his office, eyes closed and head thrown back, resting on his chair. He looked to be sleeping.
When a knock sounded on his door, his eyes flashed open. "Come in."
It was his secretary. She walked in slowly, swaying seductively with every step. She was so intent on walking that she missed the flash of annoyance on his face.
"I brought the files that need your attention, sir." She said, bending slightly to drop them on the table. This position conveniently revealed the cleavage she was not meaning to hide.
Her assets almost spilled out from her low-buttoned shirt in front of his eyes, but Gao Tinghua was not interested. All he could think about was a certain person with golden eyes. Was she also this endowed? He tried to imagine what she was like under her clothes.
The secretary didn't get the look she was expecting and she froze for a second. Did he not find her attractive anymore? No, she had to be more proactive, she wanted that limited edition bag that just came out on the market.
So she moved to his side and attempted to sit on his thighs, "Did you miss me? Because I missed you very much." She said in a slow, sultry voice.
Unfortunately, her voice, which he told her he liked a few weeks ago, now sounded very grating to his ears. He shoved her to the floor mercilessly.
"Go to the Finance department and collect your salary. You're fired. I'll send you some compensation money later."
Looking at her mockingly, he added, "Don't worry, it will be enough for you to buy the latest bags and whatever else you want."
The secretary got up, bowed gently and left slowly, hoping he would call her back. When she got to her desk without a word from him, she fumed.
'Whatever! Who does he think he is anyway? Is being rich everything? And what is there to like about him? He is always cold and mean, not a gentleman at all. At least I get to receive some money, which should tide me over until I get my next sponsor', she thought.
She felt pity for his fiance. Marrying this narcissistic son of a female dog wasn't going to be easy at all. Not only was he a philanderer, he was also dark. He probably had ties to the underworld. She shuddered.
She had noticed it on several occasions, but money was a great draw for her, else she would have left him.
"At least, I am free now", she thought.
