Chapter 169 - Only Path Forward

[ Apollo rushed into the great chamber while the Theikos Giotarzontas was taking place, pushing tables and tripods as he made his way inside. The golden tables and tripods of the feast were automatons animated by the divine smith Hephaistos and trundled in and out of the hall as required. Apollo was covered in his gold blood, staggering as he walked through the food spread across the floor and stumbling over the bodies of the gods of Olympus.

Zeus stomped his fist on the ground causing the entire mountain to shake. "What is the meaning of this nonsense?" He said. "How dare you interrupt such an important event and in such a state?!"

Apollo fell to his knees in front of his father, struggling to steady his breath. "They've ... They've killed Thanatos."

There was a huge gasp in the room and all of a sudden, everyone's ears were focused on what the god of prophecy had to say.

"Demeter too."

Zeus grabbed his son by the chin. "Who is it? Who is it that dares to challenge the gods and make a mockery of this auspicious occasion?"

"They are unlike any race I've ever encountered. They are mightier than the titans, stronger than the giants, and larger than the humans. They are the demons of the dark realm and they have entered Nym'Roal." ]

.

'Waleed, you know what this means?'

[Yes.]

'Any idea what I should do now?'

[I'm thinking.]

"Do not come any closer, Ares!" The hooded woman warned.

'I don't think I can beat this Ares dude ... Is this what that woman meant when she said I shouldn't try to stop it?'

Another ray of light appeared through the temple roof, and when it disappeared, Athena was standing on the temple's floor. She was also clad in a golden armor crafted by the god of smithwork, Hephaestus. Her eye gleamed even more so than the gold of her armor.

"What do you think you're doing, brother?" The goddess asked.

"These people aided the demons. They deserve death!"

Athena frowned. "And who are you to pass judgment on them?"

Ares put a cap on his fury and set his blade by his side. "What then?"

"Take them to Olympus. Father will do with them as he pleases." Athena notices Hunter just as he was done putting on the cloak. "Hm."

'Why is she staring at me?'

"You," Athena pointed to the sprite. "Follow me."

'Does she know?'

Hunter quietly followed the bright-eyed Athena as she walked out of the temple to the outside, there lay countless bodies, fallen from the battle that had occurred. "Humans and gods fighting side by side against another race, I wish I was here to see it."

Hunter looked around before shifting his gaze to Athena whose back was turned towards him. "Aren't you afraid I might attack you?" Hunter asks.

"Do you think you can beat me?" The daughter of Zeus asked the sprite.

[You can't.]

Hunter sighs. "I guess not."

Athena smiles before looking up at the sky. "It's time," she said. A beam of light from the sky surrounds them and Hunter felt himself being drawn up to the sky. The sprite soon found himself in a strange location.

It looked like an ancient akropolis a fortified hilltop and palace complex- and was located just below the peaks of a Mount.

The golden gates of the heavenly fortress were guarded by the three Horai and it contained a huge palace and also lesser palaces, and stables for horses that survived even the harshest climate. The buildings were built of stone with bronze foundations and were surrounded by cloistered courtyards with golden pavements.

'What is this place?'

[Olympus.]

[This is the Olympian akropolis that lay above the clouds and the paths of the stars, near the apex of the solid bronze dome of the sky. It existed in the zone known as the aither - the bright upper air of heaven or the shining blue of the sky. Here, the Olympians feasted on ambrosia and nectar, substances collected from the meadows of the earth-encircling river Okeanos or the smoke of sacrificial offerings that waft here.]

"Come," Athena said walking into the large, golden floored hall where the full assembly of the gods had gathered including all of the earth-, river-, and sea-deities as well as nymphs. Hunter saw some of the gods and he somehow recognised them. Among them were Poseidon, who made the sea his domain, and Hades who dwelled in the underworld.

Stormy eyed Athena and the teal-green-eyed boy entered just as Zeus passed judgment on the Gaeans. "I condemn all of you to death."

Zeus was a huge, regal, mature man with a sturdy figure and dark beard. He had a lightning bolt which he held in his hand like a javelin. He was clothed in a long robe (chiton) and crowned with a wreath of olive leaves.

There was no doubt he was the King of the Gods and befitting his role, he was attended by a large complement of lesser divinities.

His throne was guarded by four winged spirits, two male and two female. Besides the King's throne was Themis, Zeus's high councilor and the goddess of law and order, she was attended by their six daughters, the Moirai (Fates) and the Horai (Seasons). These goddesses were collectively responsible for the orderly function of the cosmos.

'Oh no.'

"Brilliant," Athena smiled, quickly forming a sword and turning with a huge swing intending to bring down the sprite's head.

Instinctively, the dark-haired boy put his hand between the blade and himself and took a step back but not before receiving a slash from Athena's sword across his forearm.

The sprite's newly received wound almost immediately closed up but not before his blood was spilled on the prestigious floor. Gold blood. Ichor.

There was an audible gasp of shock from the god's assembly. Even demigods and demigoddess do not bleed ichor; ergo, the man standing in front of them must be the son of two Olympians.

Zeus rose from his throne and all the others in the assembly rose from their seats too. "Who's child is this?" He asked the Olympians.

[ Luella found Letu tied to a huge rock and exposed for animals and beasts to feast. They would each take turns, plucking out the insides of the stray demon and eating it.

Letu's essence was bonded to Apollo so as long as the god was alive, Letu would remain so too. Another spell was also cast that made it so that, unlike other pure demons who reform in Hel if they die in other realms, each time Letu died from exhaustion, bleeding out, or the pain of having parts of your body ripped out chunks by chunks, she would reform in the very same position for the process to repeat itself all over again.

Luella fought off the beasts and animals and held her sister's hand. "No. Leave me here," said Letu. "This is my punishment for failing to protect Mother and Cora."

Luella stepped back and with tears in her eyes, a circle containing rune symbols appeared just next to her shoulders with the hilt of a sword sticking out of the center. The Darkchild pulled out the blade which was surrounded by a visible white aura and stabbed her sister with it, severing Letu's link with the god of poetry and killing her once and for all. ]
