Chapter 156 - Ternion

[ I have lived countless lives. I have learned countless languages. I have witnessed countless wars. I have seen civilizations rise and collapse, men from cradle to grave, and demons arise from below.

Sephratis existed before the Dark Majesty, before Zeus, before the Titans, and before the beginning. He went by the name Set, but he had fled from Nym'Roal along with several other Elder Gods to escape HIM, the god-eater. ]

"Wait," Kara said halting the dark-haired boy's narration. "So Set, Sephratis, and the Collector are the same people? I don't know ... I mean I've read about Set worshippers being some of the strongest air elementals but stories about the Elder Gods have been lost to obscurity. Gaia, He Who Sleeps, and Set are the three Elder Gods who we have little knowledge about. Gaia because of the religion dedicated to her worship that has persisted to this day, Set because of his historical cult that conquered and ruled most of the south, and He Who Sleeps because of the Darkforge."

"Unless you can prove that Set, Sephratis, and The Collector are the same person," she continued, "I wouldn't be able to convince the Bureau to raise the alert level and call for a joint response."

[Let's start with the connection between Sephratis and the Collector ...]

"... Sephratis death," Hunter said. "No historian except Az-Zaei mentions the death of Sephratis. Most just ignore his existence after the events of Sevado Rock ..."

[According to Az-Zaei however, Sephratis turned to dust after completing his purpose: vengeance for Nemesis ...]

"The only problem with this account is, Zeus was the one who wronged Nemesis and Sephratis never laid a finger on him."

"That's true," Kara said. "But I always thought Zeus was affected by other means ... He did lose everything at the end of it all." Kara paused and turned to the sprite. "I never thought you to be a historian," she said.

Hunter smiles. "There's very little that gets me as excited as researching past events."

'She's right though, I never thought you'd know history.'

[Not only did I live through most significant events, I was a historian in one of them.]

'I see.'

"If Sephratis never died then I guess it is possible for him to come back. But why is he gathering the gems of infinity? The stones are not special," said Kara.

[That's true. On their own, the gems are nothing but they can hold high amounts of energy without losing stability.]

"That means a gem of infinity will appear like a normal stone unless subjected to extensive research," Hunter explained.

Kara closed her eyes as she thought about it. "Huh ..."

There's a soft rap on the door before it is pushed open. An agent Hunter didn't recognize poked their head through the space. "The Grand Liberation Program is here," they said before shutting the door.

Kara turned to Hunter. "The weirdos are here so I guess we have to wrap up. For now, I'll report the incident as another attack by the Collector."

Hunter nods. "Isn't there any historian that describes what Sephratis looked like?"

"None did, why?" Kara asked.

"I wanted to tell you what the Collector looks like so you can compare him with the Sephratis for similarities."

"We have an archived video of the Collector from when he broke into a store earlier this week but it means nothing if we have no description of Sephratis."

[Hunter, two historians detail the appearance of Sephratis.]

"They are actually two historians that describe Sephratis. Az-Zaei in Twilight of the Gods, and Danke in Cosmogeny," said Hunter.

"I don't think I've heard those books before," said Kara. "I don't think I've even heard about any historian called Danke."

Hunter shrugs. "You know where to find them?" He asked.

"The preserved Library of Consandia. I'll go check it out later ... unless you want to come with me."

Hunter smiles. "If I finish with the GLP weirdos early."

"Great. I'd like to take your description of the Collector anyway."

...

"Mr. Heffernan," Sir Aragones said once he locked eyes with the sprite. "I think it's time you recall the memories you are missing, what do you say?" He asked.

"Yeah, I already got those memories back."

"You did?" Doctor Sonya of the Grand Liberation Program asked surprised.

"Uh-huh."

"How?" the doctor asked.

"I saw what caused the accident again," Hunter said. "So ... Yeah, my memories are back."

"Splendid!" The brown-haired man exclaimed. "I guess I'll be seeing you at the Metropolitan School of Mysticism come Monday."

Hunter nods. "Sure."

"Come Doctor, you're no longer needed here," he said to the doctor before he started for the door. The doctor turned and followed after him.

"Hey, aren't you supposed to be meeting with the Liberation Program guys?" Kara asked.

"That's over. I have school on Monday."

"Oh?"

"Yeah. What do you say we head to the library right away?"

Kara stares at the sprite before nodding. "Sure. Let me grab my jacket."

Kara walks down the hallway and into her office.

'Couldn't she have ported there?'

Kara soon returns wearing a black jacket before extending her hands towards him. "Ready?"

The dark-haired boy took her hands and his and soon found himself in a different location. The sprite looked around. "Is this the library?"

"No, this is five kilometers away from The Bureau branch in New Lanes, the Bureau outlaws porting any closer to its building," she replied.

"Cool. Cool," Hunter nods. "Why The Bureau though, I thought we were going to a library?"

"We are, the portal to the library is inside."

"The library is in a different realm?"

"It's not a separate realm if that's your question, it's located in an unseeable and unaccessible part of Nym'Roal. They are called Floaters."

Hunter nods while Kara stares at the dark-haired boy before speaking again. "You never told me how you got out of the situation with the Collector."

"I had some help," the Grade A student replied.

"Who was brave enough to help you against that beast?" She asked.

"Well, she sorta just ported me out of there then brought me back afterward."

"That makes sense," Kara said. "Someone you know?"

"Not really ... It was Athena."

Kara froze. "Dude ..."

Hunter laughs. "She appeared because ... I think it's better if I just show you. Do you have a knife or anything sharp?"

Kara removed the pin she used to hold her hair up and handed it to the sprite. "Thank you," Hunter said before stabbing himself with the pin. When he pulled it out, a bead of blood formed above the wound, golden in color."

Kara's mouth widens. "That's --"

"Ichor, I know. Apparently, a drop of ichor hitting the ground would summon Athena."

"Holy -- You know, if you didn't show me this I'd call you a liar."

"Yeah, I'd call me a liar too."

"This explains why but not how Athena showed up."

"What do you mean?"

"Athena led the Olympians' last stand at the Battle of Little Hugerock during the War of Heaven and Hell. She was killed in that same battle by the Dark Majesty."
