Chereads / Chaos War / Chapter 154 - Ichor

Chapter 154 - Ichor

Hunter watched as the truck sank to the bottom of the sea. He breathed out a sigh of relief, relaxing for the first time since Aislinn was taken away.

Kara appeared next to the sprite. "I've taken your friends to New Lanes," said Hunter.

"Thank you, Kara," the dark-haired boy with a slight smile. "You've been a great help."

"I was just doing my job," the lime green-eyed woman replied.

Hunter shook his head. "We both know your assignment assignment was just to keep me safe."

"I'd have gotten involved anyway," Kara replied.

"Nonetheless, thank you. If you ever need any --"

"I was literally doing my job," Kara insisted. Hunter smiles. "Where should I take you?" She asked.

Hunter approached the house he had lived in for the past few days. He knew Camille must have returned by now and the teal green-eyed boy needed to apologize to her, and others in the group, for his actions as of late.

The weather suddenly turned dark and the sprite knew even though it was sunny moments ago, it was only a matter of time before it began to rain, he was glad to be leaving the country and escaping the unpredictable weather.

Hunter exhaled.

'They are all going to die.'

The sprite paused. The thought had formed in his head, but he had no idea why.

He felt a dread in the bottom of his stomach and just as he took another step further, he saw a flash of light hit the building in front of him, destroying it.

Hunter's eyes widen in shock at the scene in front of him.

The sprite found himself speechless and panic began to seize him.

The dark-haired boy broke out of the fear that riddled him and took a step forward.

[Hunter, run!]

From the dust of the destruction HE emerged and HIS emergence brought back all of the River Pot memories the sprite was missing.

He had long horns like that of an addax, no jaws, and his mouth looked to extend well into his neck. His body looked like several bones tangled up with each other and in the middle was a bright red object that made his inside glow red. From his back were several spikes or thorns and his legs were long and resembled that of a canine forelimb. He also had a long wolf-like tail.

The horned creature had in his hands the gem of infinity which glowed ever so brightly.

Hunter remembered the being in front of him from his memories and felt as though he met him before. Nonetheless, the teal-green-eyed boy knew exactly who he was looking at; Sephratis, the god of Conjuring.

The sprite fell to his knees. The Sprite Guardians, his friends from school, and now ...

Hunter lunged at Sephratis, launching himself from the ground and aiming for the god's head.

Sephratis snatched the sprite whilst he was in the air and slammed him into the ground. The metropolitan school of mysticism student rose to his feet and charged at the god of conjuring.

Despite Hunter's freakish speed, he is unable to outpace the god who once again catches hold of the former before he can do anything meaningful and slams him to the ground.

Sephratis grabbed a metal rod from the ground, a gift from his earlier destruction, and stabbed the dark-haired boy with it.

The weapon goes through the sprite's sternum and out through his back and into the ground.

'Not again ...' Hunter thought as he felt his consciousness slowly fading away.

Sephratis turned and began walking away from the scene.

•Sector 5

"Tell me exactly what you see," Skylar said.

"Energy, different types ... Even you are a humanoid energy to me," Sophia replies. The navy blue-haired girl was wide room surrounded by glass borders while the medic was standing outside.

"So you can't see my face?"

"Nope."

"What happens if you reach for the energy in the air?" Skylar asked.

"I can get a hold of it but it turns to dark energy as soon as I do that."

"Hm ..." Skylar writes down something in her notes. "Wanna take a break?"

"Yes please."

The aqua-blue-eyed woman unlocked the glass room and Sophia stepped out from it. "Would like something to drink? We have some --" Skylar checks the fridge. "Platinum bottled water? How in g --"

"I see you've fallen victim to the platinum takeover."

"What?"

"The bottled water in your fridge, that's Hunter's doing, it's one of the first things he does when he starts living in a place."

"Ah. How long have you known Hunter?"

"About four or five years now. Why?"

"Just a follow-up on you saying you can't tell what I looked like. Do you remember what he looks like?" Skylar asked.

"Of course. He's one of the people I don't think I can forget, no matter how hard I try. I still remember what you looked like ... Chelsea, Aislinn, and Hachimura too. Jade and Leah as well ... Zoe too. Maybe I'll forget what you guys look like in time."

"But not Hunter?"

"Definitely not," Sophie said with a slight smile. "What do you think he's doing right now?"

"You've known him the longest, what do you think?"

Sophia placed her hand over her mouth as she thought about it. "Probably something stupid."

.

.

.

"Not this time!" Hunter wrapped his hands around the metal and pulled it out from his chest. The dark-haired boy then stamps it onto the ground and uses it to support himself to his feet.

"Where do you think you're going? We're not done!"

The ground was tangible as the sprite could tell he was on something. However, it felt as though he was floating in the sky since the ground and the sky mirrored each other and it felt like he could touch the sky if he stretched his hand.

Hunter scanned the surroundings surprised by how he got there but his search soon came to a pause when his eyes found a youthful-looking woman clad in armor of black and gold.

Hunter opened his mouth to ask who the woman was but he got his answer from Waleed.

[That's Athena, Pallas Athena.]

Athena was tall with dark blonde hair and brown eyes.

"I was going to ask what you were doing in Nym'Roal but now I see, you are not an immortal."

Hunter's eyes widen. "What?"

"Do you know who I am, mortal?"

The teal-green-eyed boy nods. "I have no idea why I'm here though," he said.

"You summoned me."

Hunter wanted to ask 'how?' but Athena spoke again. "I heard your pleas when your blood hit the ground."

"My blood h -- I think my blood has hit the ground several times before, no offense but where were you then?"

"What color was your blood back then?"

"What c -- the regular color ... Red."

"Not this time. Your blood was ichor, it hitting the ground was what made me appear."

"My blood was I --" Hunter checked his body for any sign of injury.

"You heal quickly. You say your blood was red before, why did it change?"

"I was hoping you'll tell me why."

Athena placed her index and middle finger on her temple. "I don't think I've seen or heard about anything like this without interference from --" she paused and looked straight at the Met School of Mysticism student. "It's time for you to leave."

"Huh?"

"Take care of yourself, I do not wish to be summoned by a mere mortal again."

"Wait --"

The goddess snaps her fingers and Hunter reappears in the location he was when the former took him only Sephratis had left and scores of men in black armored uniforms were on the scene.

Hunter felt a tiredness wash over him and immediately fell to the ground.

He heard footsteps approaching him followed by someone shouting the words: "I think I found something!"

"I can't --" Hunter closed his eyes as his consciousness slowly faded away.

•Somewhere.

Vittoria looks at the beach from the place she is going to be calling home for the foreseeable future.

The Supreme Leader had sentenced her to exile somewhere far away as punishment for her actions as Director of the Intelligence Core.

Some of the members of the security council called for a harsher punishment but when the Supreme Leader sought advice from the Attorney General, the latter advised him against such measures.

"Vittoria acted in accordance with the secret sections of the constitution of the United Republics. We should be looking for ways to quietly repeal the sections of the constitution that grant the Intelligence Core and its Director that much power in the first place."

The door sliding open caused the grey-haired woman to turn. A guard was showing the Director of Transnational Intelligence to her place.

"Kieran?" Vittoria said surprised. "Missed me already?"

The large, maroon-eyed man doesn't respond, taking in the building first. "Cool, right? This is like a vacation house for me until I get out."

"I don't think you understand, you're going to be here until your final breath," said the blonde man.

The corner of Vittoria's lips curls upward. "Supposedly."

Kieran's eyebrows furrow. "I read the first part of your report."

"You were always a quick reader."

"You sanctioned the creation of anti-mystic weapons."

Vittoria inspects her blue-painted nails. "We had a lot of budget, I needed to spend it on something," she said.

The director of Transnational Intelligence frowns. "Don't you get it? You're asking us to go to war against the mystics! A war we're not prepared for!"

Vittoria smiles. "You, Camille, Olivia, and Skylar are thinking the same. You're trying to prevent a war, that's already begun."

"The others!" Hunter exclaimed as he rose from the bed.

"They're fine."

Hunter turned to see Leah sitting next to him.

"Hey."

"Hey."

Hunter looked around shaking his head. "Where are we?" The dark-haired boy asked the vampire.

"New Lanes, Jade should be back any minute now ... Do you remember what happened?"

"I do ... I remember everything including River Pot."

"Maybe I should go get Jade ..."

"I'm fine," the sprite insisted as he sat upright. "Would you like to feed?"

Leah's eyes widen. "What?"

"I know Jade can go eight months without feeding but I'm pretty sure it's not the same with you, I can tell you're hungry."

"I don't think I'm supposed to --"

"Leah ... I was going to cut myself anyway so you'll be doing me a favor."

"Are you sure?" Leah asked.

Hunter rolls up his sleeve. "Yes, go ahead."

Leah holds Hunter's arm, looking deep into the dark-haired boy's eyes before sinking her teeth into his arm. The sprite felt no pain as the vampire fed from him, when she retracted her teeth, Hunter looked at his hand, his blood was gold.

'Looks like Athena was right, my blood is gold.'

Leah looked at the blood with wide eyes. "That's --"

"Yup," Hunter said as the wound closed up.

[How would like to know about my past?]

'You're going to tell me about the class wars?'

[No, you're getting that. How about I tell you about the War of Heaven and Hell.]
