Chapter 149 - A Boring Person

• United Republics.

"Excuse me," the attractive woman with long gray hair that she wears in two knotted rings with ribbons entwined in them and squared bangs which have cheek-length locks on either side said, stopping a maid that was sweeping the hallway.

The maid turned to her. "Yes?"

"The woman that was in this room, where is she now?"

"Ms. Betton?" The maid asked. "She was discharged yesterday night.

"Ah, thank you," said the gray-haired woman. She walked out of the building and into her car and drove away.

A few minutes later, the blue-eyed woman arrived at an estate. She got out of the car and input a passcode on a panel right next to the gate. The gate makes a loud beep noise before sliding open. The grey-haired woman jumped back into her car and drove into the estate.

After driving for a while, she arrived at a mansion. She parked her car in front of the building before placing her hand on the scanner in front of the door.

The door slid open and the gray-haired woman walked into the building. She looked around the house but found no sign of life except for the aroma that filled the room's atmosphere.

The blue-eyed woman followed the scent to the kitchen where she found the culprit stirring something in a pot on the stove.

"Erica," She called, causing the other woman to jump. She was a spitting image of her. They had the same gray hair although the former's was long and straight, the same light skin, and the same blue eyes except one was more assured than the other.

"Vittoria! You scared me!" Erica exclaimed placing her hand on her chest.

"Get out!" Vittoria ordered.

Erica tries to frown but ends up making a cute face instead. "I just want to make some waffles," she said meekly despite her best attempts to sound firm.

"And I said get out," said Vittoria. "I'll change and finish the food, you just go ahead and wait in the dining room."

Erica's expression saddened. "It's just waffles, sis, I promise I can handle it."

Vittoria raised an eyebrow at her sister who sighed before walking out of the kitchen.

The blue-eyed woman turned off the stoves before going up to her room and changed into a blue kimono decorated with a floral print, with a maroon obi and a white tabi. The twins were adopted at a young age by a Japanese woman who made them wear kimonos whenever they were at home and that became a habit for the gray-haired woman.

She returned to the kitchen and took out a frozen chicken from the freezer.

...

Vittoria served the different foods she had prepared on the table ranging from rice to chicken to salad.

Erica looked from the variety of food to her sister. "I just wanted waffles you know," she said.

"You need more than that after what happened," Vittoria replied as she walked back to the kitchen and returned with some more food.

"I'm not going to collapse again, I promise," said Erica.

"I hear you," Vittoria said as she returned to the kitchen.

"There's more?"

"Yes."

"You want any help with moving some of the plates?"

"Stay seated, I got it," said Vittoria as she returned with several plates and carefully placed them on the table.

"I'm your older sister you know, you can't keep ordering me around," Erica argued.

"I can if you don't take better care of yourself," Vittoria countered.

Erica sighs. "You're never going to let this go, are you?"

"I just never want to see you in the state I found you ever again."

Erica took a couple of bites from her food. "Mhm ... Delicious," she complimented. "Mom's rice is better though," she said.

"Yeah, I don't think I'll ever reach that level," Vittoria concurred.

"I miss her," Erica said.

"You want me to get you a cat?"

Erica looked from the food to her sister. "Where did that come from?"

"You're always home and I rarely am so I thought you'd like a little company."

Erica smiles. "It's fine ..."

"You're right, your body would probably react badly to cats anyway."

"... How's work?"

Vittoria raises an eyebrow. "You don't like when I talk about work."

"I never said that!" Erica politely exclaimed. "You had to leave the hospital quickly after you were called in, what happened?" she asked.

"Have you seen the news lately?" Vittoria replied with a question to which Erica shook her head.

"A store in West Lionwell was robbed."

"Oh no! Are the shopkeepers okay?"

"It was a small store and the robbery happened after it was closed."

"So no one was hurt? Thank goodness."

"36 people died, no injured victims."

Erica froze after hearing that. "D -- Did you at least catch the robbers?"

"It was just one and no we didn't."

Erica nodded and returned to the food in front of her. She took a spoonful and stuffed it into her mouth, chewing for a while before looking at her sister. "Does it have to do with supernatural stuff?"

Vittoria nodded.

"So it's out of your hands right? There's an organization outside the UR that handles that sort of thing," Erica said.

Vittoria shook her head. "Not this time; I blocked them from interfering in the matter, though I doubt that'll stop them. I have to meet with the Supreme Leader to discuss that later today," she said.

"He doesn't know about you blocking them, does he?"

Vittoria sets her chopsticks on one side of her plate, giving her sister her full attention. "No, he doesn't," she shook her head.

"Are you in trouble?"

Vittoria smiles and picks up the chopsticks to continue her meal. "Finish up; a new episode of your favorite show will start airing soon."

• Vrotland, United Republics.

Hunter, Maxine, and Ishani waited in the middle of their living room. They had received a call from the former Alpha Sector director that morning telling them she would join them in Vrotland as soon as later that day.

Max and Hunter threw shots at each other while Ishani tried her best to stay out of the whole thing.

Sometime later, a portal opened in the middle of the room, and Sypha, Aislinn, and Camille all jumped out of the portal.

"Oh wow, you brought a whole team with you," said Ishani.

"Hunter!" Aislinn exclaimed. "I haven't seen you since Dreieck," she said. "You don't even call even though you got me a phone and we have a lot in common."

Hunter raises an eyebrow. "Like what?"

"We're both anti-establishment, we like hip-hop, and I too read the last chapter of Storm 01."

"How am I anti -- wait what do you mean 'I too'?"

"Well ..." she said cutely.

"You hacked me, didn't you?"

"Just a little bit, I only checked your --"

"I thought you said I was a boring person and you only hack interesting people."

"I don't remember saying that?"

"Eurgh!" Hunter facepalms.
