Circe reunited with Daria shortly after she started living in the witches' capital. The two embraced and wept but didn't say anything for some time. When the spell broke, it was Daria who spoke. "I'm sorry I called you an abomination, that was wrong of me to say," she apologized.
"It's fine, it's fine," Circe dismissed. "I too said some things I regret to this day."
Daria shook her head. "You were not wrong though, many lost their lives for no real reason," said Daria. "When you told me that ... I knew you were right but I didn't want to believe you ... I just ... I just really wanted to hurt you and said whatever came to my mind. I've always been jealous of you Circe ... I'm jealous of you because you're special."
Circe chuckles in between her sobs. "I'm special? Daria, you're the special one among the two of us. Not just your strength and wisdom but everything else. You were the reason we went into the library that faithful night, if it wasn't for you, we never would have learned the truth about the Dark Majesty. And the other times when I wanted to abandon the search you were the one who encourage me to keep moving forward."
Daria smiles. "I guess we're both special then," she said.
"Yes," Circe agreed. "It's why we found each other."
They spent the rest of the night and much of the next day telling each other their stories from after they'd separated. Circe didn't tell Daria about her new eyes or the Darkforge but it was only a matter of time before she revealed to the dark mage that she had found the latter.
Daria was ecstatic to finally set eyes on pages of the Darkforge. When Circe told her of her plan to establish a mystic empire, Daria was supportive. The plan was to first exterminate the witches, their hatred mostly stemming from the fact that the witches were against the Dark Majesty during the War of Heaven and Hell.
However, before they could enact their plan, a man named Cal-Ra appeared in the non-mystic-ruled kingdom of Yorkford. Cal-Ra was a non-mystic human who claimed to be the human incarnation of the Dark Majesty and laid claim to the demon's old terrain.
Annoyed by the claims and defamation of their idol, Circe and Daria convinced Hecate to capture the impostor before the matter escalate. It took some time but eventually, the Queen of the witches would react, sending her mage sisterhood and Circe to fight Cal-Ra who had been welcomed into the Fire Breathers kingdom. The battle would cause devastating losses for both sides forcing Circe, Daria, and the mage sisterhood into retreat.
The Fire Breathers would then retaliate on a magi kingdom. This would spark a war between the two groups and be the first of the ensuing Class Wars.
Circe and Daria had taken refuge at the magi kingdom of Ysrutipals when the Fire Breathers attacked unexpectedly. The duo try to rally the mages into defense but their plan is ripped to shreds when Cal-Ra uses his knowledge of alchemy against them forcing them to retreat to the witches' capital.
Upon their return, a court was called to discuss what was to be done about the alchemist.
"No offense mother, but I've insisted on how much of a problem Cal-Ra would be long before he garnered such a following," Circe stated.
"Yes. I had refrained from acting against him because I was afraid arresting him with gain him a cult of personality but I see now that I'd made the wrong choice," said Hecate. "Tell me what you believe should be done."
"I say to march the Devites to Ysrutipals and destroy every single one of them!" Daria suggested.
"That wouldn't do it," an elder witch disagreed. "We need to have all of the mystic world on our side. We must first convince the other councilors to understand what allowing a person like Cal-Ra in our world could lead to," she stated.
Hecate agreed to the plan and a council meeting was called. At this time, new seats had been added to the council and the councilors were Hecate, Mene, Sirae, Conan, and HIM. Lilith would only join the council the next year.
The meeting went on for days and days with no real outcome until when news reached the five councilors that Jade had joined Cal-Ra and the Fire Breathers.
This would change the view of most that Cal-Ra was an impostor as Jade was the top aide to the Dark Majesty and she would only follow the non-mystic if the claims were true.
Plenty of Demons and pure demons moved from Hel to Nym'Roal to join Cal-Ra. Afraid the return of the Dark King would lead to insurrection all around the mystic world, the council of mysticism declared Cal-Ra a terrorist and an insurrectionist.
Elsewhere, the news of Alastair and Jade joining Cal-Ra hit Circe and Daria hard, the duo becoming miserable because they had turned the world against their idol.
"This our fault, Circe, this is all our fault," Daria cried. "What do we do? What do we do?!" She repeated, the fact that they had engaged in multiple battles against the alchemist affecting her ability to think straight.
"I don't know, I don't know!" Circe cried. "I don't know," she whispered.
After the declaration by the council, Hecate would send her Devites to fight against the Dark League, the name used to describe followers of Cal-Ra.
The dark witches would be victorious in several battles they fought pushing the league back into the Fire Breathers kingdom. However, the assassination of the heir presumptive to Sirae's throne would see the Devites become top suspects, forcing Hecate to recall the group back to the capital. Her actions, unfortunately, would do little to prevent a war between vampires and witches.
Months later, Circe would come up with a cynical plan that would see them gain the trust of Cal-Ra and join his side. She approached her dark mage friend that very day to discuss her thoughts, as dark as they were.
"You want us to kill the Devites?" Daria asked surprised.
"Shh! Not so loud," said Circe. "Think about it: the Devites have been a huge obstacle in the league's path. If we were to destroy them, he'll accept us even though we're from the witches' capital and maybe he'll forgive us our sin."
They enacted the plan that night, Circe cast several spells preventing the dark witches from leaving Fort Baluarte, where the Devites slept. Daria then uses a powerful chaos magic spell to bring the fort to the ground and burn the rubbles, killing the Devites.
When the duo tried opening a portal to teleport away from the magic, they felt their magic locked.
"What's happening?" Daria asked surprised and confused.
"It's my mother, only she has the power to do something like this," said Circe who had assessed the situation correctly. Hecate felt when the chaos magic spell was cast and immediately cast a magic negation spell throughout the whole capital believing that the dark league had attacked.
Circe and Daria then retreated to their chambers in hopes that the magic negation spell by Hecate is lifted with the daybreak when the councilwoman realizes the damage had already been done.
When the sun rose the next day, however, Daria was arrested for the use of chaos magic and possession of the Darkforge.
The dark mage was locked in a secret location and tortured by the witches, it took Circe weeks before she found out where her friend was locked at. The light red-haired woman's eyes became hooded with tears once she sees the state her friend was in.
"Daria ... Daria get up, I'm getting you out of here," she said trying to drag her friend up from the dirt.
"Circe?" The dark mage called barely getting her two eyes open.
"Stand up Daria, remission is just a step away," said the yellow-eyed woman. She could not use her instant transmission ability to get them both out of the dungeon because of magic negation crystals around the walls and was afraid to use chaos magic after what happened the first time.
"No!" Daria exclaimed pulling her arm from Circe's grasp.
"Daria ..."
"This is my punishment, Circe. This is my punishment for my part in the war against the Dark Majesty," she said before breaking into soft chuckles. "I lucked out ... I lucked out; I get my punishment now. Many such as yourself don't get that luxury until judgment day ... That's when you would be punished," Daria declared.
Circe froze for a second. The duo had learned about the judgment day from a book in the library at Aeaea. According to the writing, The Dark Majesty would return and hold the final trial of all the mystics. He would establish the Dark Empire and rule with great good and punish evil greatly.
Circe shakes herself out of the trance. "No," she said grabbing Daria by the arm once more. "You don't get to decide that. You can't just sit still and decide this is your punishment for your crime against him ... Only he can decide your fate. Now get up so we get out of here."
The light red-haired woman pulled up her friend and began dragging her out of the dungeon. They only started making their way out when Camille appeared, blocking the exit.
Camille Lovelace, was at the time, a part of Hecate's coven. She had noticed when Circe tried sneaking into the dungeon.
"Lady Circe," she said calmly.
"Move out of my way," said Circe.
"Leave the prisoner behind and I'd gladly do so," the red-eyed woman responded.
Circe set her dark mage friend against the wall before putting her fist up ready to fight her way out of the dungeon. Both women knew they would not have their powers but it didn't stop them.
Circe charged forward and throws a punch at Camille who dances her way out of harm's way. They continued the fight for some time with the red-eyed woman using a more conservative style as she had all the time while the yellow-eyed woman was on the attack as she needed to power her way out of the dungeon before the reinforcements she knew were coming made their way there. This plan failed when Hecate herself arrived causing the dark mystic to stand down.
...
"What were you thinking?!" said Hecate. "Trying to save your friend after she used chaos magic and killed my Devites? That's unacceptable and unforgivable," she stated.
Circe only sat still with her head low as her mother went on and on about chaos magic and how Circe's actions would affect the witches' and other mystics' respect of the both of them. The red-haired woman was ready to accept whatever punishment but her mother only had her locked in a room with magic negation crystals for an extended period. When she was allowed outside again, her friend Daria had been executed and Cal-Ra defeated; betrayed by his comrades: Kendi, Jade, Leah, and Yves, a group she vowed to kill "in the worst way possible."
Circe left her mother's coven once more to join a new group whose goal was to resurrect Cal-Ra. Afraid the pure demons wouldn't accept her since she was the daughter of Hecate and not a pure demon, Circe uses a medallion to change her look and convince Alastair, the leader of the group at the time, to let her join. Sensing the huge power within her, the pure demon had no objections and allowed her into the group.
She stayed in the group pretending to be a pure demon for almost a decade before one day she smelled a vampire in the Darkforgers sanctum. The dark mystic followed the smell and stumbled upon a conversation between Alastair and Jade who was trying to convince the pure demon to abandon the group.
"Think about it, Alastair, the Dark Majesty is one of the strongest beings ever, and he bested you in his human form. Do you really think Kendi and I could have killed him if he didn't want us to? And Yves who loves him more than anything wouldn't do anything about it?"
Alastair sighs. "Was that what he wanted?" He asked. "To die?"
"Frankly, I have no idea what the hell is happening but I'm just trusting his plan, whatever it may be." With that, Jade made her way out of the sanctum, glaring at the disguised Circe who was standing by the door before walking away.
Circe had a lot to think about but the parting words of Jade rang in her head for the rest of the day and all of the night.
It seem she wasn't the only one doing a lot of thinking as the very next day, Alastair left the group. Circe disappeared from the sanctum soon after, journeying around the world for a few years, meeting Jade, and returning to Aeaea and spending a good chunk of the next millennium on her island until her mother would visit and offered the position of director of the demon control agency. The dark mystic accepted the offer and invited Jade to join her - the two had kept in touch with each other since their meeting. Circe would then change the agency to include public safety - protection of non-mystics.
Circe would go on to live a fairly boring life until more than five hundred years later when she would figure out that Jade and Leah had been monitoring a Skyline teenager named Hunter Heffernan, Circe would also take interest in him although she found nothing interesting about him.
Later, Hunter would be arrested for use of chaos magic and Circe had an idea as to why Jade and Leah had been following him. The light red-haired woman then attended the boy's trial and when the sprite was brought into the courtroom, Circe could see a demon hanging above his head thanks to her specter eyes.
She stared in awe as the boy walked past her. Her mind was blank and her mouth couldn't form any words. Even though she had suspected that was the case, she couldn't believe what her eyes were seeing;
The Dark Majesty has returned.
