"No," Yves cried. "Noooo!" She yelled holding close to her the corpse of her father.
She hears the footsteps of her husband and quickly got up to hug him. "They are gone ... All of them gone," she cried burying her head on his shoulder.
"It's going to be okay," he comforted but the fire breather remove her head from his shoulders, "that's not enough," she said. "What do you want then?"
"Vengeance."
He stayed silent for some time, not saying anything for a while before finally speaking again. "If you feel it'll help you find peace, go for it," he stated.
"Come with me?" She requested and he nods.
He takes some steps back while his wife takes off her dress and set them aside before transforming into a large red dragon with golden irises.
He picked up the cloth from the floor before climbing onto the back of the dragon. She took to the air, flying for a couple of kilometers before they began to see the village from above. They fly past the village while the inhabitants, a race of orcs, looked up in terror. The couple reach the castle before making a turn and lowering a bit. Yves opened her mouth and began raining fire on everything and everyone.
The castle crumbles as it is struck by the raging blaze and the people around are either crushed by the falling building or burnt alive from the fire.
Yves moved on, burning everything on her path from the castle to the village. The villagers try to run but there was no escaping the shifter's wrath.
Hunter opened his eyes and rolled to one side of his bed to check the time on his phone; 5 AM. He took a quick shower and decided to get dressed and wait for Jade. As soon as he put on his final article of clothing, there was a honk from outside, by Jade he suspected. Hunter heads out to meet with the vampire.
She rolls down the window and let out a low whistle, admiring his outfit which consisted of a turtle neck shirt and jean trousers. "Better accommodation looks good on you," she said.
"Thanks," Hunter says with a small smile before sliding into the car.
"Are you okay?" She asked. "Yeah ..." Hunter replied.
"Cal-Ra ... What was he like?"
Jade raised an eyebrow, "why are you asking that all of a sudden?"
"You told me you've been alive for 3000 years so you must have witnessed the class wars ... What was the man who started it like?"
Jade narrows her eyes, "he was a human who was well versed in alchemy, I worked for him briefly ... Then killed him when things got out of hand," she revealed.
"Wait what?"
"It was actually Drumalak that killed him but we planned it together ... Is there something you want to tell me?"
Hunter shakes his head, he was now confused more than anything. Was Jade lying just now? She didn't look like she was but then why is she now working with him again?
Also, everyone keeps saying Cal-Ra was a human when Waleed uses chaos magic and is a necromancer, so was he wrong?
They continued the drive in silence while Hunter tries to put everything he knows about Waleed to figure out who or what he is. It was almost sunset when they reached Alastair's house. The demon was outside his house and by his side was a pen and book while in front of him was a rat, dead.
The pure demon took out a blue pebble and set it next to the rat. The pebble glows and glows before bursting and turning to dust. The rat whips its tail as it rises back up and moves towards the demon before falling again; once again lifeless.
"The subject came back to life for 3 to 4 seconds before it died ... The experiment was a failure," Alastair says and the pen next to him wrote what he said in the book. Jade sighs, shaking her head. "My six years experiment just hit a dead end, leech. I'm in no mood to argue with you," Alastair says.
Jade rolls her eyes, "I was not going to say anything," she stated.
Hunter moved closer to the pure demon and squats next to him, "what were you trying to do?" Hunter asked curiously.
"Bring the rat back to life," the pure demon replied, "I overwhelmed the rat with black magic energy until it died and I'm now trying to bring it back. However, the excess energy within it from when it was first alive seems to still affect it even after the resurrection," Alastair explained.
"Did you try using the darkforge?" Hunter said drawing surprised faces from all including himself. "What is the darkforge?" Hunter asked surprised.
"You're right!" Alastair jumps surprised, "I forgot about that, I just have to find it!" He stated, "come, let's send you to the in-between so I can start searching," the demon says walking into his house with a wide smile.
"What the hell is the darkforge and why did I mention it?"
"The darkforge is an indestructible book that contains a number of powerful chaos and black magic spells," Jade explained. "I've never heard of it before, how did I know to recommend it to him," Hunter said.
"You don't know about it but Waleed certainly does ... I think you're starting to get his memories," Jade suggested.
"I see," Hunter said.
They move over to Alastair's bedroom where the demon was already waiting for them at. "What are we doing today," Hunter queried.
"You're going to try and read Chelsea's memory," said Jade.
"I can do that?" Hunter asked. "Yes," the black-haired woman replied, "necromancers can see the memories of dead souls they form a link with," she explained, "Waleed would guide you through it," she added.
"About that ... The two of us aren't really on speaking terms anymore," he stated.
Alastair sits on his bed, "Ooh, trouble in paradise?"
"Hunter --"
"I can do this on my own," Hunter cuts her off. She sighs before speaking again, "ask him for help if you need one," she said.
Hunter nods before climbing onto the bed. "You have two earth days to figure out all you need to know before I break the link completely ... I can tell it's already affecting you," Alastair added.
"Sure." Hunter lies next to the demon and takes his hand. "Seriously, your hand is very soft, what's the secret?"
"Can you send me to the in-between already?" Hunter said.
"Fine. Open your mind and ... Focus!'
