Chapter 3

Knock knock

Lucian groaned, tossing on the bed as the immense sound of knocking pulled him out of slumber. He was just having his rest two days ago after he checked the campus and found nothing, but there was a particular faded scent that left him and his Lycan on their toes.

He came to his penthouse yesterday night before falling on the bed without changing his cloth or showing. He was tired.

His nose scrunched at the nasty scent of his fiancé. He didn't feel anything for her. Thanks to his Lycan, who felt like snapping her head, they couldn't because they were bound by dealing with humans.

"Lucian baby," he heard her high-pitched voice on the other side.

He went to open the door on his crumpled shirt, dangling tie, unbuckled belt, and messy hair.

"Hi" he muttered dejectedly while Greta had a broad smile on her face.

"Baby," she screamed, wrapping herself around him as she pushed his mouth forward to kiss me, and he swiftly turned his head, making the kiss land on his cheek.

Female humans are too touchy. He felt grossed and gave her a forced smile before wiping his cheek.

"I miss you, baby," she pouted, went to bed, and sat on the bed.

"We met four days ago," he pointed out.

"Yes, I know, but it felt so long," she whined, standing up to his height and then trying to unbutton his shirt while he stopped her.

"Go wait for me in the dining room. I'm going get change and meet you," he smiled, pushing her out of his room.

"Can't we just bury her?" Eros asked, craning his nose.

Lucian went to the window and opened it for fresh air to carry her scent away.

A scowl permanently latched itself on Lucian's face as he remembered he had a meeting with some client today and also had a date with the leach he called fiancé.

Humans were too complicated, and wolves were very loyal, but humans were the opposite.

Lucian entered the big scented bathtub, already prepared for him, as he soaked himself in the warm water and sighed. He rested his head at the edge and closed his eyes, relishing the pleasure of the water on his skin.

After bathing, he walked to his closet and picked his suit for the day.

He wore his dress and took his wristwatch before he did his tie. He looked at the mirror one more time and nodded.

"Baby," he was met with Greta, who had a dreamy face. "You are handsome, boo".

He didn't respond and walked past her, going to the dining room. He ate his food in silence as Greta continued to fawn over him and rambled.

He hated human contact and human existence. They were leeches that he needed to protect them like the race. He tugged his tie tiredly, already frustrated that the ladies were staring at him like their favourite candy. And the continuous contact that Greta was touching him, staking her claim on him.

"Can I have a picture?" a lady said, and Greta scowled at the woman as the woman gave Greta a middle finger.

'snap her head', Eros commented annoyingly.

He wore into his building, his ears picked up the commotion of Brady noise, and he frowned about the problem. As he took steps, his Lycan was feeling antsy, pacing at the back. He didn't understand why his Lycan felt like crawling out.

Lucian scoffed, staring at Brady shouting at poor humans, and he raised his brow, "You can't work here looking like a…." Brad's voice died down immediately as the clicking sound of footsteps could be heard.

Brady's shoulders tense, and everyone assembled, bowing their heads in submission. Well, most of his workers were wolves - his pack members. They only employed a few humans.

This scent, his Lycan mumbled as he sniffed the head but stopped when the human lady swiftly turned around and collided with him. He felt exhilaration sizzle through him, and he welcomed the hit. Sparks flew around his body.

His eyes flashed in recognition as he wanted to pat her hair, the cups in her hands flew, and all of them drenched him.

Shock gasps could be heard from his pack members, even Brady. They were afraid for her. The result of disrespecting him, but what they didn't understand was… his thought was interrupted when she opened her mouth and smiled brightly, and his legs buckled to fall on his knees.

"Woah, you are beautiful," he has been complimented by humans, wolves, vampires, Fae, and others, but this was the first time he was called beautiful, and he loved it.

Lucian loved the feeling of her eyes on him, how she was staring at him, assessing him, and he hoped to be to her standard. The petite female in her was the most beautiful lady he had ever seen in all his existence. Her thin brows fitted to her brown skin, and the nose ring beautified her small nose. Her brown doe eyes stared at him like a bit of lamb, wanting to be kept away.

He felt giddy under her eyes, and he wanted to see the approval in her eyes, "oops," her eyes widened in mortification, and he lowered his head to know what caused it but released a deep rumble when he felt her palms on his chest. He shivered in delight, Eros purring at the back, like the feeling.

"Stop," he said, his voice coming out deep and hoarse on desire. When he noticed she wanted to drop her hand, his eyes widened, and he quickly held the hand. He loved her touch.

His breathing went on short pants when their eyes collided; emotion swirled in his eyes from shock to mesmerise to joy to happiness. He couldn't believe he was given, and he couldn't believe he wouldn't be lonely again. He couldn't believe that he had his own person. He couldn't believe his hope was standing in front of him, his salvation, his…

"Mate."
