Chapter 4
"Mate."
Adira grinned, looking at the fine specimen in her front. Did he consider her a friend? she thought before stretching her hand forward.
"What's up mate," she grinned widely, "I'm Adira," When she noticed he wasn't taking her hand, she slumped it down. "I thought you wanted to be friends with me. That's why you called me…." Adira was interrupted by a supermodel.
"Who are you?" the woman raised her eyes, and Adira felt small to the tall woman. The woman's height was overpowering her 5'4 ft.
"All of you back off to your position," the woman ordered as everyone scrambled away, leaving her and the man.
"Baby, let's go," the lady touched him but instantly, he pushed her away as her touch burnt him.
"Brady, meet me in my office," the man said and dashed away.
What the fuck happened.
Lucian couldn't use a minute again there, and he was so into the conversation with his Lycan when he felt Greta's touch and pushed her away. Her touch was uncomfortable before, but since he saw his mate, it was burning.
He looked at his mate and looked away before striding away from her. He couldn't let people know about his mate for now until he thought it through. He had many enemies and vampires on his tail, he couldn't let them know, but it was killing him.
Greta ran after his long stride, whining about why he pushed her, but he didn't respond. He wasn't there again, and his mind was on his beautiful mate.
"Who's the lady?" he asked, walking to his office as he hung his coat on the stand.
"Adira," Brady responded shakily, "She's the new receptionist, but she came…".
Lucian didn't wait before cutting him off, "send her up to be my assistant," he ordered.
"Sir," Brady's mouth was agape in shock. His boss never glanced at the human's second gaze, but what changed, "She's j-just a new intern…."
"Did I stutter?" Lucian raised his brow, daring him to continue.
"Yes alpha."
"Go."
Greta wheezed from where she was tendering to her wound, "How can you make an incompatible your assistant!" she screamed. "her cloth is hideous, how could you…."
"Know what you fucking utter!" he growled, putting his hand around her neck.
"Lucian, you are choking me," his eyes showed gold, and his Lycan was prominent. He could not stand the belittling of his mate.
The office door was opened and revealed to Alisha, his secretary, "Alpha, Adira is outside," she bowed.
He closed his eyes, reigning body from his Lycan as he released Greta. Greta scrambled off the floor, took his bag, and ran out before turning to his secretary, "Find her a cubicle outside and teach her what she is to learn," he pinched the bridge of his nose frustratedly. His Lycan kept pacing around, wanting to touch, and see his mate.
Adira still stood, waiting patiently for the stout man to tell her whether she was fired or on probation. Adira paraded the tiled floor, thinking of the man's eyes. She couldn't get it off her head. The man lit her body in the fire.
"Adira," she heard her name being called as she turned to see Brady coming out. "Congratulations, you've been promoted," he wrinkled his nose.
"Whhha-" she stammered dumbfoundedly.
"Floor 56."
It took her some time before she recovered from the surprise. She couldn't believe it. How was it possible she didn't have the certificate to get her to be here but….
She entered the elevator and pressed the button to floor 56; as the door wanted to close, it was stopped by a man. The man beamed at her, "Sorry dear, the boss can't know I'm late," he mumbled, wearing his shoe very well.
"It's okay," she returned the smile politely.
"What's your name, beautiful?" the man asked, taking her hand before kissing it.
"I'm Adira, and you?" she blushed a little.
"Oh sorry, your beauty makes me forget my manner," he faked gasping, "I'm Leo M'lady," he bowed.
"You are funny," Adira said.
"Is my lady already crushing on me?" he teased her, and the elevator dinged, opening the door.
"In your dream," she laughed, walking out.
After secretary Alisha took her to her cubicle, she quickly explained some papers to her before she left.
Adira looked around the office she was given. She sat on the chair and swirled it around before she checked the latest iPad and laptop that were left on her table. She bounced around, liking the office. It was to her taste.
Lucian stopped walking to the boardroom when he saw his mate laughing and touching things with delicacy. He smiled happily, liking the full smile on her face.
Our little miracle, Eros purred.
Yes, she's ours. Lucian agreed, walking to the board room.
"Sir," all the people stood, bowing their heads in respect to Lucian, and he nodded in acknowledgement.
"Alpha, the rate of missing students, are increasing," Leo started, placing his laptop on the table. "According to the statistics, it shows that female students around 17-20 are more taken than the male students."
"Those vampires!" Mr Brown scowled, looking at the gruesome picture of a dead female student found on the school campus today.
Leo zoomed out the image, showing the words that were written on the dead body 'Useless'.
"Those young adults that were changed last night were caught by our patrolmen, and we've kept them in the dungeon," Leo informed, showing the video on the screen.
"The killing spree of vampires is getting out of hand, and humans are dying!" Mr Todd mumbled. He was a human, and his face was pale looking at the body.
"We are looking for another technique to catch them. We are yet to find their hideout," Leo stated, smiling at the man.
"You continue reassuring us but no changes! humans are dying, and your dogs are not doing anything!" Mr Todd bellowed angrily.
The screeching sound of the seat could be heard, which stopped the background noise. Everyone gulped loudly, their breathing hitched, and nothing could be heard.
Lucian stared at the man hard, "had it been the tongue of yours has been removed, you won't have the gut to talk stupidly," before closing the door behind him with a loud bang.
