Two weeks had passed since Kyoko first met his mate, Arnold. But they hadn't met since then.
Having only his phone number, that was the sole means to keep them in contact. Arnold would call him every night and they would make small talk. He would ask Kyoko about everything he wanted to know, he was a sweet caring man and Kyoko had never been happier in his life.
For his mate to try dating him and stay in touch, he knew he shouldn't ask for more.
Despite that, he had his new worry; he knew nothing about Arnold, except for his name and the fact that he was his fated mate. It was not that Kyoko never professed his curiosity but Arnold always dodged the question.
X X
"Yo, Kyoko somebody's here to meet you."
Kyoko was as famous in his neighbourhood and most boys and girls would try to hit on him, maybe the cause was his petite figure and feminine facial features, he was always the centre of attraction even in a group of females.
He was like an unreachable fruit to them since Kyoko had always been loyal to his mate, even before they met.
He puckered up his lips sorting out the possibilities through his mind. Can't risk losing a customer either. A part of him hoped it was Arnold.
"What's his name?"
"He said nothing but just the cafe guy."
I don't know anyone, that comes to mind.
"Send them away."
He waved his hand in the air, motioning a shoo shoo, his co-worker and manager Seto snorted at his gesture.
"I didn't know, you could be this heartless, darling."
Kyoko shot his head up. How did he enter?
"Hey! Today is members only, I said you can't enter."
One of the guards came right after.
Seto who was watching the scene as it unfolds cleared his throat and looked towards Kyoko, throwing him questions with his gaze.
"Manager, can I take my break a little early today?"
Oh, so that's the situation.
"No. Just take a leave for today. We can manage."
He pushed Kyoko, nudging him. "Don't forget to update me later. You love birds." He whispered to Kyoko, making him blush.
"Wait for me to change,"
Said Kyoko and Arnold nodded.
While he was inside changing, Seto poked Arnold gesturing him to sit down.
"So you are his fated mate huh?"
Seto said with an arrogant tone, while Arnold looked unbothered while mouthing a 'yes'.
"Are you looking at those customers?"
Arnold turned back and looked at the place, the dim golden lights broke through the ceiling bulbs and the faint music sound was on play to lighten up the atmosphere, some of the customers were already drunk and laughing hard while some of them were busy flirting. There was nothing unusual about them, just what you would see in any typical bar.
"Most of them are here for Kyoko."
Seto slid a glass of cocktail in front of Arnold.
"I don't know what happened between you two but to make him pull a troubled expression just in two weeks, you sure are taking it easy."
What Seto said had some truth in them, it was for a moment but when Kyoko was still there, Arnold could feel the occasional side glances and thirst in those eyes of the customers. He clenched his fist and a low growl escaped his mouth.
"What are your intentions?"
He glared at Seto, who was causally passing the drinks to other customers.
"It's simple. I just want him to be happy, so treasure him more. There are enough candidates who want to pair with him."
What Arnold felt at the moment was beyond jealously, he simply wanted to wreck this place and pluck those eyes out, who looked at his darling hungrily. Barely being able to contain his surge of those emotions, he jerkily stood up and let out a growl. The pheromones he was emitting were at a dangerous level.
Most of them were already on their knees, panting.
"Kyoko!"
Seto barely managed to shout his name, making Arnold turn back. Upon falling his gaze on panting Kyoko who was barely able to stand with the support of the wall, he managed to calm down.
The tense atmosphere generally faded out.
"Darling!"
He rushed towards Kyoko but the latter raised his hand and motioned him to stop.
He slowly managed to compose himself and rushed out of the bar, Arnold followed him.
"Darling! Wait for me."
He pleaded but Kyoko only fastened his pace without turning his back. Both of them then walked in silence, Kyoko was walking five steps ahead of him while Arnold was following him with his head hung low. After a few minutes of walk, Kyoko let out a sigh, earning Arnold's attention.
"Darling."
He called out softly while Kyoko hmmed in response.
"I am sorry."
"Sorry for what?"
"Everything. For coming to your workplace unannounced and creating a ruckus."
"Why did you come today?"
Kyoko finally turned back, meeting his hazel eyes, he realised Arnold looked more of a wet puppy at the moment.
"Because you were upset with me."
"What made you think that?"
"Because you weren't.... as cheery as we first spoke on the phone."
Arnold's answer shocked him. He never intended to let him know that he was upset.
They weren't close enough for that, at least according to Kyoko. He didn't want Arnold to grow tired of him. So it only meant Arnold had been very attentive of him, it made a part of him jittery but it didn't mean his trouble vanished out in thin air.
"Why won't you tell me anything about you? If we don't communicate, I won't know your feelings and troubles."
Arnold leaned forward their faces inches away from each other.
"Shouldn't that be my question?"
A look of confusion spread Arnold's face and Kyoko took a deep breath.
"You never tell me about yourself. Whenever I ask you something about your job or where you live, you always ignore them and now you expect me to tell you everything? The irony isn't it.?"
Kyoko. Stop, he must've his reasons.
"I... I didn't mean to-
Don't say anymore, he is your mate. The one you had been waiting for.
Despite, his internal pleading, he couldn't stop himself from spiting those poisonous words.
"Of course, you would say that. You might say even say you didn't mean to lead me on and you have someone else. If this goes on, I am afraid we might not be able to last long."
No! I didn't mean to.
Something shattered inside Arnold, maybe it was his patience or his ego as an alpha, he couldn't tell but it shattered without any noise nor a warning. He pulled Kyoko with him and took him to one of the alleys.
Entrapping him between his arms, he slammed his hands into the wall and even in this situation Kyoko mind wandered about one thing.
The infamous Kabedon.
"Have someone else? Won't last long? If I intended to let you go, I would've never stayed in this city, prolonging my visit. If I didn't want to be with you, not even God could've stopped me from leaving."
He roared but not enough to scare Kyoko, he wouldn't dare to.
"Then why?"
Kyoko looked down while fidgeting with his fingers.
Cute.
Arnold thought.
A faint dim light caught Kyoko's attention and he shifted his gaze towards the source, Arnold typed something in his phone and turned the screen towards him.
The screen had, the 1000+ search results displayed on it under the name; Arnold Creed. His eyes scanned the first few headlines; youngest business magnate, most successful billionaire, Creed hotel lines.
There were a lot more but Arnold clicked the power button, gaining an annoying no from Kyoko.
"Darling, I apologise for being rough with you a moment ago. But now you know the reason so please forgive me."
"You... just cause of this? It isn't even a big deal."
Arnold chuckled, angry Kyoko was cute but perplexed Kyoko was cute too, for him.
He extended his hand and grabbed Kyoko's, kissing its back.
"Remember when we first met? You were concerned about gender roles and if I said that I was a pretty successful person, you would've run away from me."
Pretty successful? Being a billionaire is just pretty not much?
Kyoko's mind wandered.
"So I couldn't risk it."
Sighing at Arnold's stupid woes, Kyoko kissed his cheeks and gave him a cheeky smile. "I wouldn't run away so easily."
"Who said you can run away?"
Arnold hazel eyes shined through the little gleam of the moonlight, skimming from above, a warm gush filled Kyoko's chest and his porcelain white cheeks turned all shades of red.
Flustered he pushed Arnold away and turned around walking at a safe distance as the latter followed him.
"Yo-you need to stop doing that!"
"Doing what?"
"You know what?" Kyoko whined from Arnold's obvious teasing.
"I won't know unless you tell me."
Arnold feigned oblivion to Kyoko's protest, and eventually caught up to flustered Kyoko and walked side by side.
