Chapter 31 - Dante's Hunting Session Part 4

"200 Biomass? Where do I get that much biomass?"

Dante couldn't help but questioned himself while squinting his eyebrows. Getting 200 biomass would be hard and expensive, but what he wanted Roshan to evolve was a serpentine dragon.

Obviously, the price should reflect that.

So in itself, despite being incredibly expensive. He wasn't that bothered by the price, and after the initial shock disappeared. It was time for him to make a plan to turn his dream of getting a dragon into reality.

"To gain 200 biomass, it looks like I'll have to continue the hunting session."

Dante muttered while staring at the distant darkness of the forest. He turned his gaze to Roshan, who idly stood beside him, waiting for new orders.

He then sighed to himself and said. "We'll continue moving forward along with the given route. It should lead us to the northwest part of the dark forest. I hope there would be a lot of Gigantis Kryftis there."

"Though, I highly doubted that as others might have hunted them."

He kept thinking about hunting the monsters, never noticing how much he had changed. The fearful one from before practically faded and got replaced by a hunter who wants to keep hunting the monsters.

Of course, this wasn't that much of a problem. But such a change had gone unnoticed by the self-proclaim self-aware man called Dante. Obviously, an immediate change would be strange for those who previously knew him.

But, was there anyone that clearly knew him before the marathon test? Most of the conversations he went through were nothing more than the introduction of other people who were interested in his identity.

Other than that, the conversation never went deeper than the introduction.

"Let's go, Roshan."

Dante ordered and began walking in the northwest direction as the route suggested. Roshan slightly nodded with its two eyeballs and the two began treading through the darkness once again.

While walking through the dark forest enveloped by the onyx pitch-black, he noticed the effects of the attribute increase. He felt a bit better than before, and to be honest, this was only the average level of the attribute.

He couldn't help but think about ideas such as putting all experience within speed or strength. Would he be incredibly fast? Extremely strong? Or highly durable with endurance?

Naturally, Dante had to take care of the urge to spend his experience. Besides, of the 30 experiences he intended to spend, there was surprisingly a lot of them left. Meaning that Dante could spend some on extra attributes.

But as his consciousness told him to not spend atrociously of highly valued resources. He stopped himself from uttering the words that might increase his attributes at the cost of his experience.

"It's becoming hard to control myself."

"And to change for one day would be weird."

"The Imperium military might dissect my body for secrets unknown to them. After all, who wouldn't want their soldiers to be fit at an immediate time?"

Dante continued mumbling to himself before noticing something strange in the surroundings. He looked at Roshan who nodded without any delay. It seems that a hostile enemy was about to appear, so he prepared his rifle as his eyes sharpened.

His cold gaze surveyed the surroundings before giving an order to Roshan.

"Take care of the bastard."

"If it's to strong, then lure the hostile to me."

Hearing Dante's cold orders, Roshan nodded and charged into the darkness that shrouded them. It didn't take a while for screeches to echo as Dante furrowed his eyebrows and followed the trail of Roshan.

Piercing through the thick bushes surrounding the gigantic trees basked in darkness, he arrived at the screech's origin. The location where Roshan stood idly while being surrounded by dozens of corpses laying on the ground, covered in a puddle of blood.

There were tons of Gigantis Kryftis, coldly resting on the muddled ground.

Dante would have considered it a treasure area, but only a cold expression was left on his face. His seriousness never left even in the face of what he may consider as treasures.

The reason for this was somewhat simple.

Where did such corpses come from? How did it come to this? Who had done such a thing? Was it a recruit like him? Or was it something different, a monster?

These were the questions plaguing his mind, and he was trying his best to find an answer.

Dante left the thick bushes and into the open where the corpses resided. The area was covered with the thick smell of blood, signifying that a massacre happened nearly in an instant. There was no damage in the surroundings, so what happened here?

How could there be a battle without any leftovers other than the corpses of the ones who fought within it? Shouldn't there be scratch marks on the ground, trees, and broken branches?

He knew that he was expecting too much, and obviously, the world wouldn't explain the circumstances of the surroundings to him. The only thing he could do was arrive at a conclusion, instead of asking more questions.

Upon this thought process, Dante sighed to himself and muttered.

"A strong monster, huh?"

"I thought only the Gigantis Kryftis dwelled within this forest. It appears that I was heavily wrong of that assumption."

He underestimated the marathon test. Obviously, it wouldn't be that easy, and having one type of monster would be too easy for the recruits to go through.

Once again, Dante didn't notice that he had expectations different from everyone. It was a somewhat high expectation of the world around him. Clearly, a strong monster that dominates the dark forest was never included among the challenges of the marathon test.

"Anyhow, I should take these corpses."

Dante uttered while standing before them. It didn't take that much time for a notification to emerge before his eyes. It was different than before, since instead of two options. It was only one option.

Instead of numerous reports, it was all compiled into one since he wasn't the one that killed them. He was doing nothing more but picking the corpses he manage to run into. At any rate, Dante looked at the report and nodded to himself.

"Devour all of them."

With the second notification report, a silver light shone radiantly throughout the corpses surrounding Dante and Roshan. They illuminated the dark forest with the same familiar light as before. And a couple of seconds later, they faded just like the light before them.

Dante closed his eyelids while another notification materialized at the front of his perception. He wasn't bothered by the immediate notifications anymore, since he understood that they wouldn't appear during a battle.

He opened his eyelids after noticing the notification report and furrowed his eyebrows upon seeing it. He only gained 15 experience from the corpses before him. It was many times smaller than the yield he got from a smaller number and he was a bit upset about it.

"I should have expected this. I won't gain that much experience since I wasn't the one that killed them,"

Dante shook his head as he was disappointed though this reaction of his stopped when dozens of following sounds echoed.

*BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!*

*BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!* *BANG!*

It was gunfire.
