Chapter 12 - Fairies’ Chow

After seeing what happened to their fellow, the monkeys became hysterical, shrieking loudly as they searched frantically for the unseen enemy. Stoneson had already changed direction and hid somewhere else, he soon found another opportunity and attacked another three winged monkeys, they had turned to the direction from which he attacked earlier, unbeknownst to them though was the fact that he was now where they had turned their blind spot to...

So in quick succession, "whack! Whack! Whack!" Three more objets fell from the sky, into the wolf's embrace! "Awoooooooo!" It howled in pure elation as it sent two lightning bolts straight at two of the falling monkeys to paralyze them while it dealt with the first one. Paranoia filled the remaining airborne winged monkeys and they flew away.

Stoneson displayed a devilish smile as he lunged into the battlefield, his staff on his shoulder. He w alked over to one monkey on the floor, squealing in pain. He then raised his staff and smacked it hard on the head, pulverizing its head instantly, it twitched for a while before laying motionless on the floor.

Before he could walk over to the other one lying on the floor, there was another loud shriek behind him, "welcome." He said to the extra large monkey. The ones that fled had come back with their master or whatever.

This one for one reason or the other had no wing or so it seemed. It had bloodshot eyes and was emitting a gray smoke through the pores in its skin! It had fangs extending from its jaw straight down past its as its jaw! Three inch long gleaming claws graced its forelimbs as it approached.

It was enraged as it saw how its subjects had been murdered in cold blood. The wolf was still feasting on the remains of the deceased monkeys. Stoneson cursed under his breath as he thought the wolf would cooperate with him.

There was no time to wallow in thought as the winged monkey king was almost upon him! It swung its massive claws toward his head and he ducked with ease, however he quickly realized that something was wrong so he quickly retreated, that was when it hit him, real hard!

Had it not been for his instincts, who knew what would have become of him? It was now clear that the claw that the winged monkey king swung toward him was not its main attack, that was just to distract him and make the deadly arrowhead tail embed itself in his chest. Anyway just retreating wasn't enough to make him dodge the attack as it pursued him.

It was just like a missile unlike a normal projectile, this one seemed to have a special lock-on system as it could change directions with ease due to how flexible the tail was, in the end Stoneson had to face it so he reached out his left hand to try and grab it. It somehow managed to turn somewhat illusory as the gray puff of smoke was released from the animal again, passing clean through his hand is if he wan non-existent!

He sidestepped at the last critical moment when it solidified again right before his face, nicking him on the cheek. The prospect of losing his blood filled Stoneson with so much hate toward the creature that his eyes turned blue instantly and the azure glow surrounded him. His skin crackled with lightning as he punched at the incoming claw. "Pang!" The Sharp claws broke like a dried up twig, making the shadow winged monkey king squeal in pain.

It retreated and peered at Stoneson, something in its subconscious told it to run for its life but seeing its subjects, headless bodies on the floor and the little annoying thing still munching jubilantly in them was enough for it to steel its resolve to kill the duo.

It bared its fangs at Stoneson and charged at him again. Stoneson stood as lofty as a mountain, unmoving. He took leisurely strides towards the incoming creature and hurled his fist at it. "Booooom!" The beast slammed hard into a tree and gave an ear piercing shriek, someway somehow, just looking at the figure approaching it, the shadow monkey king lost all the animosity it held toward him, the feeling of loathe was replaced by absolute fear. It tried running away and was pulled back by the tail.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!" It was a shocking sight to see the shadow monkey king being humiliated like that, it was just being held by its pointy tail and being slammed on the floor like a rag doll! It tried effortlessly to escape the boy's grasp but it couldn't, the grip was firm and incredibly sturdy. It became hopeless and waited for its inevitable death.

Stoneson kept bombarding it with punch after punch till it stopped moving. Before he could relax though, he noticed its tail twitch a little and with lightning speed, he punched its head with all his might creating a crater into which the head sunk into!

He then fell flat on his butt, gasping for air. It took too much energy to enter bloodthirsty mode. His eyes reverted to their normal black color as he hungrily gasped for air. He felt so weak that he couldn't even lift a finger!

What now? He asked himself loudly and as if in answering his question, the shadow monkey king's body twitched. Then it stood slowly back up, its head was a practical mess but, it still stood quite loftily considering its rage towards this little thing.

Instead of its normal high pitched shriek when it opened its mouth, it was "roar!" this time! It then suddenly expanded, its muscles bulging in an over exaggerated manner. Stoneson gulped. The gray mist that surrounded its being also turned crimson. "Oh great! You want to show me your bloodthirsty mode? Well this isn't a good time." He knew really well what would happen if he decided to engage this beast. He tried to talk his way out of it despite being doubtful if this beast could understand.

His answer came right after as the beast dashed toward him with blistering speed, turning illusory while it did so. Stoneson, knowing how dire the situation was, slowly stood up as he tried to enter bloodthirsty mode again, he felt a throbbing pain in his head immediately he tried to do so and instantly knew he was doomed.

He was only able to hurt it in the first place because of the bloodthirsty mode he entered, so if he couldn't re enter that mode now, he was well and truly done for. He knew he couldn't back down though, he made that decision within a split second and curled his fingers into a fist.

With a smirk as he thought about something, he dragged his feet forward, if the beast entered shadow mode and he couldn't lay a finger on it, then it means the beast couldn't hurt him either! At least that was what he hoped to be the case but was soon revealed to be naive, way too naive at that, he felt a sharp pain on his chest and didn't even realize he was in the air, shooting backward like a cannonball until he slammed into a tree, breaking it and shooting toward the next in line, breaking it as well before crash landing to the ground. "Blergh!" He coughed up blood and looked at the three deep gashes on his chest.

He saw that the shadow monkey was headed toward him again but no matter how hard he willed his body to roll out of the way, he just couldn't. He readied himself to get out of the Virtual Platform before he was killed but the something blocked his view.

Crackling crazily with insane amounts of electricity, the snow thunder wolf stood protectively in front of him, sending bolts after bolt of lightning toward the enemy, because of its bloodthirsty mode, the beast was emotionless, crazed by only the desire to kill and so felt no direct pain, that doesn't mean the numbness wouldn't affect it. It felt a little sluggish as it still charged towards the protector and protected duo, albeit doubtlessly far slower.

Lady Luck seemed to have a crush on the duo though, as the time limit for the beast's bloodthirsty mode seemed to elapse and it fell heavily, finding it difficult to move. Stoneson smirked watching this as he closed his eyes to rest and recover a little bit of energy, knowing that it was easy peasy lemon squeezy for the little wolf to annihilate it.

He didn't know when he fell asleep, but it was night time when he opened his eyes, he noticed that he was moving against his will, as the scenery around him was fleeting. Rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand, he realized that he was sitting atop the thunder wolf as it run like the wind in a specific direction. "Hey where are you taking me?" He asked albeit not expecting an answer.

The Snow wolf stopped and let him get down, then it dropped a few herbs that it had been holding in its maw at his feet, then stepped back and simply stared at him. They locked gazes for a few moments and the wolf growled at him. It walked forward a bit and pushed the herbs further toward him, stepped back and growled again.

He still hurt quite a bit, the three claw marks was still there although they had somehow stopped bleeding. The pain in his head was throbbing, still. He now seemed to get what the wolf was trying to convey to him. He picked up the herbs and realized that it felt really hot to touch, although not hot enough to cause burning.

After picking it up, he lifted it to his lips to see if the wolf would react but it just stared at him without moving. He looked at the wolf with a questioning brow as he slowly opened his mouth, literally asking the wolf if he could eat it, an action to which the wolf somehow vigorously nodded.

It surprised him quite a bit but he focused. "It didn't Barbour any ill intentions did it? Screw that I'll just eat it!" And so he did. Instantly though, his face changed, his chest felt so searing hot at once as he chewed the herb but he gnashed his teeth and continued to chew it anyway. A moment later, he felt normal again after the mashed herbs fell into his stomach.

The pain seemed to have vanished instantly after that and he didn't understand why that is, slowly he ran his left hand across his chest to check on the wound and it was...gone!
