Chapter 7 - chapter seven

• Social sexuality is an energy that permeates all creatures and indeed, all of creation, and direct/ pull each creature out of itself towards others.

• It is the energy of relationships, the generative power that enables us to share the gift of authentic intimacy.

• It includes our way of being in the world as male and female and the attitudes and characteristics, culturally defined as masculine and feminine that we acquire over time.

• It's all of the energies that make the male and female person capable of affection bonds and procreative activities.

• Social sexuality also involves our affectional orientation towards people of the opposite and the same sex and our attitude towards our body and those of others.

• Sexuality is shape by biological, social, and psychological influence and evolve throughout life.

Biological perspective – Driven by hormones

Cognitive perspective – the brain is a key player ( augmenting or downplaying a sexual drive, it organize social sexual behavior) by interpretation – as positive or negative, sexual response can be enhanced or diminished.

• Sociological perspective – sexual behavior and the meaning attached to it arise from social or cultural context.
