Chapter 12 - Chapter 11: The world of Mutation and lectures (Part 2)

"As for the answer to your second question, I would first like everyone to stop writing and concentrate completely on the display."

She then started tinkering with her tablet until a new screen came out on the display.

The display had some figures along with the methods to advance the bloodline mutation. Lucia took out a laser pointer and pointed on one the figure, under which compatibility was written. It was divided into some ranges which Lucia was going to explain.

"Let's start with the description. So the first process, as everyone knows is to find out the compatibility percentage. The more compatibility percentage with any element you have, the better it is to integrate with a bloodline consisting that element."

Zen pondered on those words, 'Well that was obvious. But there is a trade off here. Let's say you have 70% compatibility with lightening and 60% with fire. It is far more practical to go with fire as that 10% more compatibility isn't worth the money and time that will be spent on a good lightening bloodline.'

She adjusted the pointer and took it to a different figure.

"Someone with multiple compatibility can integrate with multiple elements. But as a general case, it is advised to not integrate with more than 2 elements. Rather, it is more beneficial to learn to control the element you already have as you can get better abilities as you progress with a element. Let me explain this point in detail."

"Let's start with zero. Assume you have good compatibility with fire and wind elements and you decided on fire as your element. Now as soon as you decide it, you will have to look for a suitable bloodline. As of now, we have 8 levels of bloodlines for each element, having a higher and lower grade within each level. These levels are not just decided by the power but also the abilities they might give. When you get a bloodline, you will start with transfusing the bloodline with your body."

"Is the process really as painful as they say it is?" A student asked with some inhibitions.

"Trust me. It is way more painful than anyone ever says. One point to understand here is that higher the compatibility, less painful the mutation process is. Now, for every major ring, you have to fuse with 2 bloodlines of same element. Continuing with the above example, when you decided on fire and transfused, you will become 1st outer ring and gain 1 ability. After this, you will have to train that ability to the fullest. When you train that ability, the elemental energy inside you will increase gradually. When it reaches a specific amount, you will breakthrough to the second ring and will unlock a new ability. Please remember that this amount is not predetermined and it is limited by your own potential but reaching breaking through will increase your overall body status. From physical abilities to mental abilities, everything will be increased."

At this point Anna raised her hand and asked, "Does that mean even if you breakthrough, it is not equivalent to practicing the ability to its fullest?"

Lucia nodded at this, "Exactly! Think of it as jar. Everyone has different potential which can be signified as the size of jar. The more you increase the elemental energy, the more jar is filled with stones. But you cannot breakthrough until is filled completely. But even if the jar is filled with stones, there is always space for more in between the stones."

"What are elemental potions then?" A girl asked after raising her hand.

"I was coming to that. Elemental potions are yet another way of increasing elemental energy to fasten breakthrough. Let's get back to the explanation. Now when you breakthrough, you obtain another ability contained in that bloodline. Every bloodline which is second level or higher have more than 5 abilities. And you obtain one of these randomly. After you reach the 4th minor ring, you will have to look for a new bloodline, preferably better than the previous one, of the same element. So in the case of above example, you will choose another fire element bloodline."

Lucia suddenly remembered something, then she put on a video on the display. "This video can help you memorize this."

"Why didn't you put this on before?"

"... I forgot, I guess? Anyways, as soon as you fuse with a new bloodline, you will loose either 2 or 3 of the 4 previously acquired abilities. Higher the level of bloodline used, more chances of retaining 2 abilities. This process is repeated for next 5 minor rings, where you again obtain one ability for every breakthrough. Again, for the inner ring, you have to choose a new bloodline. Here you can choose either fire or go with a new bloodline of wind element and depending on the grade of previous bloodline, you will loose 3 to 4 previously acquired... so basically, every time you advance a major ring, you will be left with 1 to 3 of the abilities you acquired in the previous ring."

"...This is overload to my head. I can't take it anymore. I want to fight, please let us go outside. I had enough of this" James finally lost it. This whole process was very theoretical for a muscle head like him.

"...Pfft Hahaha" The whole class started laughing gradually. Most of the students shared this sentiment.

"Sigh." Lucia sighed, "Let's stop here now. We will continue our discussion in the next class... Mr. Pearson and Mr. Ashford, I heard that your group is going to have a match. You guys can fight in the gym area where your next class on martial arts will take place. All of you can leave, as your class teacher, I will also assist you with your martial arts practice along with the trainer assigned."

"Eh? You are our class teacher?" A student asked in confusion.

"Huh? Didn't I tell you?" Lucia was confused. She was sure that she said it as soon as she entered the class.

"...Noo" Isn't this teacher very irresponsible to manage a class? Everyone thought while looking at her with dead eyes.

'Well, I am sure the school will not be boring at all.' Zen thought while looking at the Pearson brat who challenged him and Anna before.

Pearson brat really didn't know why but he felt a shiver down his spine.
