Azec was in love with her unknown of the fact that she already gave her heart to the prince. Azek also has similar power to hers. Maxwell is obsessive and always treated Azek as an eyesore. He restricted Kate from interacting with Azek.

In the end, A war broke out between devils and humans. They captured Kate, Instead of Maxwell who couldn't do anything to save her, Azek used his mana to save her and the kingdom. My poor Azek was cursed by Gods and put him into eternal sleep whereas Kate and Maxwell lived happily ever after.
