"You look angry honey" Alex heard her mother say.
She blinked, "No... am... am...." she breathed moving back.
She turned running away.
"Alex... Alex..." she heard Nathan call but didn't turn back.
"I don't think it was the right time, honey," George said to Rosa.
"But I thought us all being here was the perfect time" Rosa trembled.
"Don't worry Mommy Rosa, she's just surprised" said Cynthia.
"Give her time to take it in," her uncles said.
"She has been lost in her world to notice the change happening around her. She must be shocked to hear such developments in the lives of people around her" her grandmother said.
"You cold fool go talk to her," Mr Levi said to Nathan.
He nodded and walked away.
Rosa dropped back to the seat looking at George, "I thought it would make her happy".
"It did, she's just a little shocked" George held her.
...
"Hi, you okay" Alex heard Nathan say.
She nodded, "Mmm, am fine".
"You surprised," he said.
She breathed, looking up at the sky.
"Am not sure..... I mean I knew eventually it might turn serious when we found out they were dating. But after we moved here, I never saw her call, text or meet Dad. So I thought it was my fault since we didn't talk too" she said.
"So isn't this good?" he asked.
She smiled, "It is, I always wanted Mom to find happiness again since Dad died. And when she started dating your Dad, she looked so happy I was glad.... but...." she broke off.
"But, what Love?" Nathan got closer.
"She's engaged and I seemed to be the only person who knew nothing about it....we always shared everything but she hid that from me"
"She didn't hide it, you seemed so lost somewhere, so she said she would wait until you were yourself again to tell you," he said.
Alex glanced at him, "You knew?"
He nodded.
"Then why did you act surprised when they announced their engagement?" she asked.
"Cause Dad talked about it but didn't tell me when he was going to ask her....he chuckled... And I didn't think momma Rosa would agree to marry such a man like Dad".
Alex laughed, "Dad is good, don't talk bad about him".
"If you say so. I just hope he continues to love her the way he does now" he said.
"Should we go back inside?" she said.
He got up and held her hand moving back inside.
....
"Momma" she called. Rosa who had sullen looked up to meet her daughter.
"Sweetie" she smiled. Alex got down into the seat, holding her hand.
"Am sorry about my reaction earlier. I know it was my fault." she apologized.
"Don't be honey, I guess I took too long to tell you. And I know I hurt you when I didn't tell you earlier" her mother said.
"Am sorry for having been absent-minded about your life. I want what's best for you & I know Dad will treat you the best" She hugged her.
The other smiled.
"Well if our pretty niece says it's okay now, then let's celebrate" one of her uncles said.
They all held up their tea cups and smiled, "To the couple that won the best announcement of today, congratulations to the now engaged couple, Momma Rosa and George" her grandfather let out.
They cheered and made a toast to them.
