Unknown Continent, Year 1000
In a faraway land of the east, there were three gods who lived peacefully.
"Hmm?" Apollo, who sensed a transparent teleport, immediately went and greet the person who came. "Welcome home, Milady."
"Again with the 'milady'."
"Well, you are the Goddess of Wisdom." He said as he kissed the back of her hand. "You're one of the gods who overseer the higher realm. How else should I call you if not that?"
Minerva, the Goddess of Wisdom, can only shake her head and sigh. "Enough. Raise your head, Apollo. You and I are both supreme beings. Please, drop the formality."
Before Apollo could even rebuke, Minerva walked past him. "Where's Mars?"
"Your little brother is playing outside, milady."
"Playing?"
"... Yes, playing," Apollo said as he avoided Minerva's stares. "To a human."
" You're home, sister!" Minerva's attention went to Mars who welcome her with a hug.
"Where have you been?"
"Oh, you know… Just strolling around the human world and then bumped into this man and ended up making a pledge to protect his family and—"
"You WHAT?!"
"I strolled in the human world?"
"No, not that the other one."
"I pledged myself—"
"YOU IDIOT!" Minerva punched her brother's cheeks out of frustration. A god pledging himself to a person is not something new, but it's not as simple as that.
"Sis-Sister! It hurts! It hurts!" Mars couldn't help but avoid his sister's punches. He knew why she was like that but he still didn't expect her to continuously punch him until he lost consciousness.
"PLEDGE?! DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS?! IT MEANS BEING REINCARNATED TO THAT FAMILY AS THEIR GOD, YOU IDIOT!"
"Milady," Apollo called as he handed a cup of tea to Minerva the moment she stopped punching Mars. "How about a cup of tea? It'll help you relax."
"Thank you, Apollo. But let me remind you once again, you are a god, you're also older than me so stop being so formal. And stop doing this, you're not a servant." She said as she took a sip from the cup of tea.
"But I want to serve you. After all, I'm just a god of music and poetry, yet you still accepted me and see me as your equal." Apollo smiled.
He really does want to serve them. Not because he wants to gain something for them, oh no. He already gained something he always longed for. For a lowly god like him, to serve Minerva and Mars was more than enough. They are his light.
"Apollo, what I mean is, we did not let you stay here to be a servant. The moment you stepped into this place you are already part of this family. You are our older brother. And I'm not the only one who thinks that way." Minerva eyed her brother who was currently unconscious on the floor.
'But is it really alright?' Apollo thought. 'Family…'
"Oh, right!" Apollo's thoughts were interrupted when Minerva was getting ready to leave. "Let's check on the person that my brother had pledged to."
"Yes," Apollo replied. "... Milady."
Minerva, who didn't hear this, whispered in the air. Casting herself and Apollo a flying ability and invisibility.
"Hmm," Minerva pondered as they followed the man whom she felt Mars powers the most. "This human is strange."
The man in question is wearing clothes filled with dirt, is walking barefooted, and only has a staff and a little bag.
'Is he a beggar?' Minerva thought. As she and Apollo silently followed the man, the village the man was heading to was burning. When they noticed this, the man immediately ran towards the village and helped put out the fire. He even gave his food and remaining money to the villagers who were greatly affected.
"I see," a smile was plastered on her face. She was greatly pleased when she realized that her brother chose a good person.
"You like him don't you?"
"Mars!" Minerva gasped, flinching to the side when Mars suddenly popped out of nowhere.
"Good morning, Sir." Apollo jokingly said, receiving a glare from Mars. However, this light atmosphere was interrupted when they felt a demonic presence.
"Milady, Sir, seems like the human is protecting a woman and a child and is being surrounded by demons."
Mars immediately dashed toward the demons. "You dare touch my human?! INFERNO!" he cast which made the demons burn, not giving them enough time to react. However, one demon was able to escape.
Underworld
The demon who was able to escape kept on running until he reached one of the demon embodiments of sins. He was about to enter when the lower demons guarding the door blocked him.
"LET ME IN! I HAVE TO REPORT SOMETHING IMPORTANT!" feeling the urgency, the guards hesitantly opened the door.
"If it's not something important, you're dead." One of them whispered to the demon.
"What is a lower demon doing in my place?" The demon was greeted by a cold voice that echoed in the room, sending shivers down his spine.
The room was poorly lit. It was only enough to light up the corners of the room but never enough for the demon to see the owner sitting across the room. Its red eye stared right into his soul, ready to devour him if he made a small mistake.
"My—" The demon kneeled as he swallowed the dry lump in his throat. "... Apologies, my liege. But I'll go straight to the point. We have been discovered by gods."
The demon sin was surprised by the news yet he smiled. "Gods, you say?" Slowly he walked to the demon, unveiling the tanned red-haired demon. "Tell me, who were they?"
The demon did not dare look his liege in the eye. He remained looking at the floor whilst ironically praying for his life.
"It's— it's the god of music, god of war…" He clasped his trembling hands as he shut his eyes. "... and the goddess of wisdom, Minerva."
"Minerva? HAHAHAHAHAHA!" He laughed. His liege laughed. The demon thought he'd be safe but then his liege suddenly sighed. He couldn't help but look up and there he saw his liege's annoyed face. "Do you know what that means?"
In a split second, the demon's face was on the floor, his head being pressed down by his liege's foot. "That means that they may use it as a declaration of WAR, YOU IDIOT!"
"ARGH!" The demon groaned in agony as his liege kicked him.
"YOU DUMBASS LOWLY BORN MAGGOT!" The liege sighed, wiping his face dryly out of frustration. But then a smile suddenly appeared on his face, revealing his sharp teeth. The demon saw this and he knew he was done for.
"Hmm, yes… You must repay for your sin and praise the king as I eat you."
"No… No, no, no! Please! Please, my liege! I beseech you! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!"
As if mourning for the death of the demon, the lights flickered in the room until it eventually shut off. Leaving the room with nothing but darkness.
