DYLAN'S POV
"What did you say?" Pete's voice echoed above the sound of the water which was hitting the shower floors.
"Raelynn." Logan repeated confidently
"My Raelynn?", Pete could not believe it.
"Yes! Raelynn paid me to do this!" Logan seemed sure of what he was saying.
It must have been due to his shock that Pete slowly let go of Logan, and before we knew it, Logan ran for his life out of the room.
"The doors the doors! You have to lock all doors!" I screamed.
"I'm on it!" Pete ran after Logan. Instinctively I also followed, but did not go all the way to the hallway. I was dripping wet anyway.
"Anisha, did Raelynn bring you here?" I asked as I walked around in circles, anger and confusion clouding my vision.
"Don't leave me, Dylan", was her answer.
Seeing no hope in talking to Anisha, I was about to run out when my phone rang. It was Joey.
"de Milo! I'm now at Clear Opal! Where do I bring the antidote?"
"Sixth floor! Come to sixth floor now!" I instructed him.
"The security is giving me a tough time." He spoke in an irritated voice.
"Hand over the phone to them!" As soon as the phone was handed over, I screamed in anger, "Let Joey come in now!! If you delay him one second longer, you will regret this!"
"Yes sir! I am terribly sorry", a scared male voice came through.
In a few seconds the elevator chime was heard, and I heard footsteps.
"Joey! Third door on your left!" I called; and in came Joey.
"Please please attend to her. She has been drugged.", I made as if I was about to leave the room but then I retreated.
My mind told me that if ever there was a time Anisha needed me, it was then. I chose to go back and swiftly covered her with a towel and helped her to step out of the cold shower.
We had to go into the opposite room, for the suite we were in was a total mess with blood stains and broken glass everywhere.
As soon as we got in the room, my phone rang again. "Pete!"
"Dylan, that man escaped!! He used the fire escape route!" Pete was breathless.
"Didn't the guards get hold of him?" I was puzzled.
With the number of security guards around Clear Opal Manor, it was impossible that a man could run and escape from all of them!
"You won't believe this, de Milo! There is not a single security guard on the western exit!" Pete explained.
"What! How?" I blinked several times as I tried to take in what I had just heard.
All my life, I had always known that the Clear Opal Manor was always surrounded by security guards every single time of the day, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week, all year round! What was that which I was hearing, that there was not a single security guard at the Western exit?
I was lost in thought when I heard footsteps. It was Pete. I called out to him to come in the opposite room, and he entered with:
"The biggest problem we had was that all the doors were unlocked. If only I had not chased after Logan but instead gone to the central locking system!"
"Don't worry, Pete. You did your best. We will get him!" I assured my friend.
"Hey Joey," Pete and Joey greeted each other.
"What is shocking is, Logan seems to have a lot of information about this mansion. He knows the fire escape route? I mean, who knows that? Who even uses that?" I frowned.
"And the fact that there were no security guards…it says a lot!" Pete said. "Wait de Milo; I'm going to pull the CCTV footage now". With that, Pete ran out.
After administering the medicine, Joey wished us well and he excused himself. He was one of my good friends who unfortunately had missed the dinner because he was working. I had informed him that I would make it up for him; him and the other friends who also missed.
"Dylan please…" Anisha continued to hold on to me.
Anyone would have seen from her actions that she was acting out of the effect of something. No woman in her right senses would have begged a man for intimacy in the way that Anisha did. Thinking that this was exactly how she would have acted towards Logan, I felt great anger building up from within me, feeling like a real physical thing that I could touch. She kept pulling me and kissed my arms, my chest and my neck. I knew that the antidote was going to start working soon, so I patiently held her.
Pete ran in and, sending the door flying, he gasped for air and said, "You won't believe this! The CCTV is switched off. And what's worse; all the events of tonight are nowhere to be found!" he said.
"Who did this? Who is behind all this?"
"I'm also at a loss," Pete shook his head. "And to think Logan implicated Raelynn. I can't put my finger on anything. How on earth is Raelynn involved in all these illegal activities?"
"Impossible," I also shook my head.
My mind went racing in all directions, searching for any and all possibilities. Who could have been behind this? Each time my mind went in the direction of my mother, I quickly brought it back and told myself that there was no way my own mother would have planned for a girl to be raped. She had her moments, yes; but she was not that bad. I believed that she only acted bad when she was trying to protect her children; and surely every mother does that?
My mother? My own mother? Was she capable of doing such? She never liked Anisha; that was an open secret, but would she have gone that far? No ways!
And as for Logan saying Raelynn was a part of it…I refused to believe that. Did Raelynn and Logan even know each other? My mind told me that, maybe a common enemy; an enemy who disliked both myself and Pete, was behind this. Therefore by having Anisha drugged and raped ,and dragging in the name of Raelynn, the person was trying to cause havoc between us?
The theory in my head sounded feasible enough, until I came to the 'who' part? Who could that person be?
Why; I did not know of any enemies around me. Of course it was impractical for me to believe that everyone loved Pete and I; but then I failed to come up with someone who hated me to the point of wanting to destroy me that much.
Or was it someone who hated Anisha? Hmm? Israel? Was Israel already out of the hospital? As far as I knew, the man was still in a comma and fighting for his life in the hospital. Unless if he had his men doing his work for him, maybe it was him! Him and Anisha were previously housemates! Maybe they had an issue? But all the same, it all did not add up? Did Israel have enough connections to tell him of Anisha's whereabouts; and to gain entry into the Clear Opal Manor too?
My thoughts were suddenly disrupted when Anisha spoke:
"C…c…ca….!" she whispered.
"Sorry? What did you say?" I had to lean in to hear clearly what she was saying.
"Camera. Camera." She repeated in a tired voice.
"Pete, she is saying camera." I looked up at Pete.
"Camera," Pete repeated the word.
"I think there's a camera in that suite. Someone was recording it. Please go get it! We will see who is behind this." I spoke to Pete.
"Of course" Pete walked out.
