Chapter 4 - Chapter Three: First Head of the Vector I

One kill, one life. The tail was discovered first and its the head's turn to be seen. A woman is beheaded in front of her yard with an axe which is owned by her neighbor many years ago. This is just the time of the month did someone used it for a gruesome way of killing someone and it's not the owner who did it. They told Carnival and Yori that it went missing a week ago. Three days after the previous crime they encountered. At that moment, both of the detectives realized that this person's action is fast than they expected so they decided to accelerate their pace also.

"This person you are talking about is so hooked up with his game. We need to find him or else..." Carnival gave Yori a sharp look that can kill if the world would allow it to, but all knowingly, it won't. "We will see another tail to start with and connect the other ones," she said fixing her elastic gloves.

The wound of the beheaded was not so clean. The forensics also told them that they detected anesthesia all over her body. It was said to be numb before the session of beheading happened.

"What is the estimated time she was...well...killed?" Carnival asked Officer Gregor.

"By the time you arrived, she was already beheaded. Maybe, it happened yesterday, around the time you reported that you received a bomb," the officer answered. Carnival then again thinks. When they are out of the scenes and not with the police, this person is making distractions for them to not trace his next move.

"We are like playing a chess here, aren't we?" Yori commented and Carnival cannot agree less to what he said. They are like the pieces on the back of the chessboard while they eat and eat the poon that they will find first.

"Do you have a suspect from the previous case, officer?" Once again, Carnival is curious. She needs to be faster than this person or else, another life will be serve in front of them.

"Yes. We have a list of suspects and it was enumerated to two now."

"Do you have their faces? Their names?"

"Yes."

"Did you recorded their alibi also when you confronted them?"

"Yes, absolutely."

Officer Gregor signed one of his officers to bring the notebook of information to Carnival about the previous case and the culprits. She read it as fast as she could. The first culprit's alibi is he went to the direction where the victim is killed around that time and he bought something from a store. He doesn't have anyone to witness his intentions except for the lady in-charge at the store. The second culprit's alibi is nothing. He admitted he killed this person and someone commanded him to do so. The police asked him where is he when the scene occur, because they don't believe him. Maybe, he is joking or something.

He is a teenager wearing a North uniform, leaving not that far from the scene itself. He admitted that he can use a sniper for years because of his training for marksman. He will have money if he killed the girl and he also admitted that he is not conscious the whole time he did the crime.

Someone did place some unfamiliar powder in his drink, Carnival presumed. "Thank you, officer. I already know who's the culprit. You may bring him behind the bars today, but...I'm afraid he will be executed if not been guarded," Carnival said, returning the notebook to the officer who gave it to her.

"Who?"

"The one who admitted the crime to you. He is the culprit from the previous case. About the bomb, I think it's the first one who sent us the bomb."

"How did you conclude such thing?"

"Maybe, Carnival assumed that the reason of his existence of buying in a store is about the bomb itself. Did you ask the store what the first culprit bought?" Yori said, seconding a motion. He puts both of his hands in his pockets and lean a little to Carnival's ear. "Good observation, Carett. You amazed me," he complimented.

"Don't make me flutter with your words, mister. You are too close but yet too far to impress me," she shrugged her shoulders.

"Who told you I was impressing you with my words? I was complimenting you and I don't have the intention to flutter you. Did I? And don't you want to say 'thank you'?"

"Thank you for the compliment but we don't have time for a chit-chat and we need to discover the next culprit of this case. Also, you didn't make them call the store first or make them go there to ask if what did the man bought."

"It's bomb powders," Yori answered.

"How did you know?"

"The only mart or store you may find here is a food store which also I heard to be selling gunpowder or bomb powder. They also secretly imports a lot of stuffs which is used for a bomb."

"Well, he made me impressed a little for the bomb creation. It's dainty and marvelous but deadly." Her eyes glistens when she says all of what she wants to say. Yori, being the gentleman again, just said, "Alright, and so he did impressed me."

Yori, as per request of Carnival, asked Officer Gregor to make the other policemen to question the store what the first culprit bought from it and send it to them while they are in action to investigate the recent case they held today.

"We have one in hand for an evidence. We have the information about the weapon which will be the axe that is a neighbor's possession but disappeared at the day when we received the bomb. Also, the day when this crime was done. The culprits might be taken down into whom knew the house of the neighbor and who knew this woman," Yori said, repeating everything they have.

"The woman is a drug dealer with another who I sent into jail before. This woman right here is not caught when we did an undercover arrest at their place nor her partner revealed where she is, and here she is in our sight! Dead, cold, and really peculiar."

Carnival is overthinking things again. She thinks that what if the partner of the corpse killed her? For in fact she thinks it's not even impossible it will happen since the last one that is related to previous was found dead. It's possible that the partner of the victim is used to kill this miss because of a given ransom and is killed. There is a high possible chance it is the reason!

"Did you check the body earlier?" she asked Yori which the boy gave her a questioning look. "For what?" he asked.

"Like at the previous case, we have a microphone there and a camera attached to the body. We need to always check for things that can possibly leak our investigation."

"I already did. It was deep in her throat."

"Throat? Did you - however - get it?"

"Well...I did but I stained my elastic gloves so I need a new pair."

"Did you destroy it already?"

"What else should I do with it?"

"I'm asking a formal question here as your partner in this investigation so don't 'what else should I do with it' me and I will snatched your neck and strangle you!" she exclaimed.

"Speaking of someone who investigates a crime scene but is threatening me. You're one of unique, Carett."

"Shut up, Yori."

Yori just smiled when Carnival faced her back at him. He was mesmerized that his heart made a sound for him to hear. It went so fast and he cannot contain it but to tell himself he is developing feelings for the miss. She is his kind but more of an aggressive one. She is a feminist and can stand on her own feet as the investigation goes on. But Yori is bothered, thinking she needs his assistance for the cases ahead and these two cases previously to them. He needs to protect her.

He observed her from the back. Her hair is brown and her skin is fair as snow. She is slim and can handle her wardrobe well. She looks like a princess in disguise to him. A royalty which he wishes to have right now.

"Do you like someone right now, Carett?" he blurted unconsciously, but he stood still when Carnival went to look at him with her brows furrowed and her eyes as sharp as a sword. But he loves her eyes. He is like walking through an emerald green grass and swimming into a mysterious enchantment ocean.

"Why are you asking that all of the sudden? Out of the whilst of the investigation, I certainly would give you an answer of no as such I would never proclaim I am going to be attracted to another."

"Even your own kind."

"A girl?" She scoffed. "I would never like genders if you all will. I'm more interested to what is in front of me like an investigation for example, or a book."
