Chapter 1 - Hunters

"Magical creatures. What do you think of when you hear that term. Maybe unicorns that fly in the sky and help maidens in trouble or fairies that grant wishes to children or even mermaids that guide boats to safety. Well you're wrong. Let me tell you of the creatures out these walls, I would know, I've seen them, touched them, KILLED them. They are cruel, heartless, horrifying. Why? Because they are not human, they are not one of us. Do you care about a roaches' feelings when you crush it, do you think of their family or what they are doing here. You don't, you just crush them and that's how they think of us. The arrogance, but what they fail to realize is that we are not roaches but predators, HUNTERS by nature. Oh I digress, the point is those creatures out there will grab you any chance they get, rip you limb by limb and devour you. They take joy in your pained struggles and screams. 'growl' Roar!!!"

Children: 'shriek' "Ahh"

"You scared? Good, next time I hear you rascals went out the wall I'll flay ya like a hare."

Children: 'sniff' "Mommy!"

Village woman: " I can't say how much this means to the village that you would talk to them. Thank you."

"There is nothing to be grateful for, anyone would do the same but you have to keep a closer leash on the children, if we weren't on our way to the village and found them first it would have been a sad day for this village."

Village woman: "Yes sir 'Hunter'! By the way why come here? Carl and his friends protect these villages."

"We are following the trail of a dangerous Magi."

Village woman: "My goodness, I hope you get rid of it soon. You should ask Carl for help."

"Yeah, no need to worry once we catch up it's as good as dead."

"Greg! We got to keep moving."

Greg: "I'm coming! Got to go now."

Village woman: "Blessings of 'The Light' and safe journey."

In the dark forest woodlands of Sumara, small human villages are scattered through out. Monsters and magical creatures make a safe connection between these villages impossible but the humans have come up with ways to keep connection through the use of 'Hunters', beings that have surpassed the limit of humanity by any means necessary. These Hunters keep the monsters away from human settlements and roads but sometimes they are not enough. All Hunters are beyond human in strength, specialized in taking down dangerous beings though even with this strength sometimes they are over run or outclassed, like now.

Clang

The sound of metal against metal rings through the night. Sweat pours down his back as his muscles stiffen from the shock of the blow. Never had he imagine he would have to face against a creature of this magnitude. Why did it come here? Pointless question he already knew why.

"Why do you continue this futile struggle. To refuse the grace I grant you. Ignorant creatures. You do not know what you are refusing. How many would kill to be in your position. This is your last chance, submit your everything and become my servants."

Clang

"So that is your answer. Then become mindless beasts doomed to follow me for eternity."

He looked around. There were but a few comrades left. They were exhausted. He knew they could not win. He knew it from the beginning, but, that will not stop him. So he shouted.

"Comrades!"

He speaks to himself as much as his companions

"The time has come. Our trip to Vunemburg. We have protected these lands for our entire life and we will protect it once more. The village stands behind us, the good men, women and children of Kurts. We will not let them be defiled by this evil creature."

So their final song begins

"Let us show the people of Kurts our glorious triumph of good over evil."

A beautiful song of a star at the end of its life.

"Let us show this evil creature the power of our glorious purpose. Are you with me!!"

Kurts final requiem

Hunters of Kurts: "Oorah!!!"

'scoffs dismissively' "Foolish."

...

"What a tragedy."

We were too late. What lay before us is total destruction as if this village faced 'The Wrath of Nature'. Burnt buildings, a road full of holes and corpse everywhere. The anguish and despair of their last moments frozen on their now shriveled faces.

Greg: "Lets go."

We continue trekking to the center of the village. The smell of burnt flesh becomes pungent in the air. Silence reigns as we look on this tragedy unfolding. No doubt intense anger is boiling in everyone.

We reach the center of the village. There in the middle of a huge burnt crater, a warrior stood with his sword ready to swing at the enemy. The air around him is solemn. Everyone could feel the tremendous power held in that swing. I have no doubt if that hit me I would be dead.

Plink

Before I noticed, sweat had accumulated at my feet. How long was I standing there for. What about the others. They were there just as before, but there was one crucial difference. The sun was setting. We arrived at noon but now the sun is setting.

'Fear.'

I could have died.

'Extreme fear.'

We could have all died.

Who is that warrior?

Greg: "Auther go check if he's injured."

Auther: "..."

Greg: "Auther! Auther! Wake up."

Auther: "Yes mom, Shit I mean yeah Cap."

Everyone was caught in the trance

Greg: "Wake the others then check if he is injured."

Its strange, where is the enemy?

Auther: "Come on ladies! How long you gonna stay in bed."

Why is it so quiet? I can't hear a single creature, insect or bird. What really happened here. Was it the warrior that caused this destruction. We definitely saw shriveled corpses on our way in, the monster was here, but has it already been defeated? It couldn't have escaped, surely not.

Auther: "He's dead."

'Shock'

Greg: "He is Dead? That can't be, I'm sure you can feel that immense vitality emanating from his body."

Auther "I can, but without a doubt he is dead."

'Strange' 'Very strange"

'How is that possible.'

Greg: "Stab him."

Auther: "What!"

Greg: "I said stab him."

Auther is skeptical nevertheless he carries out my order.

'Stab'

Blood begins to run out of the wound. As time pass it occurs to us something is wrong. The wound would not stop spurting blood, in fact it was getting more intense. Like a pipe beardly able to handle letting out an endless supply of water. We must leave the crater. Just when we are getting ready to jump out of the blood pool that now reach our knees a change occur. Out the abdomen of the warrior, just at the stab wound, burst out a hand.

Greg: "On guard!!!"

Immediately everyone stops there previous actions and assume battle stances. Before us unravels a spine-chilling site of a human emerging out another human. The warrior's abdomen begins to swell at a visible rate completely destroying his already broken armor. Bulging purple veins begin pulsating and another hand burst out griping the edges and enlarging the wound, a head then proceeds to slowly rise, then the torso. It's so surreal, blood and viscera was flowing down the body of this human. No that's no human, it is a monster, the worst kind, those that masquerade in human flesh seducing humans with their guile and body. A humanoid magi, the very one we are after.

'Rage.'

I can taste the iron in my mouth. The creature slowly turn its head down to face us, then opens its eyes.

'Stunned'

She is so beautiful. Her almond shaped eyes glow with grey light sucking all attention to them like the purest of jewels, accentuated by her full and luscious red lips and skin as white as snow. I want to keep her for my sel...

'No! Lies'

I feel no craving for the flesh of evil

There is nothing but hatred and disgust at those abominations

"Like what you see." 'Smirk'

Greg: "Rhaaa!!!"

Auther: "Attack!"
