Chapter 76 - F

On a Sunny afternoon in the Smith house, everyone is busy with their own thing. Elizabeth and Josh are in the room while Josh is helping her apply oil on her belly. While Evelyn their child was in her bed texting her friends.

"Have I ever told you how pretty you look, while pregnant," Josh smiled, and Elizabeth nodded in response. "Yes, more than I can count actually." She said, "I need to tell you you're pretty no matter how you look. In the morning, afternoon, evening, and night, I continue telling you that." He said kissing her on the forehead. "Also, you're so bangable right now." "If you weren't pregnant, I would have you in bed right now. He said with a smirk on his face.

"JOSH!" She exclaimed. Josh laughed as he entered the bathroom, Elizabeth rolled her eyes as she dropped the towel on the floor and grabbed her dress on the bed.

She placed on her dress and went over to Eveyln's room.

She knocked on the door and then opened it, "Evelyn are you ready?" She asked entering her room and finding Evelyn lying on the bed. "Why are you doing in bed, I told you to get ready. We're going to Lucas's house." She told him, that Evelyn dropped her phone on the bed and looked over at her mom. "I don't want to go, Mom," she said, "and why is that?" She asked, "It's because…umm…" she hesitated, "Come on speak up!" She exclaimed.

"I just don't want to see Lucas," she said told her. Elizabeth sighed as she crossed her arms, "What did you do this time Evelyn?" she asked, "What did I do, you should ask his mom what he did." she stated, "There's no way Lucas did anything to you," she remarked.

Evelyn pouted and tossed in her bed, as she grabbed and ignored her mom. "I'll ask his mom, and if she tells me you did something to hurt that little boy. expect something when coming back," she told her as she closed the door.

Lucas's pov

I sat behind the kitchen counter checking my phone constantly waiting for a message from Steve. After last night, I couldn't stop replaying the event in my head. Had I let my feelings and emotions for Liam take over my mind and heart?

My phone buzzed once again, I quickly looked at it and the text wasn't from Steve.

"You know I've been watching you check the phone constantly and sigh when you don't see what you want." Mom said as she walked over to me, I sighed as I laid my head in the palm of my hand. "What happened, tell me." She smiled softly, I hesitated a little but nothing was going to get better if I held it in.

"Well, when Jun had I went to the Bahamas a month ago I met a guy." "This guy likes me and has told me so many times that he does, and I also developed feelings for him after getting to know him." I started nervously, "When we continued talking even after I came back my feelings for him started to grow," "But I messed up everything last night." I covered my face trying to hold back my tears.

"What happened last night?" She asked, "I was Joking about how I wanted company in bed, and he was up to come and keep me company." "But I told them it was a joke and that I didn't deserve any company when I said that he told me he was going to give me all the company and love I needed," I remarked, "but then I brought up what happened Liam, and he wasn't very happy about it. So after that, he ended the call and he hasn't texted me or called me."

Mom slightly chuckled, "You know Lucas, sometimes you have to let go of your past to proceed. If you keep holding on to the things that are in the past moving on will be hard, and you'll miss out on great opportunities just because you're afraid to get hurt." "Sometimes you have to take a risk to wake you up, taking a risk will open your eyes and it'll guide you to a better path." She said.

"But I can't let go of Liam." "You have to let him go, you can't always have everything you want." She said holding my hands, "And sometimes we have to learn how to let go, no matter how bad it's going to hurt you. You always have to let go eventually." I could feel a teardrop fall down my face. Here I am once again crying over something I sower to cry about.

I loved Liam, he was my first in everything, If I knew things would've turned out this way I wouldn't have opened up my heart.

Mom gently wiped my tears away and patted my back. "But I love him." "I know sweetie, but you have to let him go." She grabbed my face and wiped my tears away. "You can't be crying right, we have people coming over so wipe your tears." She said, "You can go in your room and try calling Steve, maybe you talk things out." She kissed me on the forehead and patted my shoulders.

I sniffled as I nodded and headed upstairs.

In my room, I took a deep breath, trying to compose myself before dialing Steve's number. The room seemed to close in on me, a mix of emotions clouding my mind. I dialed his number, my heart pounding as the phone rang.

"Hey," Steve's voice came through the phone, and I could sense a bit of hesitation in his tone.

"Hi, Steve," I said, my voice slightly shaky. "I... I wanted to talk about last night."

There was a brief pause on the other end before Steve replied, "Yeah, about that... Look, I didn't mean to make things awkward. I just didn't expect you to bring up your past like that."

I sighed, realizing that my attempt at humor had backfired. "I know, Steve. I shouldn't have mentioned it. I... I want to explain."

"No Lucas, I like you, but I can't be the rebound or the one you turn to while you're still hung up on someone else," Steve said, his honesty cutting through the uncertainty.

"I think you should call me when you have decided to let go of him because I don't want to be with someone who is constantly thinking about their ex-lover."

Steve's words resonated in my mind, echoing the reality of my situation. As the call ended, I found myself facing the undeniable truth – I needed to confront my feelings for Liam and let go before I could invite someone new into my life.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Josh and Elizabeth had just arrived. As the doorbell rang, Love rushed to open the door. "Bestie!" She rejoiced as she opened her and hugged Elizabeth. "So you're not going to say hi to me." She said, "I don't care about you, Josh." She said as she grabbed Elizabeth and gently walked her inside.

"Way to treat your bestie-in-law." He said closing the door. "I never claimed you to be my bestie In Law," she told him as she sat Elizabeth down. "Honey, are you going to let her talk to me like that?" He said crossing his arms, Elizabeth smiled and shrugged her shoulders. Josh sighed as he sat down.

"Look at you, you're belly keeps growing day by day." She said gently touching Elizabeth's belly, "You sure you're not having twins?" She asked, "Don't be stupid Love, I'm a doctor. I would know if I'm having twins or not." She said. Elizabeth looked around the house and saw nobody, "where's the whole family?" She asked. "Oh, well Davian took the girls out Shopping Jun went out with his boyfriend and Lucas is just in his room." She said, "Lucas is such a homebody, does he ever do anything." Elizabeth asked, "His going through a lot right now, but he just came back from a Bahamas vacation." She took her.

"Right, that reminds me. Do you know what happened between him and Evelyn? Cause she has been acting weird lately." She asked, "Oh, she didn't tell you." "Tell me what?" Love laughed it off and tried to change the topic. "You know just teenage stuff, they will get over it." "What are you trying to hide Live?" Josh asked, "Look you two, I think it'll be more appropriate if Evelyn told you guys herself. It's not my place to speak on what happened between the kids." She said.

Elizabeth exchanged a concerned glance with Josh, sensing that there might be more to the situation than Love was letting on. Despite the attempt to shift the conversation, the unease lingered.

"Well, we're here now. Maybe we should go check on Lucas and see how he's doing," Josh suggested, trying to read Love's expression for any clues.

Love hesitated for a moment but then shook her head, "I don't think we should get involved in this." Josh and Elizabeth looked at each other confused. "Are Sam's kids and Daniel's kids involved in this too?" She asked, Love nervously laughed and nodded. "Do their parents know this?" Josh asked, "They haven't reached out to me so I don't think so." She told them.

"Look, it's just teenage drama. Growing up we also had our own fair of fights. So let's not get involved in our kid's drama." She said, "I just think you guys should talk to Evelyn, I'm also going to call Aria and Daniel tonight to let them know that they need to talk to Liam." She remarked.

Despite Love's attempts to downplay the situation, Josh and Elizabeth couldn't shake off their concerns. The idea of teenage drama was one thing, but if it involved multiple families, it seemed more complex.

"Maybe you're right, Love. We'll talk to Evelyn, but if it seems serious, we might need to address it with the other parents," Elizabeth suggested, her protective instincts urging her to ensure the well-being of all the kids involved.

Love sighed, realizing that this might escalate beyond what she initially thought. "Just... be gentle with them. Sometimes, it's just a phase, but other times, it's something they might need help navigating."
