Amon sat on his throne, looking at the lands he claimed. Soon, everything he adored will be his. He believes that he ruled the creatures of the land justly. Everyone who was not clear of conscience is gone along with their blood. Those who were at the right age were tasked to do specific work, those who were hungry were fed, those who were weak were trained, and those who were ignorant were educated. Everything was in order.
The Abelians of the lands he stole were forced to bow down at his throne. All of his rules were unquestioned. And those who dared to question were silenced and soon turned into slaves. One day, while Amon was strolling around his kingdom. Alina, a young Edolian girl who later became one of his appointed council, approached him and asked something that piqued his interest. "Why do we need to eat?" The question was simple, but it left Amon thinking...
-----
Lena and Salvino took a stroll around the city to buy new clothes. When they finally bought clothes, they came across the bakery where Salvino ate his first cake. Salvino waved at the baker, but the baker ignored the boy. He was shaking and seemingly afraid of the boy.
"Leave him be" ~Amon.
They went back to the shop and prepared the room for customers. Salvino then asked Amon.
"Can I use magic?" ~Salvino
"Of course, ask Lena to teach you" ~Amon
"But my parents said I was cursed, and cannot use magic" ~Salvino
"You aren't cursed, my child. You are blessed" ~Amon
"Really?" ~Salvino
"My servants gave you the aptitude for all kinds of magic. And because of that, you found your way to me" ~Amon.
"Aptitude?" ~Salvino
"It means you can use all kinds of magic" ~Amon
"But I tried to do what my parents told me nothing happened" ~Salvino
"Your parents don't know how to teach you. We will teach you how to use your magic" ~Amon
This made Salvino excited and approach Lena.
"Can you teach me Magic?" ~Salvino
"Yes, of course, Salvino, we will start tomorrow." ~Lena
"Okay!" ~Salvino
After a while, the shop closed. Salvino went to his room and attempted to sleep, but he couldn't. He was too excited to learn magic. In the middle of his enthusiasm, unpleasant memories haunted him.
Salvino touched his mother's enchanted jewelry, and it melted like ice. This angered Salvino's mother, and then she began to batter him.
"It's all your fault!" ~Salvino's mother
But his older brother Theo intervened.
"Mom, I'll buy you a new one." ~Theo
"It was an heirloom from your grandmother!" ~Salvino's mother
"You don't have to hit your son!" ~Theo
"How dare you lecture me!" ~Salvino's mother
"Mom, if you keep acting like this, I'll leave with Salvino." ~Theo
This stopped Salvino's mother from beating him. Because Theo has been handling their expenses since their father's business went terribly, and it happened on Salvino's birth.
When his father's business finally closed down.
"You cursed child!" ~Salvino's father
"Stop, father! It's not profitable anyway." ~Theo
"How dare you say that!" ~Salvino's father
"If you don't, I'll leave with Salvino" ~Theo
"You dare threaten me?" ~Salvino's father
"How can you take his side?! He's the reason why our family is falling apart!" ~Salvino's mother
"He's cursed! Don't you see the mark under his feet!" ~Salvino's father
"There's no such thing" ~Theo
Salvino's parents and Theo argued until their parents gave up. They can't question their son, who was taking charge of their daily sustenance.
One day, Magnus declared war on Aria, their hometown. His older brother was dispatched. After a while, their parents received news that Theo was missing. They heard no information about Theo's disappearance for a month, so they believed he was dead.
While grieving for Theo, his father went to find a job but was denied by every business he went to. They also declined his admittance to join the war because of his severed arm. In the end, they decided that Salvino should replace him. So they taught Salvino how to wield a sword, but he was too frail to lift a blade. They taught Salvino how to use magic, but none of the methods worked. This continued for sixty days until his parents had enough. They were down to eating a spoonful a day to sate their hunger.
"Get out!" ~Salvino's father
"Papa?..." ~Salvino
"Get out now!" ~Salvino's father
Salvino's father chased him out with a sword, and Salvino ran until he reached the capital. That's when he lost his way and was never able to return.
Salvino's eyes became teary. Amon noticed and asked him.
"What's wrong?" ~Amon
Salvino started sobbing, so Amon peeked at his mind.
"Want to make them pay?" ~Amon
Salvino was surprised that the god saw what he was thinking, but he gave no reply because he remembered his older brother.
"Want them to admit they're wrong?" ~Amon
Salvino nods.
"I'll make sure that happens. Sleep now, Salvino. You need enough rest for tomorrow" ~Amon.
"Okay, thank you. Amon" ~Salvino
As Salvino closes his eyes. Amon was surprised at how forgiving Salvino was, despite what his parents did to him. But for him, it is a sign of weakness. He used to rule with the belief that mistakes should not go unpunished or they're bound to repeat it.
~The next day
After eating breakfast, Salvino excitedly approached Lena.
"Can I learn magic now?" ~Salvino
"Okay, you need proper clothes. We are going to the forest." ~Lena
"Why?" ~Salvino
"It's the best place to learn magic" ~Lena
"Okay!" ~Salvino
But it was only half the truth. There is magic that only Edos can use, and Lena is concealing the fact that she is an Edolian. Upon arriving at their destination, Lena taught Salvino about the different kinds of mana.
Arnonus, the mana from the world. A kind of mana that can create and control all the states of water. Due to the uniqueness of this mana, it can cleanse the effects of all other manas. It is also known as water magic.
Azarinus, the mana from Azar, the god of fire. A kind of mana that can control heat and create flames. Those who have this mana are tenacious. It is a very active kind of mana that flows around the body. It is also known as fire magic.
Dharina, the mana from Sapphira, the goddess of Earth. A kind of mana that can control and create rocks. Those who have this mana have a better awareness of their surroundings. It is also known as earth magic.
Aninus, the mana from the god of the skies, Anan. A kind of mana that can control the fluidity and create winds. Far-reaching mana that can envelop a city. It is also known as air magic.
Hayanima, the mana from Abelia, the goddess of life. A kind of mana that can nourish or rejuvenate life. Those who have this mana can communicate with any form of living. It is also known as healing magic.
Kedarinus, the mana from the guardian god, Amon. A kind of mana that can be shaped by will. It can be channeled outside the body and reacts with other manas, minds, and souls. It is also known as Edolian magic.
The Void is a kind of mana that only gods can use. The strongest and purest form of mana. It can create anything, and the only limit is the capacity of mana the god has. Only a few people understand this magic and call it Divine magic.
Salvino didn't seem to pay attention, so Lena continued.
"Next is channeling" ~Lena
"Channeling?" ~Salvino
Lena then points at a tree and shoots a water bullet.
"Wow, how do I do that?" ~Salvino
"Close your eyes and empty your mind" ~Lena
Salvino closes his eyes.
"Like this?" ~Salvino
"Yes. While doing that, focus on the sensation that flows from the outside to the inside of your body." ~Lena
"Which one?" ~Salvino
"The one that flows freely" ~Lena
"The one that feels the most comfortable" ~Amon
So Salvino focused on that sensation.
"Now reach your palm forward and release all of that sensation through your palm." ~Amon
Salvino released a current of water to the direction he was reaching.
"Wow! I did it! Thank you, Lena. Thank you, Amon! I can finally use magic!" ~Salvino celebrated
This surprised Lena. Not only did Salvino create a current bigger than his body, but he also did it without her instructions. But she knew Amon helped him.
"Do you feel tired?" ~Lena
"No, not really." ~Salvino
Lena is confused. How can a small boy release so much mana without feeling fatigued? Is it because he is Amon's vessel?
"Can you do it again?" ~Lena
"Yes, I think?" ~Salvino
So Lena continued to teach Salvino how to channel all kinds of magic except Edolian and the Divine magic that she couldn't use. This repeated for years until the boy mastered the five manas and became fifteen. Now Lena thinks the boy is ready to learn Edolian magic.
"This time, It's Kedarinus" ~Lena
"Yes! Finally!" ~Salvino
Salvino has changed throughout the years of training. Now he is more enthusiastic than ever to become stronger.
