Chapter 229 - Ready to Die(5)

After destroying the barricade in the hallway leading to the roundtable chamber, Zorin and her Millenium soldiers were free to enter and planned to slaughter everyone within with their bare hands, but Zorin had other plans.

"Fire another rocket."

"But this is our last Panzerfaust rocket. It could be valuable to us."

"I don't care. They are done for anyway. So fire the rocket and blow them up! Leave nothing!"

"Jawohl," The Millennium soldier nodded as he aimed the Panzerfaust, only to notice someone stepping out of the roundtable room, "Hm? Lieutenant, we have someone approaching us from the room."

True to his words, Zorin and the rest of her men saw a figure leaving the roundtable room and making its way toward them.

It was Cassandra.

"ゴ ゴ ゴ ゴ ゴ ゴ ゴ ゴ ゴ"

"Oh? Are you approaching us? Instead of running away, you're coming right in an army of vampires? Half of your mercenaries are dead or too weak to fight while your family and Seras are scattered across the manor dealing with my forces and the Reich, and yet you dare approach us alone?!"

"I can't cut all of your heads off without getting closer." Cassandra gave them a frigid response as she continued approaching them.

"Oh ho! Then come as close as you like," Zorin said in a raspy voice as she glanced at the Millenium soldier holding a Panzerhaust over his shoulder, "Fire the rocket at her." she commanded in a hoarse tone.

"But-"

"Do it!"

The Millenium soldier complied and took aim at Cassandra's direction before pulling the trigger of the Panzerfaust. However, the trigger was jammed.

"You're kidding me, it's jammed! Oh, zis is embarazzing…"

Without any of them knowing, a barrage of bullets rained on them, leaving massive death with Zorin the only one left.

Standing with her Halloconnen in her hands, Seras revealed herself as she stood beside Cassandra.

"Vell, vell, vell, you finally show up, Hellsing's vampire."

Looking at Cassandra, Seras asked, "You okay?"

"I'm good."

Immediately, Seras' chest snaps the straps from her guns and drops them to the floor and decides to use her fists against Zorin for now.

"Two v one? Doesn't it seem unfair to you?"

"So long as we can kill you, it won't matter." Cassandra responded with a confident smirk.

Suddenly the ceiling above Cassandra burst open, allowing multiple Robot Soldats to arrive and start assaulting her.

"Really bad timing!" Cassandra shouted as she ducked under one of the Soldat Robots' attacks.

"While she's busy," Zorin said as she glanced at Seras, "Do you plan on surrendering?" she asked.

"That's some tough talk coming from you." Seras spat back.

With a malicious grin, Zorin puts her hand up to reveal an eye on her palm and says, "You're going to enjoy this."

Touching the floor, Zorin once again activated her illusion powers, filling the hallway where she and Seras were in symbols as the hallway morphed and started showing her images and memories of her past. Zorin's ability not only allows her to create illusions but also transmit projections of that person's past and make them see it in order to lower their defense. Zorin started showing her a memory of her childhood which showed her parents being murdered by two criminals and which she witnessed back then as a child but she couldn't do anything since she wasn't strong and all of it was so quickly sudden. Seeing that from the memory Seras broke into tears, had trouble breathing, and was in a completely traumatized state.

As soon as the illusion ends, Zorin stares mockingly at the broken and tearful Seras and says, "You were carrying such a heavy burden in your heart. How surprising. Let's lighten that burden shall we?"

Zorin slices off Seras' arm, making Seras scream in pain. The next thing Zorin did was impale Seras through the back, forcing her to fall profusely bleeding to the ground but fortunately still alive because of her vampire physique. If Seras was still a human before, she would have died instantly.

"Seras!" Cassandra cried out anxiously as she repelled the Robot Soldats onslaught, "Hold on!"

"You're such a weakling. I expected you to be more of a challenge, but you're just trash, just like the rest of the men I killed here." Zorin continued her mocking statements and slashed Seras' eyes, blinding her completely, "Now it's time I get rid of you. How bout I cut your head off and give you a quick death!"

Swinging her scythe down on Seras, Zorin attempts to finish her off. But before the scythe could strike her, Zorin was greeted by a wounded Pip who ran up to strike her in the head with the butt of his assault rifle.

"Stay away from her!"

Pulling out his revolver, Pip immediately shoots Zorin multiple times as she falls to the floor lifeless— at least that's what Pip believed. But he didn't give it any more thought as he hurriedly carried Seras while Cassandra eliminated the last Robot Soldat and Miller, Willingham and the rest of the remaining mercenaries throwed smoke grenades on the floor to cover their escape.

"Come on, Sir. Let's get out of here!" said one of the mercenaries.

"The manor is lost." Miller later said.

"My pleasure." Pip replied as he started walking down the hallway along with the rest and tried to leave the manor.

"...I'll....only slow you down... leave me." Seras mumbled painfully.

"Don't talk." Pip said.

"Come on, we need to get you out of here." Cassandra said as she moved forward. Suddenly, Zorin's scythe came flying towards her and split her in two, however, being made out of insects, she was able to regenerate back together. However, the moment the weapon passed through her, it struck Pip through his chest instead, the blade piercing his body so deeply that he coughed out blood and dropped on the floor along with Seras.

"Sir!"

"PIP!"

Trying his best to ignore the pain, Pip crawls along the floor as he removes the scythe and throws it away before putting his back against a wall and sitting down on the floor. Seras, who was still blind, kept calling his name and over until she heard his breathing, at which point she crawled over to take hold of his collar.

"Bernadotte?"

In his final moments, Pip grabs Seras' head and pushes for a passionate kiss on the lips, his last act in the realm of living. This surprised the rest including Seras, who momentarily accepted the kiss for a short while before the two separated with a string of blood connecting their lips.

Pip laughs, but stops short when he starts to cough out more blood, saying, "Seras, do not cry. Absorb my... blood. Heal yourself and we shall take them all down... together."

Death finally catches up to Pip as he falls, Seras attempting to reach for him but his lifeless body hits the floor with a smile all that's left on his face. Pip was no more. Seras hugs his head close to her chest and starts crying as she starts remembering the good and funny times she had with him ever since he started working with Hellsing. But now he is gone.

Everyone stayed silent at the scene. It was a bittersweet moment between the two that none of the mercenaries didn't dare speak. Some didn't bother commenting because of the circumstances behind it. It was not appropriated at the time.

Cassandra stared at the scene. Contrast the others, her face was darkened with no words uttering from her.

"Heart breaking isn't it?"

It was until someone disturbed the silence, they all whirled around to see Zorin, who was alive and well since the bullets Pip used to kill her weren't silver.

"Pests like him who try to buzz me off will meet a fate like that."

At that moment, everyone spotted more Millennium soldiers standing behind Zorin.

"You think I ran out of men? Let's just say the men behind me are late to the party," Zorin said with a maniacal smile.

"Reinforcements," Miller mumbled under his breath with a dreadful expression.

"All you are insects," Zorin snarled as she raised her palm to display an open eye before adding, "...meant to squashed like the bugs you are. Just like that pathetic captain of your mercenary group. Such as the life of the insolent bu-"

At that moment, the ceiling above Cassandra and the rest breaks apart a few meters away from them, bringing down a damaged Guard Robot and standing on top of it was Alcina and her daughters, Bela and Daniela.

"Mother! Sisters!"

"You!"

"Me." Alcina said with a smirk. However, she, Bela and Daniela noticed the injured Seras holding the deceased Pip on her arm.

"Pip!" Bela and Daniela shouted.

"Oh no," Alcina muttered as she coldly glared at Zorin, "What did you do?"

Zorin ignored her question and activated her illusion powers, covering the entire hallway in symbols.

"Not this again," Miller stepped back, shuddering.

"Enough with this mind fucking!" Shouted another mercenary.

"You do know your illusions won't work on me and my daughters, right?" Alcina said.

"I'll take my chances."

"No one moves!"

At that moment, Zorin and her men turned around to see a dozen Reich soldiers and two Panzerhunds standing down the hallway and had their weapons pointed at them and the rest.

"By ze orders of ze General and ze Forsaken, ve are here to exterminate y'all!"

"Really?! Right now?!" Zorin shouted, utterly annoyed at their technological advanced counterparts.

"Damn it, they must've followed me." Alcina murmured.

All three seperate groups were now in a heated and tense standoff with one another and only one of them will leave this manor alive.

"...You called him an insect?"

"Hm?"

Zorin arched an eyebrow at the words, turning to the source of the voice see Seras clenching her fist with intense rage within her.

"I'll make you pay. I WILL MAKE YOU... PAY!"

Using her vampire fangs, Seras bites down into the deceased Pip's throat, drinking his blood and unknowingly taking his soul as well.

"What is she doing?!" Daniela shouted in bewilderment.

"...Going past her human self and becoming so much more." Alcina answered as the corner of her lips raised upwards.

The pact is formed. As Seras was absorbing his blood, her hellsing uniform turned blood red and all her injuries were healed. Her left arm regenerated completely and was replaced into a dark matter material, taking on the form of a shadow tendril with her eyes now permanently crimson red.

"And thus, she has now become... A true vampire." Alcina said with a pleased smile.

Releasing Pip's neck and standing up from her feet, an amount of power radiating from Seras instantly shattered Zorin's illusion completely.

"She broke through her illusion?!" A terrified millennium soldier cried out.

The next instant, Zorin noticed her men were trembling and were showing signs of fear just at the sight of Seras.

'These battle hardened soldiers, all vampires... are being afraid of just one girl?!'

In the Wolfenstein soldiers' side, while most of them shared the same feeling as their vampire counterparts, the one at the front simply gave the scene a bored look.

"Alright, enough of this," The Reich soldier said as he raised his gun and start the engagement of combat, but as he was about to fire off, a call came over his radio, interrupting him as he pick it up and answered, "Ja? Jawohl."

Gazing back at the two parties that were about to engage in battle, the Reich soldier announced, "Change of orders, looks like ve have other things to get busy in the city. Goodbye to you all."

And just like that, dark aether portals materialized out of thin air behind them and the Reich forces entered them before they closed, leaving the millennium soldiers with their impending death.

"Well, we are doomed."

*Music Play — Living Dead Girl*

With burning rage in her soul, Seras charges towards the Millennium soldiers, which they all attempt to shoot down the vampiress with zero avail as she proceeds to slaughter the nazi vampire soldiers with extreme prejudice. Ripping them apart with her dark matter tendrils like a crimson tornado at extremely fast speeds that even Zorin's eyes had a hard time catching up.

"What is this? She can't be the same girl from before. She's completely changed!" Zorin mumbled with a horrified look on her face. "She's like a fuckin' blender, turning my men into paste! A German Bloody Mary!"

After finishing every single Millenium soldier, Seras reaches Zorin and grabs her by the face before forcibly smashing her head against the ground, dragging her across the hallway as Zorin's scythe lays discarded.

Groans and screams can be heard from Zorin as she goes for a punch but Seras uses her vampire jaws and bites off her hand.

Before long, Seras slammed her head to the wall and proceeded to run forward down the hallways at full speed, dragging Zorin across the walls as the right side of her head was ripped apart from friction.

"Is she even the same girl from before?" Miller wondered.

Alcina answered, "She is still Seras, but has only transcended her human self and accepted her vampire side to its fullest, just as Alucard wanted her to accept."

After an extensive drag along to the wall, Zorin succumbs to death after being ripped apart to pieces from friction. Seras throwed her remains to the floor as blue flames soon engulfed her body and began burning her to ash. Walking away from the burning body of Zorin, Seras moved to join the others.

"You've finally done it." Alcina said proudly as she smiled at her.

"Thank you," Seras said with a smile of her own, then looked down at Pip's lifeless body, "Thank you for everything, Mr. Bernadotte."

Alcina pats her back as she joined Seras, the Dimitrescu daughters and the remaining Wild Geese mercenaries including Miller and Willingham to mourn the loss of Pip.

…That is, until Miller noticed something in the blue flames consuming Zorin's body.

A twitch.

"Uhhh Seras, shouldn't she be dead?"

"Hm?"

Confused about what Miller's words meant, everyone turned to gaze at the burning corpse of Zorin and noticed the blue flames that were burning her suddenly shifted to an ominous purple.

At the next moment, Zorin's corpse stood straight up as her entire right arm began covering itself into dark aether crystals while the entire right side of her head regenerated from scratch before being crystallized into dark aether crystals with the eye on the palm of her hand now glowed with dark aether color, including all of her tattoos and her entire body radiating with dark aether energy revolving around her body. Otherwise the rest of her looks were still the same.

"I'm back, bitches!"

"How!? I killed you!"

Studying her transformed arm and body with fascination, Zorin grinned, "The Forsaken wasn't kidding," she laughed, "This power is truly something."

"Made a deal with the Forsaken, heh? How cute." Alcina said mockingly.

"Bitch, I'm adorable!"

Using her newly aquired dark aether powers, she pulls her scythe towards her and grabs it without reaching at all, as if she can move things with her mind.

"Round two, Seras?"

Seras narrowed her eyes and cracked her knuckles, "Oh, I will-"

Before finishing her sentence, Alcina stopped Seras from approaching the dark aether-powered Zorin and shook her head, "No. You've done enough. Those Reich forces withdrawing back to the city means something big may be occuring there. Seras, take my daughters and head for the city to find Integra and the rest."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'll deal with Zorin," Alcina replied as she looked at the Wild Geese mercenaries, "Leave the mansion! I'll personally inform Integra myself about your job's pay."

Nodding their heads, the mercenaries left the hallway while Seras leaped out of the window and morphed her dark matter tendrils into wings while the Dimitrescu daughters dissolved themselves into a swarm of flies before speeding towards the city at full speed.

As the sun was beginning to gently rise beyond the horizon, Alcina turned to face back at Zorin and said, "You know your Major will not take your betrayal lightly."

"Oh please I disobeyed his orders to conduct reconnaissance, and even if I succeeded with the mission he wouldn't pay me back in kindness such as a madman like him would do, and since my biochip had been destroyed and the crystal resurrected me as a dark aether-fuelled vampire that is now immune to the sun…"

With a deranged grin, Zorin laughed, "I'm no longer bound to Millenium! And with this new power I can even end Alucard or the entire world's military with it! I am now a cosmic powerhouse! And you are nothing more than an insect to be crushed beneath my feet!"

Hearing what she said, Alcina burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?"

Alcina chuckled, "You are the most arrogant person I have ever met. And really? "Beat Alucard"? You must be joking. Just because you have those new powers doesn't make you invincible, and me and Alucard showed that example to that lump of dogshit Luke Valentine in the most brutal way possible."

"Don't forget you're also a monster."

"Yes, a monster, given a chance by a cat at redemption and having affections for another monster. You see Zorin, we are monsters, true, but with different goals and motivations and while what I did back in the village cannot be excused, nor can the slaughtering you did in this manor including mister Bernadotte's death, and for that you will be perish by my hands," Alcina declared as her expression shifted to one of seriousness, "So hear my words, Zorin. I am Alcina Dimitrescu. Countess, Lord, and the Dragon of House Dimitrescu and Ruler of Castle Dimitrescu."

As soon as Alcina finished her words, her body transformed into her half-dragon form as two massive white dragonic wings sprouted out her back along with a long tail covered in white fur and white antler horns emerged from her head as her claws became much sharper, longer and deadlier.

Immediately after her transformation finally finished, Alcina gave Zorin a menacing glare. Zorin followed suit as she and Alcina both took a battle stance.

"Now it's time for this Dragon Countess..."
