Chapter 16 - Episode 15

According to the detective it had probably been one week, two days, fifteen hours, eight minutes and two seconds since Veronica had gone missing. He had tried his best to follow Cyril's trail but all routes had led to dead ends. The only lead that could reveal something was his bank information. There was something hidden in the information that could lead them to Cyril, but he didn't want to jinx it by telling his team, so he kept it to himself until the time was right. Perhaps he was scared he wouldn't find anything but did not want to look like a fool if his instinct was wrong.

At around 11 am on the 10th day of Veronica's demise, the detective recieved his warrant signed by a high court judge, instructing the bank to release the needed information. Immediately, the detective headed straight for the bank.

At the bank he tendered the letter to the manager and waited until he had read through the piece and shook his head in agreement. The manager tapped on his keyboard and after about 30 seconds he printed a copy of the customer's information. He handed the information to the detective, he collected it and read through Cyril's information and he found what he was looking for.

Abiola had been confined to the room since he came to Alice's home, he could not move freely as he would choose. Alice had gotten him a wheelchair from the hospital she worked in, so he could wheel himself but he could only go so far. Alice though had been helpful, she had tried her best to put a smile on his face, she would feed him anytime he ate his meal. She would bathe him and apply ointment on his body. His medication was always given to him on time.

He would stare at her with so much endearment, sometimes she caught his glance and would return it with a smile.

My friends, i dare say that Abiola has been swept, perhaps a jewel of great value is found.

Counsellor Michael - the detective - was in 'seventh heaven' when his instinct played out well. The one detail that would give life to his investigations had finally reached him and he was going to pursue it full throttle.

On Cyril's bank information, he had used someone close to him as his 'next of kin' and her name was Alice Okunsayan his cousin. Her phone number was on the information slip.

The detective didn't call her line in order not to spook her, and lose the only lead they had. He had the IT team scan her phone number once again to see her own information. In a few minutes the results came back, it revealed her address, her work place; Abeokuta Emissary Hospital.

He smiled at the sight of the report, it was time for a chase once again.

{Meanwhile}

Cyril had successfully accomplished his task, "smooth sailing" as he likes to describe the experience. There had been no hiccups and no stumbling block. Once a lady he had taken to a hotel from the night club had woken up earlier than expected and asked for her underwear.

"Maybe you lost it in the car" he answered

"As we were in a hurry to enjoy ourselves. You take this money and get another one."

At the sight of the of the boodle she smiled and collected it and said nothing more.

Nonso was also done with his, Cyril could see the regret and distress on his face when they met.

"My bro, why are you looking pale now?" Cyril asked.

"Cyril I don't want to talk about it, please."

It was obvious to Cyril that the Oracle had demanded something of great value and it tore Nonso apart.
