*Lily POV*
The sun had risen to its peak when I finally arrived at the gates of Oakenhold. The town below it bustled with energy as the townsfolk hung up decorations. I was not sure which holiday it was, but it looked important to the people.
I wanted to find out more. But before I could even think to ask, my body ached, sharply reminding me of the first transformation that I had just undergone. Maybe now wasn’t the best time to go and speak to anyone, maybe I just needed to get inside and rest.
Or speak to Erik.
The thought brightened me, and the pain that coursed through me didn’t feel as powerful any longer. I wasn’t sure if that was just because my thoughts were turned to Erik, or if my body was already healing and acclimatizing to the new things around me. I couldn’t tell.
Or maybe I just didn’t want to. I knew that I had to speak to Erik, but I wasn’t entirely sure that he would believe me. And I didn’t want to think too much about what it would mean if he didn’t.
