“Let no one escape!” I ordered my archers.
My loyal soldiers shot forth a barrage of arrows that cut down the remainder of Hawke’s pitiful regiment as they tried to flee. As shrewd as my little brother was, he was no battle tactician. All his best ideas were the ones he got from me.
“Should we execute the prisoners, you Highness?” one of my soldiers asked me.
“Leave a few alive. Let us see how loyal they are before they break.”
I mounted my horse and rode back to my estate with my personal guards in tow. Two months of these skirmishes and battles for resources had become tedious. I had control over the most lucrative trade routes, however, Hawke had claimed much of Oakheart’s natural resources when he claimed the Southern region of the country.
