Dashing, Lionel stroke the rock with his two fore fingers and cracks appeared on the rock and a faint smoke was barely visible.
With his hands still covered with bandages he stared at them not believing they could do what they did, despite their condition.
" The technique is indeed amazing!" Lionel thought.
Darkness had already dominated and everyone was probably already sleeping.
" Now I can have a rest."
The next morning he got up early and dressed himself up and went to have his breakfast.
" Now make sure you're 1m apart from each other. Our lesson is about to start."
" All of you follow my lead. This are the basics which every one should know. If you ever want to learn more there a lot of books in the library you can learn from them."
" Okay, fighting stance!" The mentor commanded and all of the students imitated him.
" When I say left jab, you throw your left punch forward. Now let's go."
" Left jab!" All students obeyed as they punched the air.
" Left jab!" They punched the air.
" Add more strength. Left jab." They punched the air more fiercely.
" Good. Now let's go for the right jab. Maintain your fighting stance."
" Right jab!" Using their right fists they thumped the air hardly.
" Right jab!" All students threw a punch.
" Right jab!" All students threw a punch.
" Bravo!" The mentor exclaimed.
" Maintain your fighting stance, the lesson isn't over yet."
Some students had already started sweating but they still maintained their stance.
" When I command left kick, you shall kick the air like this without moving your right foot." The mentor instructed them.
" Get ready. Left kick!" The mentor commanded and all of them threw a kick
" You ain't putting all your strength yet, again!"
" You're trying. Now it's time for your right foot to come into action."
Although some of them wished this could end faster they all followed what the mentor ordered.
After about 20 minutes it was all over.
" Now that you've all learned the basics you can visit the library and choose technique of your preference. You can ask other mentors or myself for guidance."
" Yes mentor." They all replied.
" Good. Tomorrow we'll be having an outdoor lesson."
Outdoor lesson? Most students began getting anxious about the Lesson.
" Sir, what's the lessons about." A girl asked.
" You'll just know by tomorrow. Just proceed to your issues and don't forget to pick a technique at the library."
The students had their lunch and they attacked the library as soon as they finished their lunch.
The librarian was there to maintain order.
Lionel was observing a book to see if he could catch any interest in the given technique as he leaned a little on the shelf.
" No." He thought as he returned the book back to its position.
As he turned to look for more manuals he saw Lyla struggling to fetch a book from the top shelf due to her height.
He smirked and walked towards her who immediately stopped what she was doing as she saw him coming.
Lionel easily withdrew the book which she was trying to get and he gave it to her.
" I won't say thank you." Lyla immediately said after receiving it.
" No need." Lionel said and gave her a wink and turned to take a yellow book from the shelf.
Lyla walked away silently leaving Lionel scanning the book which was titled " Earth shattering palm."
" This was what I was looking for." He thought as a smile emerged on his face.
He immediately went to the librarian and registered himself that he borrowed the book.
" What technique did you get?" Asked Chris as they got out of the library.
" Earth shattering palm. What's yours?" Lionel asked.
" Warlord strike." Chris replied.
" When are you going to start learning?" Lionel asked him.
" After tomorrow's outdoor lesson I think." Chris replied.
" Though I don't know what the outdoor lesson is, but I also think it's a perfect timing."
They walked to their block and each parted in his room.
Lionel immediately removed his cloth and entered in the tub and had a comforting bath.
After dressing in his casual robes he took the manual and sat behind his study desk and started reading slowly as the the night took control.
He closed the book as he placed it at the edge of the table and went to have a satisfying dinner and returned back to his room .
He sat on his bed cross legged as he dived in his spirit domain as he slowly absorbed spirit energy after about 20 minutes of pure concentration he opened his eyes while letting out a deep sigh.
He took one of his ultra soul regeneration pills and laid himself down and fell a sleep.
The next morning he got ready for his class. It was the end of the third week since his arrival at the academy.
The mentor led them till to a tall hill just behind the academy.
They were many basket each full of stones in it.
Everyone got a glimpse of what the lesson would be after seeing an hour glass on a table.
" Okay, now here's what we're gonna do. Each one of will carry a basket on their backs and will climb with it to the top of the hill and you should fetch Red flags from their and come back with them to the foot."
" But sir, the baskets weigh to about 20 kg. Isn't that a torture?" The most curious girl of the class asked her name was " Claire".
" This is the most important lesson which you'll have to learn it this way."
" To make it more interesting, If you succeed to bring the flag before two hours you'll get a life energy pearl as your reward."
" And in addition, there are inspectors everywhere around the hill. If you dare leave your basket or help your friend or rob the flag from your friend or you use any kind cheating, you'll be cleaning the studio the whole term. Is it understood?"
" Yes mentor." They all replied.
" Good. Now you should get going." Everyone wore the baskets on their backs.
As soon as he turned the hour glass they all set out to the hill. They had only two hours to get the flags and come back down.
Climbing an 800 metres hill is no joke, but with about 20 kg on your back it was bizarre.
They all jogged circling around the hill. After just a short distance some were already out of breath and they stopped to take a rest.
Leading them were Lyla and Hector. Followed by Claire and then came Lionel and Chris who jogged alongside each other.
In about 20 minutes they were already at the half point and many others had already stopped to rest along way. At this point Claire had also to take a break, Chris and Lionel jogged past her.
After 10 more minutes Lyla and Hector had to stop too. The duo ran past them.
It was barely another 10 minutes when Chris was also out of breath too.
" I can't go any further. I have to rest." Chris said panting as he sat down.
" Come on, don't tell me you haven't understood the lesson yet?" Lionel said.
" What do you mean?" Asked Chris.
" Look the mentor said that this lesson is important for our cultivation so it isn't only about fitness, it's also about durability."
" If it could only be about physical strength, trust me it could have taken me only 5 minutes more for me to be seeking for breath."
" So what should I do?" Chris asked.
" You should use your spirit energy to maintain your physical strength and you won't find any problem."
Chris sighed and in a 30 seconds meditation he could stand up again.
" Let's go." Chris said.
They continued jogging to the top and each one of them took a flag.
Going down the hill was easier. All other students who had stopped were surprised.
They handed the flags to the mentor who could be seen very happy.
" At least the two of you have understood the lesson." The mentor complimented handing each of us with a pearl.
" You take that like a pill and when you'll be able to absorb it's energy you'll be able to step into the second or third level of spirit fighter stage."
" I'm so tired I don't think I can train for today anymore." Chris said as we walked back to the academy.
" Me neither." Lionel replied...
