Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 As If Reborn_1

Jiang Chen had a dream.

In the dream, he watched helplessly as his mother died. Afterward, his personality changed drastically, and as he wandered aimlessly, he stumbled upon an ancient medical text and a set of martial techniques. He then spent a full ten years learning this medicine and martial techniques, treating people for free during the day and at night, sneaking into the homes of rich but unkind tycoons, robbing from the rich to give to the poor, and acting as an avenger for heaven.

During those ten years, he also met his true love. The two were perfectly matched, like a harmonious melody in unison.

Ten years later, he bid farewell to his dear friend and returned to the Li family, intending to kill the entire Li family to avenge his mother. But he didn't expect that Li Liyun had married into a wealthy household with strict security. One careless move exposed his identity, and while fleeing, he fell off a cliff to his death.

These scenes flashed through Jiang Chen's mind like lightning, his emotions alternating between sadness, laughter, and utter despair. It was only in the instant that he hit the bottom of the cliff that he let out a cry of "ah," and woke up to find himself still lying in the pool of blood at the Li family's doorstep, seemingly nothing had changed.

Was that just a dream? But how could it feel so real?

Moreover, to Jiang Chen's astonishment, he could still remember every detail of that dream.

Including... those astonishing medical skills and martial techniques that took him ten years to learn.

Jiang Chen got to his feet involuntarily and started to practice the martial techniques that came to his mind.

Then, he was shocked.

Because he wielded those martial techniques as if they were second nature, as though they were etched into his brain.

"My God, could it be that all of that was not a dream? That it's real! It's my own future?"

Jiang Chen was completely dumbfounded, a suspicion too incredible yet impossible to dismiss arose from the depths of his heart.

If that were true, couldn't he use those medical skills to treat his mother?

Jiang Chen became excited.

"Yo, Jiang Chen, you can still stand up? You have thick skin indeed."

Just then, Xu Yan came out from the door with Li Liyun and two bodyguards, approaching Jiang Chen with a smirk that didn't quite reach her eyes, "But why haven't you left yet? Do you want to be beaten again... "

But before she could finish her sentence, Jiang Chen suddenly raised his hand and slapped her across the face with a "smack".

"Ah!"

Xu Yan cried out in shock, covering her face, immediately dumbfounded.

Li Liyun and the two bodyguards behind her were also stunned, completely unprepared for Jiang Chen's sudden attack.

"You, you dare hit me?"

Xu Yan couldn't believe it. The Jiang Chen who had not talked back or fought back when being ridiculed and beaten had actually dared to hit her? If not for the burning pain on her face reminding her, she would have thought it was an illusion.

But before she could come to her senses, Jiang Chen lifted his foot and with a "thud," kicked Xu Yan, sending her flying backward to crash into the two bodyguards.

Watching Xu Yan topple over from his blow, Jiang Chen felt a bit of the pent-up resentment inside him dissipate. But he knew now was not the time to entangle with these people; saving his mother was what mattered.

"Remember this, this is just the interest. You all owe me, and I will make you pay it all back!"

Leaving behind these words, Jiang Chen bent down, picked up the ring, and ran off, leaving behind the dumbstruck Li Liyun and the painfully groaning Xu Yan.

...

In Jinhai City Hospital, during the peak hours, the place was bustling with people.

Suddenly, cries of pain echoed from the emergency corridor.

"Mom, Mom, please wake up, wake up…"

In front of a rushing emergency cart, a stunningly beautiful woman in black clothes was frantically crying out in panic.

On the cart was her mother, pale as ash, with eyes tightly shut, clearly lifeless.

"Stop crying already, your mom is dead, what's the use of crying?" Director Li stood by, his face expressionless as he spoke coldly.

With a "thump," the woman in black turned around, knelt in front of Director Li, "No, that can't be right, she's just fainted, I beg you, please wake my mother up."

Director Li rolled his eyes, "Do you think I am a deity? There's no saving her."

The woman was utterly despairing, collapsing to the ground in a heap, weeping bitterly, consumed by her sorrow.

The onlookers around also silently shook their heads, and although the deceased was not their relative, at this moment, they too felt a sense of shared suffering, pitying this woman.

But pity was just pity, and they all knew, just as Director Li had said, that once a person was dead, unless a deity intervened, who could save them?

Just then, suddenly, a voice came from the crowd, "She's not dead yet, I can save her."

As the words fell, Jiang Chen squeezed his way out of the crowd.

The scene instantly fell silent, everyone looked at Jiang Chen as if he were a fool.

"Are you sick?" someone then cursed.

The person was already dead, doctors couldn't revive her, and yet he still wanted to make a scene, wasn't that sick behavior?

"Hey, kid, that's not how you seek attention."

"The girl is heartbroken enough, and you're still mocking her? Have you no shame!"

"Get out, just get out!"

The surrounding onlookers pointed at Jiang Chen and cursed, full of anger and disdain.

But the woman in black who was slumped on the ground threw herself in front of Jiang Chen, "Can you really save my mom?"

Jiang Chen nodded: "Yes. But time is critical, in a few more minutes it'll be too late."

Hearing this, the woman in black, like a drowning person clutching at the last straw, ignited hope and grabbed Jiang Chen, heading towards the gurney.

"Miss, don't listen to him, he's lying to you!"

"This kid is too despicable, don't stop me, I'm going to punch him!"

The bystanders were anxious, all trying to persuade the woman in black, and even a couple who rolled up their sleeves as if they would've hit Jiang Chen if not for others holding them back.

At that moment, Director Li recognized Jiang Chen and immediately stepped forward to stop him, angrily saying, "Is it you? What are you trying to do, create havoc?"

"Slap!"

Jiang Chen didn't directly respond, but slapped the other's face and sneered: "You quack, who killed a person, don't block my way of saving her, get lost."

After speaking, he pushed away the dumbfounded Director Li, walked up to the gurney, and took out the Silver Needles he had just bought.

He was about to use a needling technique he had learned in that dream, the Resurrection Needle.

"Silver Needle? Acupuncture?"

"Damn, this kid, could he actually be trying to wake the dead with needles?"

"He thinks he's the King of Hell, huh!"

As the crowd saw Jiang Chen taking out Silver Needles, they erupted again, bombarding him with reproach and mockery.

But at that moment, Jiang Chen turned a deaf ear, gripping the Silver Needle tightly.

If none of that had been a dream! Then the Resurrection Needle must work!

His hands trembling slightly, he inserted the Silver Needle.

Seeing Jiang Chen's condition, the surrounding onlookers scorned even more.

"Look at him, his hands are even shaking."

"If he can really bring a person back to life, I'll eat shit."

But just then, from the gurney where the woman lay without a breath of life, suddenly came a gasp as she opened her mouth and made a sound.

All other sounds, in that moment, were as if wiped away by an invisible hand.

Absolute silence!

Everyone's eyes were wide open, staring in astonishment at the scene, with only one thought in their minds:

Is this, is this really seeing a ghost?
