The auctioneer on stage had seen it all and was a master at reading people. He could naturally discern the underlying message behind the expressions of the father and son duo.
Despite his reluctance, he chose to momentarily halt the auction.
"I apologize for the interruption, everyone. We need to briefly pause to consult with the Blake father and son," he announced.
The auctioneer stepped down and approached the Blakes.
"Both of you seem distressed. Have you encountered a problem?" he inquired.
Hearing the auctioneer's words, the Blake duo tried to keep their composure, replying, "No problem. There's absolutely no issue."
Their forced calm made the auctioneer slightly exasperated. If they would admit their issue now, they would merely be liable for a 10% penalty on the agreed amount. However, if they denied any problem and later failed to produce the payment after the auction, they would face significant consequences.
