In an instant, everyone's gaze converged on the speaker.
The words seemed almost designed to provoke. The man looked to be in his forties and was speaking to the hotel manager. Though his eyes were fixed on the manager, his demeanor suggested utter disregard for him.
The hotel manager was unsure of the man's background, but it was evident that the situation could escalate into serious trouble if not handled carefully.
"I am truly sorry for the inconvenience. We didn't wish for this to happen. May I inquire what you've lost? We will do our best to compensate you. If the loss is beyond compensation, we can discuss alternative solutions. What do you think?"
The manager's tone was as submissive as it could be, but the man seemed unwilling to afford him any leeway.
"We've already told you, you can't compensate for our loss!"
