George found himself caught between a rock and a hard place.
If he refused, it would be a matter of attitude, and that would naturally displease Charlie.
But if he agreed, would he have to investigate himself? If the investigation failed to make progress, Charlie would have a legitimate reason to take action against him.
"What's the matter? You look like you're having difficulty with this," Charlie finally said, and George could sense the dissatisfaction in his tone.
"Not at all, not at all. Since it involves investigating Miss Alice, I am honor-bound to comply!"
"Your entrusting me with this task indicates your trust in me, which I shall strive not to betray."
George agreed, and only then did Charlie nod with satisfaction.
"In that case, you have full authority over this matter. If you need to mobilize the resources of the corporation, just let me know."
"Understood!"
After speaking, George left.
