"Weren't we just increasing the bids by a million each time? Why has it dropped to a mere hundred thousand now?"
"I guess this Mike fellow is losing his nerve. After all, no one's money just blows in on the wind."
"Exactly, I think so too. Just consider it; he lost the bid for the mansion earlier. Now, he's already bid several times for this sheep's head. He surely doesn't want to let go!"
"But he's unable to afford a higher price, so he's merely testing to see if seventy million is the limit of that mysterious wealthy bidder."
The crowd dissected the situation, each analysis as accurate as the last. The auctioneer, of course, understood this as well.
He sighed helplessly. It appeared that the prospect of auctioning the sheep's head for a higher price was unlikely.
After a bout of clamor from the crowd, a new bid echoed from upstairs.
"71 million!"
