Chapter 17 - Blothir

Brother! are you alright? asked Blothir. Aramir was breathing heavily yet his eyes were completely closed. Blothir reached his for the fallen dwarfs hands and checked his pulse out. There was a pulse. Aramir! he tried to wake the man up. Open your eyes, he said to him. There was still no movement from the dwarf. Blothir tried searching for the lantern, and when he found it, he was troubled to see that broken. Stupid, greedy dwarves! he cursed the thieves. Aramir, he shouted and shook his head. His eyes awoke. There was light amidst all the darkness. Brother! was I dead? asked Aramir. You were, replied Blothir. We need to get out of these forests, said Blothir. He looked ahead and all he saw was darkness. He looked at Aramir, and everything was dark there too, except for the eyes. Only his eyes shone like a beacon. Brother? how do we get out of the forests? asked Aramir. With our eyes, expressed Blothir as his eyes grew wide. What do you mean with our eyes? Our eyes cannot see anything ahead! replied Aramir. Yes, precisely. Our eyes cannot see anything. Except for our eyes. Aramir got up! his eyes grew sharp like that of a hawks. We can only live if we use our eyes! said Blothir. Yes brother, said Aramir "Our eyes are like beacons for us, like they are for ships amidst the storms". Yes Aramir. Now we use the light of our eyes and keep moving forward, said Blothir. Move slowly, step by step and reach a point, And I will reach there, where you stand guided by the light of your eyes. And then it shall be my turn to tread this treacherous forests, said Blothir. So on and thence forth. Great Brother! said Aramir and walked ahead. His pace was too fast and he slipped and fell. Blothir looked at the map and he saw that he could summon the yellow moon for a minute. That should be enough to get a scan of the area, he said. The yellow moon shone and the dwarves scanned the map, which was downloaded for a mile or so in radius. As the yellow moon vanished the darkness enveloped once again. The hurdles and the dangers were seen on the map now. It would take a long time for them to call the yellow moon once again. Slow brother, said Blothir and do not forget to keep your eyes open, he said to Aramir. Yes, said Aramir as he slowly got on to the path and opened his eyes. Good, keep on! said Blothir. So, continued their journey amidst the darkness, where no light shall pas through and nothing at all can be seen, except their own eyes.
