Chapter 34 - Unexpected Meeting

Vote? :D

"Hitori-san, did you enjoy what you did yesterday?" D suddenly asked with a smirk.

Hearing ask that particular question made me feel like something chaotic is about to happen real soon, despite knowing that I could probably stop this conversation. I was interested in where this was going so I kept my silence and listened.

Bocchi who was about to drink her daily dose of milk, why do you think that she got a massive breast? Of course, it's part genetics and part milk.

'Milk. I'm a big girl and I drink Milk!' Is a quote from a certain little riding hood.

"W-what are you talking about Wakaba-san?" Bocchi answered rather nervously at the sudden unexpected question.

"Oh you know, the fingeri-" D before she could finish her sentence. Bocchi interrupted her, which was very surprising, knowing how extreme her social anxiety is.

"Ah! M-my spilled in my fingers…" Bocchi suddenly blurted as she intentionally spilled her glass of milk into her fingers.

Despite that obvious distraction, D's smirk became even wider, her lips like they were about to split.

"Oh that is unfortunate, if you damage your fingers any further, she wouldn't be able to finger 'it' for quite some time you know?" D smirk turned into something more vicious, it was a miracle that no one noticed such an evil smile, aside from me of course.

Bocchi's face became flustered, and her eyes wandered around the room, she looked like she would rather be somewhere else than here.

Thank you for the small mercies, Mama Bocchi interfered. "That's right, you should dip it in a cold water Hitori-chan, or else you wouldn't be able to use your fingers in playing your guitar."

Oh my god, woman how could you be so oblivious, it was very clear that they weren't talking about that.

Hearing that Bocchi straightens her back, and a little bit of her confidence is back. "I-i will mom."

D however, didn't react visibly as she kept a smile on her face. "Indeed, you should clean it with cold water Hitori-san, or else you wouldn't be able to 'finger' your guitar."

Bocchi didn't even answer as her face was red, she immediately fled from the scene, as she couldn't stand being in this place any longer, she might as well die from embarrassment.

"Well, it wasn't what I intended but it's still satisfactory." D smiled.

While I rolled my eyes for a bit and replied. "You just have to push it don't you?"

"It was entertaining, can you blame me?"

"Yes." Absolutely, it's her fault, to begin with, there's no denying that fact.

D, however, pouted at my immediate answer, however, I ignored her and continued to eat the pancakes that Mama Bocchi cooked for them.

"You know I'm also good at fingering minors."

"D, just shut up," I replied a bit irritatedly and thought. 'Seriously? Right in front of pancakes?'

Dz however answered with a chuckle of her own and didn't care about his irritation.

-Yamano Mitsuha-

She narrowly escaped death, only because of teleportation and the interference of Alexander, although she did it didn't stop the guilt that she felt at the moment, she managed to live while the others didn't.

If there's an afterlife, which most likely there is, she wouldn't be able to look them in the eyes, especially the eyes of Alexander.

Only thanks to his action of standing up, she managed to feel that there's a danger that was coming to them, without hesitation she teleported before it came to her, as selfish as it is she wanted to survive.

Because of that, she is alive, while she may not regret what she did, however, it did give her survivor's guilt.

And she would carry it till the day she died.

Closing her eyes and letting out a massive sigh. "I can't change what happened, but I will certainly remember everyone from my class."

Right now she was in a village in another world, living with the girl who saved her about a week ago.

Mitsuha saw Colette waving at her while she was chopping some firewood using a massive ax.

Naturally, she waves back, although it makes her wonder how could a small girl like Collette carry something heavy with such ease?

That's a question that she'll probably never understand for a long time, as far as she's concerned she was fond of the girl, no matter how unusual she may be, after all, she wouldn't have survived in this world without Collette.

Speaking of people that she's fond of, she doesn't have a lot, since most people that she's close to the heart are mostly dead.

Now that she mentioned it, wasn't she fond of Alexander too?

Of all the people in her school, he was the one who she liked the most, though her relationship with him is complicated.

She liked him, not just as a friend but also in a romantic sense, she wouldn't have minded dating him, if she didn't there's no way she'd give up her virginity to him.

While having sex with him is a bit of a mistake on her part, which she didn't regret by the way, she was emotional at that time and desperately needed someone's comfort, since after all the funeral of her family happened that day.

Feeling utterly alone, you can't blame her for acting irrationally.

Sometimes you needed someone to cling upon so that you would be able to keep going.

After that incident happened, it was a miracle that the two of them didn't act awkward with each other, as both of them acted like that moment didn't happen.

It felt a bit painful that he never mentioned anything about it, but it wasn't like she was blaming him for that, since she too didn't say anything about that time.

More likely, she didn't actively pursue that matter, since after that happened she obtained her ability to travel between worlds, but it's more like teleportation rather than just traveling between worlds.

And now, she regrets not talking about it with him. If she did, they'd probably start dating.

Honestly, he was the only guy in school that had a chance of dating her, as she wasn't really actively trying to start a relationship with anyone, or boys in general.

But it was too late since he was dead.

Since whatever was coming into their classroom, is something massive unless he had some sort of defensive ability that could survive a nuke, there's no way he'd be able to live, unless, of course, he had a similar power to her.

Anyway, she should stop thinking about it, since it wouldn't lessen the guilt and regret that she is feeling right now.

"I think I've stayed here long enough, it's time to go back into my world to see what truly happened." Before using her ability, she went somewhere that doesn't have any living human beings.

After all, her ability is supposed to be a secret, no one should know about it, at least for now.

After she went back to Earth, in Japan she immediately opened the news and saw their school wrecked beyond belief.

And the newscaster said that the reason for this unfortunate incident is because of a massive 'gas leak'.

What the hell?

There's no way that was a gas leak, if it was she would have noticed. Mitsuha couldn't stand the newscaster's bullshit.

So she turned off the TV, thinking about what she just heard. "Are they trying to hide something?"

Which was obviously the case, however, what are they trying to hide? If what happened to her class is a conspiracy, then it's her job to figure out the mystery of what truly happened in her class!

She can't let this injustice go!

But how exactly is she going to start? After all, she didn't have a lead, nor she did not have enough resources to investigate.

This won't do, she needed something that could calm her thought, she needed a dose of warm cafe or something.

Mitsuha went to the shelves and winced as she realized that she was out of stock, that's why she went to the nearest store to buy a pack.

There she met someone, she never thought she'd see in this life again. "W-wakaba-san?!"

"Mhm? Oh? Yamano-san, hello there." Wakaba-san flashed her a smile.

Mitsuha couldn't help but feel that there was something strange going on with this person, she didn't notice it before that incident but she certainly did now.

She didn't remember Wakaba, to be this cheerful, as this, not to mention she shouldn't have acted happy like this if she's someone who survived that incident, which isn't possible unless you have some sort of ability considering the devastation that was made in their former classroom.

She would have looked traumatized or at least sad, but Wakaba was none of that, she looks perfectly happy, like that tragedy didn't happen.

Upon realizing that, she became wary of this person known as 'Wakaba Hiiro'.

"Awh, being wary of me? That's cute, either way, it's nice to see you again Mitsuha." Wakaba's smile became even wider.

Unfortunately for Wakaba, Mitsuha didn't exactly share her joy of meeting her again.

"W-who are you?" Mitsuha took a step back, readying herself to teleport if 'Wakaba Hiiro' did something strange.

"What? Did you forget me already? I'm Wakaba Hiiro, your classmate."

"No way! Wakaba-san doesn't act as you do!" Mitsuha refuted her claim.

"Well, that's because it was all an act, this is the real me you know? I was never a shy person or an introvert. But I'm an Otaku that's for sure." Wakaba winked at her.

"W-why would you act like that?" Mitsuha was confused as to why she acted like a shy and introverted person.

"Just because I want to? Anyway, let's stop talking about that, let's talk about who survived the beam."

'Beam?' Mitsuha thought and it didn't take her long to realize what it meant.

"S-so our class was destroyed because of a beam?"

"Correct, a beam of light to be exact. It was meant for me, you know? Too bad it was too weak to actually kill me, and you guys are just an unfortunate victim of that." Wakaba continued to smile as she revealed the real reason why such a thing happened.

Mitsuha froze in her spot, from all things she thought of, she never would have guessed that destruction was meant for someone.

And because of that her wariness toward Wakaba went over the roof, and immediately tried to teleport somewhere that isn't here, but when she tried to do so, she couldn't, so she tried for a few minutes and realized that she lost her ability.

That made her stomach drop.

"Haha, I can't let you teleport while we're in a conversation you know? That's just rude." Wakaba pouted at her.

"H-how are you able to-" Mitsuha was cut off before she could even finish her sentence.

"Remove your ability to teleport? It's because I can, it was easy a minor God's ability isn't that hard to restrict, now let's continue our conversation, shall we? Don't worry I won't hurt you, physically at least." Wakaba smiled beautifully, however in the eyes of Mitsuha it was terrifying.

And that very moment, Mitsuha knew what 'fear' is.

A/N: No, she did nothing to Mitsuha, she just talked normally, nothing else.
