Seeing Li Xian put the meat in the fire, Lasang felt like he was sitting on the pins as if they were going to be burned and wasted.
"What the heck is this kid thinking? Why waste such 'precious' food?" Lasang muttered to himself before glancing at his brother.
Ankara simply shook his head, which kind of confused Lasang. He didn't understand whether his brother was shaking his head at this kid's madness or telling him not to say anything.
Under all their watchful eyes, the meat slowly started to drip, while Li Xian kept rotating the stick while carefully trying to avoid having the fire attach itself to the stick.
They are quite surprised that the meat isn't burned directly, and their interest is peaked. Even Ankara couldn't help but watch the process without blinking, as it was something that he had never seen in his life.
Minutes later, the meat stopped dripping fat around them, and a crispy, charred outer layer formed. Soon, a strong aroma rose from the meat, which instantly widened the eyes of the three with surprise and delight.
Li Xian knows that the meat is a bit over-burned, as this is his first time doing this. But he felt that it was still better than eating raw meat.
He returned the meat slowly before placing it in the leaf, making a small space for it.
"Big brother! Give it to Little Bowl quickly... Little Bowl is feeling hungry for meat."
The little bowl couldn't help the urge, as saliva started flowing from her mouth.
"Wait! It is still quite hot, if you eat it directly, it will burn your mouth."
Li Xian began dissecting the meat by folding the leaf from one end closest to the meat placement. He also found it funny the way this little girl is only hungry for meat, and an amusing smile formed on his face.
Two or three minutes later, Li Xian took a small wooden stick again before piercing one of the pieces and giving it to the little girl. The two big guys looked at the "burned" meat and couldn't help but swallow their saliva.
"Ouch! It's burning Little Bowl's tongue." The little girl couldn't help but cry out as she hurriedly bit into the meat, which was still quite hot.
Lasang hurriedly moved his hands toward her mouth, as he felt frightened by her words. But before his hands reached her, the little girl's face again lit up.
"But it's yummy! Yummier than the yummiest meat Hehe! Big brother, C, can you give Little Bowl one more?" Little Bowl exclaimed as she looked at the remaining pieces with longing.
"Here! Eat as much as you want." Li Xian said as he dragged the leaf a bit before grabbing a big piece of meat for himself.
"Hehe! Big brother, after you are dead tomorrow, we can get more meat. Then, please make more of this, alright?" Little bowl said as she grabbed one more piece.
Li Xian, who just swallowed a piece, almost choked on it and fell into a fit of coughing. Lasang looked at Ankara and Li Xian a bit apologetically, while Ankara was glaring at him.
"Kid! Where did you learn this? And how is it possible for this meat to not burn when it comes in contact with fire?" Lasang asked as he tried to shift the topic. It did work pretty amazing, as it instantly piqued the interest of Ankara too.
He has never seen this kid doing this before, and he doesn't know how he learned such a thing. He even wondered whether this kid was the same as the one he raised.
"Uncle Lasang! The fire itself won't burn everything directly to ashes. Just like the sticks, we are using them to light it. But, tell me, what do we use to stop the fire?"
Li Xian asked as he knew he had finally baited them.
"Water! We use water to put the fire off." Lasang said that he is the most intelligent person in the village. But of course, it is pretty common knowledge that everyone knows, even in this era.
"This meat also contains water or liquid, and at the same time, the liquid in it is not enough to put out the fire. So they both start fighting until the water runs out. The outer layer will become a bit burnt and crispy, as it is in direct contact with the fire. But that will also give us a unique taste."
Li Xian explained as he saw the interest in their eyes is a bit intense to know the process.
"Then that means! If I keep burning this for longer periods, it will eventually burn to ashes?" Lasang asked as he understood the process already.
"Yup! Do you want to try this meat? It's kind of tastier than the raw meat that we eat daily." Li Xian said as he handed one of the pieces to Lasang.
"Damn Kid! Where did you learn about this process? This is going to completely change the way that we are going to eat our meat from now on." Lasang asked as he shamelessly took the meat and hurriedly bit on it.
Even though it kind of felt hot in his mouth, his eyes went around with the deliciousness that spread in his mouth.
"Oh! I casually tried when I was free, and I have so many other things that I have yet to try in my head."
Li Xian spoke a bit vaguely, which kind of confused them. But they soon had to believe him, as they thought back to the life of this kid, who mostly spends his life leisurely.
"Big Brother! I think now we have a chance to reject those guys and propose this method as a special category just like mine, right?" Lasang asked as he bit with delight.
"No! I don't think they will listen to what we are going to explain. If Big Bowl had shown this a day earlier, we would have had the chance to confront them. sigh!" Ankara thought for a moment before he sighed and spoke.
Even Lasang understood this, as those other hunters will think they are just making excuses.
"It's alright, Uncle Ankara! You will have more surprises to come tomorrow when we start our hunt."
Li Xian said this as he handed a large piece of meat to the big guy who had kicked him. But he felt that this big guy still cared a lot for his body owner.
Ankara stared at him for about 10 seconds, not processing what was going on in this kid's head. But the aroma spreading from the meat piece, which was very close to him, made him helpless. He took that and hurriedly bit onto it, and the expression he made is almost the same as Lasang's.
"Delicious." He exclaimed and concentrated on eating. Everyone silently ate their food and looked at Li Xian again as they finished eating the ones that they got from him.
"Kid! Make sure you don't get the wrath of the beast tomorrow and knock that kid next to you down before you run. That is the best suggestion I can give you now. If you can survive tomorrow, I'll make this a special job for you, and you'll never have to go hunting again."
Ankara said this before standing up and going out of the cave.
"Yup Kid! What big brother said will give you a better opportunity to survive. I'll also give you a stone tool to defend yourself in case the worst happens." Lasang said as he stood up. He patted Li Xian's shoulder before walking out of the cave too.
" As expected! People here are used to this kind of cruelty already. If this were to happen in the modern world, I would become a person, who is the most detested person alive."
Li Xian thought. But he is also aware that there are many such people in the modern world. Just they are better at hiding their original selves and only showing their fake personalities outside.
"I will make sure to survive and also make sure to not do such a thing unless it's necessary."
Li Xian muttered to himself. He felt troubled by the thought of pushing someone to survive, as his parents would be ashamed if they knew that his son had become someone like that.
However, Li Xian believed he had to get by in order to tell their parents who he had become or what he had done. He quickly shook his head though, feeling that it wouldn't be necessary because he would be faster than the other guy anyhow.
