Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Let Me Dance with You

She pushed her way through the crowd in quest of a seat. When she found a couch, she sighed and sat down. Walking in these heels pained her limbs. "Are you okay?" she finally realised the presence of the other person next to her. She nodded slightly before replying, "needed a seat."

Her gaze darted over the ballroom, looking for the hosts, the royals. "enjoy the ball. They haven't come," her partner's voice said again, smiling and joining the buzzing crowd.

Yes, she is correct. I need to relax. The doors opened as she thought. She pushed herself forward to glimpse the royal family. She walked ahead and stood peering around when she couldn't see them from where she was. When the chatting in the throng got more audible, she locked eyes with her partner. she raised her glass with a grin.

When she turned, she revealed lovely purple eyes. The voices grew more audible. Oh shit. Her gaze was fixed. She instantly greeted him with a curtsy. He had to be the prince. And she had to fumble. When she heard her partner snicker b, her eyes rolled.

"raise your head" She did as instructed, but she kept her eyes away from him. "May I know your name?" he whispered with his eyes looking elsewhere. Although she was still a bit confused, she played along. "My name is Lady Lauren Blackwood"

Let me dance with you," the prince urged, causing her to cringe. Her gaze returned to his before she took his hand in hers. The slow music started playing on cue, and the two danced. Lauren couldn't take her gaze away from him. His looks were works of art. She could see herself staring at it all day.

A smile emerged on his face as he questioned, "is there something on my face, my lady?" "No. "Please don't call me that," she said softly. "It is improper for a monarch to address his subject as my lady,'" she said with a smirk.

"Is that correct? So, may I address you as Lady Lauren?" He let go of her waist and spun her with her other hand in the air. "If you desire, your highness," she said as her world swirled around her. "You don't say much, Lady Lauren," he said, referring to her calm demeanour.

"I'm at a loss for words." She didn't tell the truth. "Please allow me to get to know you. "I'm quite curious." "What does His Majesty want to know?"

Oh boy. She regretted saying that. Perhaps she should have informed her about her experience at the ball instead.

"What do the Blackwoods have to do with my event?"

The Blackwoods were merely invited to come, so they did. But you don't seem grateful to see us," she said, pulling away from him and raising her head. What on earth is this chick up to?

"No, you were the only one invited." "Serving for two?" a butler interrupted, offering champagne. Lauren eagerly accepted one, while the prince declined. "Your highness, you could have been more precise. You've got them here now, and you've danced with their daughter. "You can't possibly toss them out," she sipped her drink.

"It was a pleasure dancing with you, your highness, but my family must return home." "Greetings," she said as she walked away. "Wait a minute, my lady!" the prince said, catching everyone's attention.

What a jerk.

"Let me escort you to your car," she took a big breath and followed the prince through the huge door. "I'll see you around, Tammy," he says quietly in her ear. She was hot under the collar and her cheeks suddenly puffed out with blood.

What exactly has this man done?
