Chapter 1 - Lost

I was on a trek all alone, I thought it would be fun to be on a solo trek. I was supposed to be with my friends but they dropped out at the last minute. Being made up my mind, I decided not to ditch the plan and go at it alone. A trek along a fairly decent up hill road on the country side. The road passed through a jungle with the final destination being an old fort atop the hill. It is a popular trekking destination so I thought what could go wrong if I went at it alone.

The jungle didn't have any predators, but the guide asked us to be wary of snakes and monkeys. The monkeys mind their own business for the most part, unless they see food in your hand so it's better to not eat anything, even drinking from a water bottle could attract the monkeys. I left home praying it goes well and it went well. But how do I find myself stuck in this situation!! A wolf? they didn't say there would be wolves in this jungle!!

I hate bugs so much and the tree branch I'm sitting on is reeking with them. The bugs are climbing up my arms. I can feel one up my armpit. I am too scared of the wolf to be reacting to the bugs right now. I tried to reach for my phone but as fate has it for me, there is no signal. I can't call anyone. The only thing I could do right now is sit here and wait for help.

It is all my fault. I saw a very colorful snake, its skin had all the colors of the rainbow, slithering into the jungle and even though the guide asked us to be wary of the snakes my curiosity got the better of me, I thought I might've discovered a new species, I mean what are the odds. A bright rainbow colored snake is nothing I've seen before or ever heard about. It was too out of the ordinary, it was glowing. I thought I'd just take a picture of the snake and go back. I chased it as it slipped faster into the jungle and though I was anxious of going far in I re assured myself that I just have to take steps back in the opposite direction. And all that led me to situation I'm currently in.

I lost the snake, it was no where to be found. I observed my surroundings, birds chirping, trees making noise as the wind blows, bugs, lots and lots of bugs, I hate them so much, and there were so many of them. I was scared. All the stupid videos of Big Foot I watched on YouTube are coming back. I thought I'd see a big foot today, they aren't real but when your scared your mind just makes shit up.

As I was panicking I tried to go to the opposite direction, as I planned in a fit of courage. I was on my way back, I heard a growl. I ignored. I kept walking. I heard a growl again. I ignored again. I increased my pace. I could feel somethings coming behind me. The only thing I could think of at the moment was to climb up the first tree I get my chance. I did just that. It was difficult to climb up with a backpack but somehow I managed. I didn't see anything below. Maybe it was my mind playing tricks I said, but I spoke too soon. As I thinking of climbing down, I saw it. I thought it was a dog but I don't think I would find Huskies here. White and black fur, it had.

It had to be a wolf. Its pointy snout, perked up ears and those eyes. But they didn't say there would be wolves. In fact now that I realize I hadn't seen a single monkey in the jungle yet. Just the few along the trek track. Did they lie? but why would they. First a glowing rainbow colored snake and now this wolf. Everything seems out of the ordinary in this jungle. I don't know what to do. I don't have stones to throw at it. But even if I had, throwing stones at it would have only enraged it. I have to wait here. Wait for someone to figure out I'm missing and come get me.
