Chapter 45 - Chapter 2 Part 3

Now in Heddwyn's room, Heddwyn continues his scolding. "I honestly thought you could control yourself this time boy! How can you fuck up this badly?" Christopher opens his mouth to speak but Heddwyn gives him a glare that silences any noise he wants to make. "I don't want to hear a single word out of you."

(Narrator) So what is daddy Heddwyn gonna do? I hate myself for saying that. Oh my god, I'm a simp.

"Can I say something?" Heather asks, raising a hand. Heddwyn nods.

"I don't believe it was what Christopher intended to do, I was investigating the residue of the spell he cast and it was nowhere near enough to kill anyone." Heather states.

"So, do you think it was a frame?" Heddwyn asks.

"No...a set up." Heather declares.

"Is there any evidence against this?" Heddwyn asks.

"If there was, it's most likely completely covered up by now." Heather says.

"I agree, well there is nothing we can do about it now. The fact of the matter is, you caused irreparable damage to the capital, lad. I'm going to keep an eye on you so you don't end up killing more people." Heddwyn says.

"Actually, we have interesting news about that." Haider says.

"Oh?" Heddwyn asks inquisitively.

(Narrator) You get it, they say the essential info Mylzronth told them, we don't need to hear it again.

"So if I'm understanding this correctly, Helga's passing triggered some dark force that comes forth through his anger?" Heddwyn asks. The three nod.

"That's so interesting. It sounds dangerous though." Relov expresses.

"I think I'm going to need to keep a close eye on you." Heddwyn's expression is slightly worrying.

"Hay Heddwyn, why don't you leave me to care for them?" Relov boldly states.

Heddwyn looks the Dragon Newt up and down. "I dunno. Heather, what is his mana point count?"

"50,000." Heather bows slightly.

"Don't do that again, you're my daughter, not a servant." Heddwyn says. The jet black Nekojin turns to Relov. "That is a mighty impressive amount of mana you have. How much can you put out?"

"All of it I believe, although nothing in a while has gotten me to push that far." Relov says, sweating a bit from Heddwyn's authoritative gaze.

"Ok, I permit this." Heddwyn says. "However, the punishment still stands, I will be hunting you until I either win, or you do."

Heddwyn slams his spear into the ground and it lights up with a flash of light, just like that the Nekojin disappeared.

"We still have Simon so this will be easy!" Haider says.

"Wrong. He has compensated for his mistake and erased all traces of his scent. He truly is the master of The Stealth Attribute." Heather says.

"There is one thing we can do." Relov says. Heather turns to him curiously. "But i think one of the quests on the guild board is perfect for you to see it on your own." Relov snaps his fingers and a 100 sided dice appears in his opposite hand.

"Is this your magic?" Christopher asks.

"Why yes it is. It allows me to gain an item depending on what I roll." relov says.

"Wait so what roll do you want?" Haider asks.

"Any roll in between 60 and 80. We need a teleport crystal to get up to the guild." Relov says, rolling the dice.

As the round dice rolls on the floor, Relov makes sure it doesn't hit a wall and interfere with the result. As the dice slows down forcefully it eventually lands on a number.

"43. Not good enough." Relov says. He holds out his hand and an ultimate healing potion materialises from thin air.

"So is the item the same every time?" Christopher asks.

"Nope, it's a random chance. Plus I was using an item dice that time. It's my affinity." Relov clarifies, the dice disappearing seconds later.

"So what do you do if you get an unlucky roll?" Heather asks.

"Well, I have normal weapons and staffs to account for that." Relov says.

"Just so you know, I'm a spatial mage, I could just portal there." Christopher says.

"Isn't that limited to areas you can see?" Relov asks.

"Not really, if i have an estimate on distance i can easily connect it to solid ground." Christopher explains.

"Alright, let's go outside." Relov says.

(Narrator) Because I don't know how to do transitions properly, the group walks out of the inn and onto the street.

Relov points directly up and at the highest of the floating islands. "Can you get the spell up there?"

His forehead dampening a little, Christopher pulls out his staff from his cloak. "I think so. It's really high up, don't you worry about falling off?"

"Not really. I mean, I'm a Dragon Newt, I can just fly. But you three are human." Relov says.

Christopher slams his staff into the ground and he begins casting the spell. He has never tried to use it on an elevation so he appears quite nervous. His spell becomes visible and he attempts to link the other side to the island. The portal materialises in front of him and Relov pokes his head through to cheak.

"Yep, perfect." Relov says.

Relov jumps through and the others follow. A heavy wind sweeps across the island, nearly knocking Haider and Christopher on their knees as the portal closes.

"Is this wind normal?" Heather asks, shouting over the wind.

"It's occasional! But pretty much all the members have ways to get up here. Even if they don't have wings." Relov chatters.

Relov motions his arm and heads for the front gate of the guild. The youngsters follow directly behind him, barely able to keep up, even in the partial slipstream he was making. Luckily the door was close, Relov opens the gate and pulls them in as they get close.

Forcing the door closed, Relov says. "Welcome to The Dark Star Eaters. It's not much, but it's cosy!"

"Welcome back Relov! Who are the little ones?" The voice has that dignified elder sound to it. Crusty and worn but still powerful.

"Glad to see you're doing well as always guild master!" Relov says. "These younglings are going to accompany me on a few quests! Since they are human, I want to make sure they have a decent chance at passing the entrance exam next year."

"I get you! Humans drew the short straw when it came to mana potential. But I see it hasn't stopped this little las. She has 20,000 units. However she is limited by her output of that mana." the guild master says.

"You could tell that just by glancing at me?" Heather asks.

"Well I am old, I have quite a few years of practice over you!" the elder says.

"His name by the way is Silus Thavil." Relov says.

"Since you know my name, why don't you tell me yours?" Silus asks.

"My name is Heather Longstaff, these two are my brothers Haider Longstaff and Christopher Newman." she, and her brothers bow to show respect.

"Curious, if you don't mind me asking, why does Christopher have a different family name?" Silus asks.

"We were adopted, I decided to keep the last name of the priest that took us in." Christopher says.

"I see. Now that is a nice thing you did there son. While Relov finds a suitable quest to take you on, come here and chat with me. I want to learn all about you!" the charming old man says.

Relov takes off towards a board of pinned pieces of paper and our trio approaches the old man. "So what would you like to know?" Christopher asks.

Taking a good look at the man, he seems to be an Orc, but not the typical ones from your world. These guys are essentially human, Orc's are taller, have tougher dark brown skin, and generally more physically fit. Orcs have a natural ability to increase their physical strength in battle making them great close range fighters. Silus is 9 decades old. He has scars covering his body from head to toe, some of them looking to be quite deep. He has pure white facial hair going down to his chest, no hair on the top of his hair however. Silus is wearing a skin tight black vest, a white cape tied around his neck, some basic brown trousers and some metal leg supports to give him some extra control with his movements and some fancy shoes made from leather. Silus has two magic infused greatswords equipped on his back.

"Why don't you tell me about your Attributes and Affinities? I would be happy to share mine too." Silus says, a friendly wide smile stretching from ear to ear.

"Ok, I'll go first." Haider says, clearing his throat. "I have the Attribute of Ice and Snow and the Affinity of Creation."

"A most creative and flexible magic indeed." Silas replies.

"I guess I will go next." Christopher says, he lowers his head slightly. "I have the Attribute of Space and the Spatial Attribute."

"Oh my, a powerful magic to be sure, and not an easy one to learn either. I suggest you stay cautious young man and be careful not to kill anyone innocent with it." Silus comments. Christopher nervously chuckles.

"I guess it's just me left!" Heather says with a chirpy happy grin. "I have the Plant Attribute and three Affinities of Growth, Wilt, and Life Creation or Soulustriousizing to be more specific."

Silus' eyes bulge outwardly and he measures her mana pool. "By the Mother! What an impressive amount of mana. 20,000, that's way higher than any student. You're brothers are going to struggle to keep up!"

"Yeah, but I can't use it. I need to train more." Heather depressingly says.

"That's ok, I'm sure you'll learn to output a ton more with time, especially if Relov is taking you on a number of quests. Physical experience is the best way to give your body an extra boost!." Silas says.

Relov jogs into the group waving a quest in his hand. "I'll take this one, it's not too hard but way more difficult than any novice can handle."

Silus takes the quest and looks at the triad of siblings. "Ok, i approve."
